i hold LP, then rapidly i push LK, and then the kara throw comes out.
I use the same thing in third strike to Kara cancel a normal with an universal overhead.

Stop playing sf2 koryu
Hehe, oldskool check.
I played 15 games of that on sunday. It’s in my crappy fighting game rotation.
I think Blanka is one of the few characters who can actually beat Ryu/Ken, but it’s still not a favorable match.
I love SF2, SF2C, and SF2T. SSF2 is where it started to get wonky for me. I started with Ryu, then went to Guile. Switched to Blanka when it came to SNES and never looked back. Dabbled with Bison, Vega, and Honda, like I still do. But the feel of zapping people with electricity is just too cool.
Blanka is fun to play in 2X with his crazy throw setups, his jumps even he is low.
Haha, I really don’t rember it that much, match-up wise. Usually I was playing ‘Rainbow Edition’ (koryu?) while waiting for the bus to arrive at the station… if the bus came, then fuck the remaining credits. I remember Blanka spitting out fireballs with hp.elec though.
Sea of projectiles, dp’s that spewed five flesh-seaking fireballs… jump-back boom (no charge time). Guile could jump-back boom and air climb vertically… then air-throw through cascading screen lenghts, like Zangief. Rog and Guile were definitly ‘S’ tier.
Anyways was watching cross counter Asia ep 2 with Singapore vs Hk and the last round was Xian vs this guile player in Hk and he pulled off u1 reversal after blocking a crossup… First that was quite impressive but actually thinking about it more that’s actually very impressive because it’s actually a option select vs a failed block string if the opponent successfully does the block string on you… The ultra won’t come out… But if the opponent does a frame trap (or messes up his blockstring) then he just fucked himself over… This got me quite excited because blanka is blessed with pretty good ultras and I think this is possible to do with u1 as well just curious if anyone know or tried

Ferris hit me with this once, he’s really good at auto correct ultra.
he also does it really well after hop crossups that should have killed his backcharge.
I never undertand why people always think Blanka is a good character, since Vanilla, but not at high level where people know he’s not that good.
Yeah if you look at the arcadia magazine vanilla tier lists, he’s uppermid in the first few, and in the span of 6 months he’s bottom 4, cause he is bottom 4!
I’m starting to hit a point offensively where I can freestyle more successfully instead of working off of my normal setups. I’m getting more free and loose, which really helps when I know I’m 1 hit away from getting them stunned. Being unpredictable in that situation is great.
Now that I’m thinking less while playing I think I’m playing better. The only thing I’m a bit worried about is I’ve essentially abandoned overhead, which I know I’ll have to work back in when 2012 rolls around.
There is a good chance I’ll be at WNF this week, so I’ll try my best to represent Blanka well. My goal is top 4, but it really comes down to who I have to play.
Anyways, my quest of finding an alt is finally over, it’s Fei, but I’m not going to be going in too hard on him. I think the lifecyle of sf4 isn’t going to be particularly long, and I just know Blanka so well and I’ve put so much time into him that I’m going to just keep playing him and hopefully I can get good enough to win with him like Taku/Nishikin do.
Playing freestyle and offensively really depend of the match up i think, and the player’s style in front of you, stay versatile and adapt yourself constantly is the best way i think.
Good luck at the WNF !
Glad to hear all this…
Seriously I gotta see someone use Blanka’s overhead well… because i never really see a really good reason to use it… like the only time you can use it is after f.throw… but to give up the wake up game for the overhead just doesn’t seem worth it to me… like you said… maybe my mentality will change in AE 2012
-LAU
you can use it after sweep.
also playing the mirror on an orange bar connection is lol. all this guy did was hop forward grab, and I can’t punish hops on reaction. gg me
Yeah, cr.hk instant walkup to charged overhead hits second hit on Balrog, probably everyone else too.
Er… Most of the time I land c.Hk I’m nowhere next to my opponent…
actually make that nearly all the time I can’t remember when’s the last time I did a sweep when the opponent is next to me

sweep, hop/dash overhead works as a meaty. I’ve outlined this several times.
How is that good for anything? I’ve just spent the last few mins spd’ing/dp’ing/super/ultraing myself in training. Kens light dp gets hit, and middle punch dp hits once and lands unsafely though. Although hard and ex blow it up.
you can do a whiff rockcrusher to fake the overhead.
I mean meaty throw loses to reversals, and I bet you’ve never ever done that before!
Better not use cr.hp in footsies, your opponent might do random ultra!
