Seriously though, a 7frame startup normal gets a 1frame on-hit adv buff. Like wtf use is it to link into in the first place? The on-hit-adv’s of a j.* move never really lets a 7frame startup normal be anyway useful at high level play. Anytime I actually manage a j.(rare to begin with) > link b/f,st.mp are when P2 fucks up due to conditioning or as a whiff punish. Where the fuck are the lasers? so I decided on an alt finally. Sakura. I’m playing her for the first time in months, winning like crazy, and I can consistently hit her harder combos now so I don’t feel gimped.
She doesn’t really help any of Blanka’s bad matchups as far as I know, but whatever.

excellent normals, spacing control, mixups on wakeup. probably a good fit for you. I don’t like alts that have a complete change in character style.
that’s why i main blanka/balrog and learning fei. they all play the same.

sakura is a good switch ves, shes muuuuch better than blanka. she has a 1 button AA so you dont need exceptional reflex genetics to play her to her highest level (unlike fei/sagat) and she has OS stuff and really damaging options from it including stuff that involves actually doing beefy fadc’s.
gouken is a similar fit for me, i actually play a decent ryu but i’ll never have the srk reflexes but i can qcb in ap inch no problem so now its just up to me to capitalise on tech traps into ex palm and safe divekicks vs the entire cast! much more fun than blanka.
shame my bp sunk to 2400 on monday, but i actually levelled up a bit and i think its nearly back up to 3000. man my blanka was pretty tough to have >5000 i remember i used to see people with 4000 pp and know they were going to be cake, now i see someone with 3000pp and i get sweaty palms lol! my gouken, is kinda gimped because i dont anti air, i’m saving it all for AE!
holiday. i was in shanghai last week. last few hours here though. waiting on the shuttle to take me back to the airport.
the level of play in shanghai is REALLY high. most players here in singapore are either casual players or roughly my level. i can get by pretty easily with my 3 chars (blanka, ryu and viper) here in SG, but in shanghai i got bodied 40:2 by a Vanilla Ryu player. 
all i have to say about AE at this point is fuck the twins and fei long.
edit: ok another thing i’ll say is that Oni’s st.hp is probably one of top 3 anti-air normals in the game.
blanka doesn’t beat ryu i told you this >:-)

Finally! PSN is back up so I can play again! A bit rusty with my alts but didn’t lose with Blanka at least.
I think Blanka has a slight advantage or it’s even.
I think with his buffed DP’s, super trap, trade Ultra and DP FADC Ultra damage Vanilla Ryu beats Blanka.
hmm maybe, I haven’t played against vanilla Ryu in forever, and I’m a much stronger player. I tend to not get DP’d a lot vs. Ryu. Also Ryu can trade ultra me in super in the situations where I generally trade with dp.
I think it’s closer to even, but I wouldn’t argue, haven’t played it in over a year. Always felt even to me though.
ugh my Sakura is getting exposed, why are her footsie buttons so terrible. I feel like vs. Gief and Akuma I just don’t really have any options. It’s like I’m fighting Rog with Blanka but I can’t control their wakeup.
Regarding ryu matchup, vanilla and super are old news, AE is the future, and ithink blanka footsies will do much better bc of the ryu mk rape. Distance and acrive frames were shredded, so blanka should have an easier time of navigating ryu. Ball nerf dont matter much bc blanka normals r relatively better.
Now ken on the other hand…?
