Yeah I’m brutally abusive of my meter in some match ups. I definitely need to do it much less than I do at the moment, just wondering if when I do decide to play that card if I should play it a bit better.
I use too much meter on ex up ball. I should use super a lot more than I do. I use fa after a ball against those that can punish it on hit ans sometimes hold it for lvl 2 or 3 to try for a crumple. A lot of people don’t expect that.
hop/fake hop (aka dash) mixup into meaty cr.LK xx elec on wakeup is just fun!
it would be perfect if blanka shouts “hop” on dash too!
Yang is really tough IMO. Feeling it’s 6-4 for Yang.
**I don’t know what to make of the Seth matchup. I beat every online Seth even the decent ranked ones with good PP counts, and I lose to onlinetony free.
How many times a day do opponants jump/walk into an accidentally whiffed, but held, U1 for people here? I’d say on average three idiots a day for me. Oops, I forgot to let go of punches. Sorry.
I don’t whiff ultras very often at all.
I disagree on the yang match, i find it a gajillion times easier than yun. Yangs dive kick is worthless against blanka, its easy to counter with blankas options. Yang does have a solid ground game, but so does blanka, so i consider that a wash.
When i was in norcal last month i played one of the better yang’s in a tournament, and it was close but i pulled it through. Now i assume this yang didnt know the blanka match too well, but thats not the best excuse. I think the match is easier than yun, but maybe just be. Slower dive kick means im not afraid.
Maybe you should try, the odds are quite good that they’ll walk into it anyway.
haven’t played since OG sf4…
gonna hope back in the mix
w00t
never really learned any combos or anything, just relied on catching people and beatin them off 1 button (no combos is what I mean)
can;t ult…
Match ups are ez if you know the characters, the thing I don’t know is all the technical stuff
Ult2 looks crazy
Was it Rom?
Also I don’t think Yang does well because of divekicks, I feel that he’s harder to mixup than Yun, he’s harder to outfootsie, and I feel his strings are much better vs. blanka because he has a 3 frame low, and st.jab is +4 on block for no reason. Yang’s super is also much more intimidating for Blanka, and yang can build meter pretty well.
/2cents
I played Ike Takeda in tournament and we played a set after and he changed my opinion of the match as we played.
Favored to seth 6-4. I consider this the same as like akuma. Also seth’s dp is the best in the game so trying to do damage to him is not without risk.
The match up Seth is DUMB.
Gouki 6-4 ?
I think against Akuma the matchup is in Blanka’s favor until the very highest end of Akuma players. Akuma has to know all of the spacing, all of the setups, how to approach blanka’s waekup, etc.
If he has all of that down though he wins.
Sorry I missed this before.
If you dash forward you are +1 if the focus is blocked, though there is a gap, balls only do 17 frames of blockstun so there is a big gap there. However if you lvl2 FA on hit it’s actually a frame trap as there are only a frame between when the ball hitstun(26frames) ending and the lvl2 FA(28 frames).
After my opponent block elec, if i poke him, it’s a true blockstring ? Or if he smash something, he beat me ?
Seth vs Blanka is REALLY tough for blanka. He gets free oki on your wakeup because up balls are all punishable on hit. I think it got harder now because seth’s jumping fierce was more of a liability against blanka than most other characters. As a blanka player i would much rather fight a super seth than an AE seth with increased health making the punishment trades that much better for him. This matchup almost reminds me of something like rog vs gief where you need to control the match and not get knocked down because once you do you’re in serious trouble. Seth’s focus attack is really good against blanka too and can counter hit almost all his good pokes for a crumple. In certain situations a crumple break ball can be ultra punished to make matters even worse. My goals when playing this matchup are to stay just at max slide range for fireballs and keep a life lead. Watch out for tandem engines because if spaced right the guessing game after is very much against you (though i guess if you can do a yomi u1 you should basically win the match). I try to use throw trick gimmicks (stuff like throw, lp ball, lp elec fake meaty, and then throw walk backwards into mp ball right over them then throw, etc.) in the match because 2 or 3 throws in a row really matters against seth and once you have the life lead you can win if you avoid getting into sticky guessing game situations.
I think there are some things blanka has going for him in the matchup though too, as i said, mostly with the life lead when seth has to come to him as you sit ready to slide under his fireballs or up ball his jumps (anti airing seth early in the jump is always helpful since he has so many options to come down with, the most pesky being the dive kick that stuffs a lot and changes timing). Blanka’s normal anti airs are pretty good vs the divekick though (standing fierce and standing roundhouse). neutral jump fierce is less effective than most matches because of seth’s jumping mp though. Blanka’s back dash is nice against seth because it dodges his dp a little better than some other characters who will be hit by the tip of the dp if backdashed during a 50/50 situation. Be carefull with it since more and more Seth’s really like to use the tandem engine (thanks to poongko) to get big damage punishes against backdashers and in turn open up their mixup game even more. If you notice the seth likes to take the chance on tandems don’t be afraid to jump in and try to grab that life lead. If you have ultra one taking the chance on a jump in hk, cmk, ultra is well worth it. Just some random thoughts on a fight i have had a lot of experience in.
Awesome, thanks for the addtl Seth intel!! He can be a real pain when keeping you out with arms and booms at max distance, but I find NJ HP and nj in general works well. And I now use U2(thanks to advice here) since lots of online seths like to play keep away.
hey guyyys!
what can blanka hop through?
Can he do anything after prone? (Like MvC3 ) or like an advance FADC out of it into somethin?
can hop through pretty much anything after the first 4 frames have happened. It’s all relative though.
crouch is cancelable to all special moves, super, and FADC(don’t do this)
I hopped thru a starting Viper u1 yesterday by accident and electrocuted her on the far side. Haha.
