Check Out My New Arcade Stick! - Part III (No Image Quoting)

@PlusFrames here’s the finished stick. Thought it would be better to post it here:

PS4+ audio board
Crown 202 mx 24mm and a 30mm for the up button
Action buttons are 30mm silver gamer fingers
JLF with phreak link mod

That’s smart with unscrewing the stick when using the hitbox layout! Looks good! Thanks for sharing. I may have to do something similar. I really like my Hitbox but miss stick.

Which one do you think you’re likely to use more?

hitbox, but I like the stick for certain characters and non-fighting games. I actually really like if for overcooked. All fight sticks have a lot of options for their 18" case that just has the stick way off to the left out of the way so you don’t have to do a link mod

Finished another build. My custom Mad Catz TE ft Bunny Hero Miruko (Rumi Usagiyama).

Parts

Seimitsu LS32
6x 30mm Sanwa OBSF Buttons
5x 24mm Sanwa OBSF Buttons
6 Button / No Turbo Panel Plexi/Artwork (Artwork done by me)
PS360+
ButterCade’s Cable Door Replacement Panel (24mm, N, 24mm, 24mm, 24mm)

Not complete yet, around 90% done. Still debating if I’ll go with a wood ball top and side panels. The white ball top and side panels do match Rumi pretty well, but at the same time I think the wooden parts would too. After that I kind of goofed and forgot the Start/Back button the TE already has so currently they aren’t connected. Rear view shows how I plan on wiring it. The USB B mount is from Adafruit

I planed on using their USB Type C one (to be fancy), but they were out of stock and I don’t know when it’d be back in stock due to COVID. USB B is fine and fit pretty well. I might remake the artwork in the future when better manga scans are out for the later chapters and have better manga placement. Also the bottom right I might match the scarf pattern. Then add some bottom padding.

After two years of sitting in pieces on a bookshelf…it’s finally done!

I kept the OG LS-32s. Just rebuilt and lubed. Buttons were swapped out for Crown SDB-202s (currently with Cherry MX Blacks all around). Boards are Retro board/UFB stacks with Neutrik Ethercon passthrus. Drilled holes for TP/Select/Home on each side (admittedly not my best work). Finished up with a Creatology foam panel on the underside. Instruction Space insert courtesy from Andres.Alberto on eBay.

Here’s my HRAP3:

The lever is Crown 309MJ A3 switches with Golden mod - med shaft, large actuator and blue grommet. Buttons have yellow switches which I’m not in love with, want to replace with brown switches to get more tactile feel. Still the original PS3/PC PCB.

What is that plexy bolted to the bottom of the joystick?

It’s a plate to lock in the the micro switches. Not sure that it is completely necessary but it came with the Golden Crown kit wazwuz was selling on here years ago so I threw it on regardless.

New Case Design I’ve been working on called the “Espada”. Wide-body shape inspired by traditional Filipino weapons. Made of a wood supporting frame and wrap-around acrylic covers.

had a blast just making these small case mods I tried to make a hitbox plate damn that went bad lol thank god for Jansen Customs they came thru with save🤣. I think I’m going to make a wood case just for giggles.

I’ve been talking about the progress on these in the “BUTTHOLE” thread, but I finally got these completed.

These were all promised to people close to me from years ago; I had originally started designing these in Q4 of 2017, but didn’t get a chance to actually start doing any build work until Q4 2019.

All are painted MDF casings with ABS panel bottoms; the major woodworking was done in October 2019, and build/assembly went well for 3 weekends… and then I just stopped. Until pandemic hit; no better time to pick up in-progress projects.

======

Stick #1

  • For a college buddy of mine; we play DBFZ together
  • black/orange casing with Final Fantasy 7 art (picked by him, I added the button labels and got it printed)
  • JLF with SparkCE optical PCB
  • Silent Sanwa OBSFE face buttons, standard Sanwa OBSF-24 aux buttons
  • Hori Mini Wired Gamepad (for PS4) PCB

======

Stick #2

  • For my wife’s sister, we play BBTAG and UNICLR together.
  • black/red casing with RWBY art (put together by her, I just added the labels got it printed and cut)
  • JLF with all stock parts
  • Sanwa OBSF-30 face buttons, Sanwa OBSF-24 aux buttons
  • PDP Faceoff Deluxe “Mario” wired controller (for Switch) PCB

======

Stick #3

  • For a fellow collector-friend, who also became a co-worker; we don’t play too many fighters together, but we’ve dabbled in SF4, SFV, BBTAG and DBFZ together.
  • white/blue casing with Azur Lane art (put together by me)
  • JLF with light blue aluminum shaft/dustwater, clear bi-color (violet/blue) balltop
  • Sanwa OBSF-30 face buttons, Sanwa OBSF-24 aux buttons
  • Hori Mini Wired Gamepad (PS4) PCB

======

Stick #4

  • For… me. I was already building 3 stick casings; I figured it was no big deal to add one more to the assembly line.
  • black/silver casing with imitation Sega Lindbergh art (custom created by me)
  • Seimitsu LS-40 with yellow balltop
  • Seimitsu PS-15 face buttons, Seimitsu PS-14-DN screw-in aux buttons
  • no PCB, but everything is wired into the standard 20-pin harness for the buttons/lever, 4-pin harness for TP/L3/R3, and 4-pin harness for USB connection. The mounting plate already has holes/standoffs installed for the PS360+/UFB sized PCB.

Finally all done!
I want to say that I’m done with custom arcade stick scratch-builds for now, but I already have some ideas in my head for upcoming sticks… -_-
