I’m wondering if I picked up Blanka properly, if I can cheese my way to top 8 at my local haha. I’ve beaten people numerous times by trolling. I had no intention of ever using Blanka but making someone rage is 50% of the game won amirite?
You can definitely top 8 a local with Blanka, most non top players are exceptionally weak to the character.
I’ve found that playing Blanka “properly” makes people less mad than playing him hyper aggressive/gimmicky though. Most people would rather lose to a fundamentally sound player than beat someone playing on purely low risk:reward coinflips.
I only troll people now when they get mad at me doing technically sound stuff and/or are really weak.
does anyone know if Blanka’s kara throw is slower than regular throw? and by how much?

kara throw is 4f as opposed to 3f for normal throw, blanka can’t late kara any of his moves as far as I know.

Still. We could get together and make a polished and formal set of suggestions for Blanka. That literally do the bare minimum necessary to fill the real holes (not flaws) in his character design.
They haven’t opened suggestions for Blanka yet but we should get ready for when they do. So we can stand out among the mess of “MAKE ELECTRIC INVINCBUL PLZ”
It would be nice to have actual blockstrings. Or some frame advantage =[ I also wish his dash was faster so his FA would be even better.
I have a bad feeling that Blanka is going to get the nerf stick…I actually like his iteration right now - I feel it is generally fair.
What I’d like that I feel is reasonable
- Make his cr. lk 3 frame startup (same recovery and active, thus cr. lk -> cr .lk is a 2 frame link now)
- Change inputs so you can neutral cl. mp while charging, and not just off a jump-in (i.e. not just with upback).
- Slightly faster startup for U2 - would love hakan input for anti-air U2
There are other things I’d want, but don’t think it will happen. I think only minor changes will be made. I can’t imagine they will nerf ball anymore. I could see some kind of a hop nerf even though it is already weak, just because scrubs will complain about it. I’ve also learned to love the overhead - they better not nerf that back…
b.mp not being overhead is a bad idea.
Can’t tell if you’re replying to me, but I’m not implying that - I’m just suggesting an alternative way to keep charge on grounded cl. mp, not replacing the overhead version. Someone here had a good idea how to change the input to allow both.
b+HP for overhead instead of b+MP will be freaking awesome.

Lmao I’ve noticed this. Even people like Daigo has had his issues against solid Blankas. I usually go to him if someone is trolling and I troll back, or I’ve give up in tournament e.g. Bison/Guile. Other than that I pick him online when it lags. Offline I actually try to combo rather than hop shenanigans. I love doing j.hk, cr. mk, St. lp, ex ball fadc sweep. I done it once in the corner with the j. hk crossing up on Guy.
Went to the Blanka thread at Capcom Unity forums. Wow at all the people asking for Blanka nerfs! I’m still on the first page!
People are still crying for more hop nerf and ball nerf!.. if u cant jab a hop then just quit sf4 cuz ur reactions are doo doo.
Capcom Unity was probably one of the worst places to ask for balance feedback.
Agreed. The stuff I saw on Bison alone was hilarious. It’s full of online players that don’t even know the basics of the game. Then again, known tournament players are giving stupid suggestions too so their bad matchups get nerfed.
Used Blanka on a Seth player, made him scared to mix up, was delicious and got a perfect. 
Came 9th this weekend at what I guess is now the UKs biggest tourney since SvB disappeared. I somehow went out to a Gouken. My defense is so, so bad. Ate frame traps and let him flip at me. As good as that match is for us, 2 mistakes a round is all you get >.<

I got some ok stuff going off backthrows but it’s like I forgot how to ground game entirely. So I just became desperate to throw him at all costs. Also dropped mk,st.jab xx ball twice and ate a denjin D: Shout outs to stream set up nerves.
Also blocked an ex palm, and tried to ultra before the block stun finished haha. So I just walked up and did throw.
It’s ok mate I’m a shadow of my former self when it comes to the game too. I know the feeling of forgetting everything. I see fword and all my friends and wish I’d kept it up. Why’d you stop playing?
