You know specific set ups for that ?
The one I do the most is f.throw, lp ball, take a step back, j.hp. It’s very ambiguous and you can’t dp it.
You think it’s useful vs good players ?
I have a hard time steering away from the trusty mk, so I dont mess with hp much, but it sounds tricky
I don’t suggest doing things unless they work against good players.
they can’t dp, and they have to guess what side to block. There is 0 reason for that not to be good.
I mean, if they dp but they don’t do a reversal, even it’s very ambiguous, they can break that ?
I’ve never had late dp work against that setup if I do it properly.
Any others setups ? Thanks.
Blanka’s b.throw doesn’t give you enough time they can auto correct dp.
You can do it off of sweep, but it’s a little tougher, no real trick to it.
that sounds good, but I worry about the “if I do it properly” part and often take the safe route.
It’s not hard to do, but sometimes you mess up you know?
If you have a 5% chance to mess up it outweighs everything else you can do vs. dp characters off of a throw.
makes sense, everyone messes up sometimes
There’s a setup with dictator that forces whiff on every reversal Ryu has. This setup has been around since Vanilla. The way to beat it? Non-reversal DP. Most high level Ryus know this. However, I’ve only seen one Ryu consistently try to time a non-reversal DP to stuff it. His name? Daigo.
Most good players would rather block than mistime their NON-REVERSAL DP.
Even if Ryu does non-reversal DP against some of Blanka’s setups it will still whiff or get stuffed. You have to do it really late, and that’s basically a guess because if Blanka just changes his timing slightly then Ryu eats the j.hp. Even off a simple b.throw, dash j.mk Ryu has to do his DP later than the usual auto-correct timing.
Well with that setup the good Ryus I’ve played uppcut me
Yeah you can’t use it if they know the timing. If you do normal late DP it comes out the wrong way and they get reset out of lp DP (don’t remember what happens with mp and hp). They have to delay it to the point where it will auto-correct.
U2 V U1
When to use U2 over U1? I really like U1 but need to learn how and when to use U2 and vs who and why. I reallllly like U1 a lot, but I havent really used U2, I dislike that its a DB charge, I dont like limited mobility charging but also dont want to limit myself to U1 alll the time.
Share your personal experiences with both? When Super came out, how did you feel U2 helped most? Thanks!
I’ve recently started using U2 a lot more. On ryu, sagat, evil ryu… For now anyway. I use it for keep away, zoning characters. Actually I might try it for dalsim too. U1 is my old reliable retaliation, wakeup mixup or chip kill ultra. Good as an anti air too, better than U2 aa crap. U2 current input is a lot slower and I find it useless for aa… Not fast enough, or wide enough. People see it and empty jump, usually landing beside me with enough time to taunt/charge ultra.
IMO, U2 is useful against turtle opponents.
Against Dhalsim, Ryu, Sagat, Gouki, Oni, E. Ryu, Chun-li, and maybe Guile (?), it can be good, because they can’t make their game normaly, and without ex or ultra/super, they need to stay close and have a hard time like that i think.
hmm ok, so ultra 2 will make them stay closer since they fear it, I see…when do you use it, only as a counter? usually when max distance away?
