Thinking dumb stuff aloud,

I wonder if it’s ever worth doing a meaty slide against wake-up if you got it to hit on its last active frame, that’d actually put you at + wouldn’t it? It’d be kind of gimmicky and obviously lose to just about every reversal in the game but since people always look to hit sweep or another button to punish a blocked slide there might be some kind of shenanigan value there. Depends I guess how close it’d leave you based on the setup / pushback. Not much benefit from + if I’m nowhere near the guy. (shout outs to fp electricity)

That’s pretty cool. I think sometimes I hit focus instinctively after balling in a combo incase i drop the lp link before hand. If I’m doing that it’s probably best to dash back not knowing if I hit. But on hit I can get a frame trap from level 2. Would not have thought. That’s pretty awesome.

Yeah it loses to most reversals. It does well vs. Deejay’s and I think thats it as far as my testing went. Okay vs. some characters if they don’t have meter.

are there any setups for meaty slide?

cool!
gonna try some stuff when I get my new stick!

I think sweep, forward hop, slide should work.

sweep gives you 48 frames
forward hop takes 22, slide has 10 frame start up and 16 active, so that = 48. Or would it need to be 49… I’m kinda new to working out this meaty stuff so I’m not great with the numbers yet. Do not trust.

I couldn’t find this full list. I want to check out the other charge characters match ups. Got a link?

It’s in the tier thread now, just go back a bit, the image is embedded now.

So we organized a local tournament this past weekend using our own consoles/tvs/monitors and we had some lag problems…

One setup was my xbox/monitor on which I always play, yet me and several other people reported lag. Same problem with a friend’s ps3 that was hooked up to an asus monitor (in this case i find it even weirder since I’ve played in that ps3 before with a bigger tv with no noticeable lag).

Everyone was using their usual sticks/pads, no converters at all, and no streaming.

What do you guys think could’ve caused the lag? So far i can only think of the power supply of the place we rented.

Drugs

are you an online player? on and off makes a huge difference

dont know why the power supply should make a difference?

was ur monitor set on a game mode?

Does anyone else start sucking with Blanka after using another character for a bit?

Does make me hit training mode a bit more and practice things trying to get my groove back.

usually playing another fighting game before makes me suck at playing SF for a short bit…like playing Soul Calibur long enough you start hitting LK thinking you’re gonna block…

or the other way around where i’m holding back to block at Soul Calibur after playing SF for a long time…

(just an example… really sometimes playing extended period of another fightnig game and switching over usually screw me over for at least the first round)

Hey this is sort of important, one of Blanka’s throws has more range than the other. I noticed this awhile ago cause of the hitbox vids, but I didn’t really care that much.

I presume the longer range throw is backthrow, but I’m not sure. If anyone can find a setup that works with one but not the other, it’ll be confirmed for sure.

So help out, make your character not suck, etc.

one throw is .894 on first active frame and .931 on 2nd active frame, the other is .977 on the first active frame and 1.008 on the 2nd active frame.

Comparison
.894 puts him at the 6th worst throw range
.931 puts him at the middle

.977 puts him about 7th
1.008 IS CHUN LI THROW RANGE

I noticed after cl mk on certain characters kara throw not working occasionally. I think just holding forward solved the problem. So forward throw is better maybe? I’ll test this afternoon.

I join Ves’ Blanka Test Force

it’s really hard to test this! I tested vs Fei Long and it was quite surprising, that hit/hurtboxes change even when the chars do nothing!
Fei does move back and forth while standing, so sometimes a throw “hits” when it is actually out of range!
now I’m testing vs seth, cuz he doesnt seem to move!

hmm…i cant find a difference between both throws…

How do you know these numbers without knowing which throws they are? Will do some testing when I get home

.931-.894= .037 or 37% of a small grid square on training mode stage. May be too small to test and I have a 42" tv. I couldn’t tell a noticeable difference. All setups that worked with one worked with the other. Only tricky thing is if you have to walk forward a frame after the meaty you can’t do back throw quickly.

Nevermind, I just looked at the video. Shows the numbers but the animations are the same. Duh, no wonder you didn’t know. I can’t imagine it makes a difference, but the second throw that was .977 -> 1.008 appears to be kara’d off a standing short. As you can see the first frame of the short come out.
