<font face=“Arial”>ves you had at least a couple of games in the bag but couldn’t close the deal!</font><div><font face=“Arial”>maybe being a bit less defensive at the end could’ve sealed those rounds</font></div><div><font face=“Arial”><br></font></div><div><font face=“Arial”><span style=“line-height: 1.7em;”>otherwise nice spacing and usage of standing fierce and the lp ball setup after fwd throw</span><br></font><div><font face=“Arial”>oh, and the 3 ex hori ball ftw</font></div></div><div><font face=“Arial”><br></font></div><div><font face=“Arial”>good shit overall</font></div>

yeah I was just a litttle nervous, didn’t want to choke so bad that i choked. haha

All I can say is the lack of anti-airs in the end really did you in.  Especially certain situations where u could upball, and instead just seemed to get hit.  <div><br></div><div>Good games regardless.</div>

yeah, I attribute most of my round losses to miss aa or dropped combos.<div><br></div><div>I didn’t play my best, but I’m 1 month into play again, I’ll run it back.</div>

just wanna throw this out there… really haven’t tested this… but i’ve been consistently using this during match play… and never gets punished by stuff that usually kills LP ball on block like Cody’s EX 236K… so I suspect it’s a safe ball setup<div><br></div><div>LP electricity blocked, s.lp xx lp ball</div><div><br></div><div>i use this pretty damn often… usually after a lp whiff ball straight into lp electricity… i’m pretty sure the other electricity works as well… but there’s really not much point in doing the other electricity straight out of lp whiff ball simply because they come out slower unless you’re doing EX… but if you’re doing EX… you should be doing jab xx electricity pressure/throw mind game pressure instead.</div><div><br></div><div>-LAU</div>

yeah you can use elec to setup safeball strings, but it can be pretty erratic depending on when you go for it.<div><br></div><div>Also I hate whiff ball/anything. Everyone I play in sets consistently punishes it so I’m scared to try it on players who I don’t have much experience vs. yet.</div>

Well for me… really depends on match up… but if I’m consistently getting punished either during whiff ball or LP/MP ball… it means i’m being too predictable with it… depending on if they are hitting me before or after landing it’ll tell me a lot on what i should be doing.<div><br></div><div>If they are hitting me before landing consistently… it’ll mean they are either mashing something like c.LP… or they got the timing down… which means my HP or EX ball will hit them… if they try again…</div><div><br></div><div>if they are beating me after i landed… that means they are gonna block a lot of MP ball/LP safe ball or i should simply go for footsie… and obviously if they can easily punish MP ball or any ball… then it’s just a match up issue. </div><div><br></div><div>Honestly… I have played against plenty of players… even semi famous players that starts off consistently punishing my ball/whiff ball… but after mixing it up with the above… with some good footsie game… I really haven’t found a player that consistently beat ALL ball options… unless it’s what I mentioned at the beginning and it’s a match up issue… where blocking LP ball will get you punished.</div><div><br></div><div>In general… for me… the less options you give yourself the more predictable you are… </div><div><br></div><div>-LAU</div>

it’s not a “predictable” thing, people just react and blow me up. When I play the mirror I consistently punish whiff balls. It is not a quick move.<div><br></div><div>When you’re playing a player with really good reactions you can’t do that sort of stuff. The risk:reward is just awful.</div>

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>Ves:</span></font><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><br></div><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”>Perhaps you’re skeptical of me and the players I play with simply because I don’t really compete in SSF4, however I have been competing in fighting games long ago and now retired from it… I have represented a country before, have played in world tournaments and on the big stage and at one point did make a name for myself… just not in SSF4. </div><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><br></div><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”>in ssf4 however I have traveled around the world and do go to the best arcades and have even played against several sponsored players (not the top ones… unfortunately), and played against some of the top players in my local community and did pretty well. I do admit I am NOT a top tier player in any way… and it’s mainly due to my lack of dedication to the game… however please do not think I’m just some scrub who only played against other scrubs. Finally I’m not the type of player who will beat another player and go around telling everyone I beat him/her… </div><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><br></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>From my own personal experience part of the reason why people can react to certain things much faster than other besides from reaction time… is really due to anticipation. If a player anticipates a certain sets of moves that person can react much faster compared to if they are panicking from pressure and is overwhelmed by it… it’s the same reason why lots of ryu players like to throw out s.LK or gouken’s doing s.MP, or sagat doing c.LP etc… and for me… although nothing looks like the ball… i do find throwing random moves like s.LP/s.LK sometimes helps… even doing something like charge buffer on LK rainbow from far into LP/EX ball immediately will often times hit players who don’t expect you to have a back charge… along with other stuff… I think I have a close to 80-90% HP successful hit rate… (outside of combos) simply because i rarely throw it… and only throw it when i see certain patterns from my opponent who are usually trying to stuff LP/MP ball… </span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”><br></span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>anyways… this is just from my personal experience… perhaps asians have slower reactions… who knows.</span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”><br></span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>-LAU</span></font></div>

There were a few people I used to play who would always hit me and usually combo me off any whiff ball. It’s pretty slow I know I used to combo whiff balls in the mirror 100percent of the time when I wasn’t even looking out for it and my reflexes were shit

posting here cause the SFxT blanka forum seems to be dead but if anyone is interested in seeing what he has to offer in that game ill be uploading ranked SFxT matches on a regular basis

unfortunately Blanka forum in SSF4 is pretty dead as well

I should probably make a new discussion thread or something, but trying to focus on my actual gameplay and actually making my video tutorial :frowning:

the j.HP against shotos after forward throw. I finally decided to try to get that down. Doesn’t seem to work right for me, what am i doing wrong.

Overhead -> s.LP is definitely harder or near impossible against certain characters it seems… like Cammy… at least thats what it seems when she’s crouched… it seems half the time she’s out of range even if you try to do it point blank… so… if you land the overhead against her… might be a good idea to just go on defense and bait out the dp… or go for the ultra… if you want… rather than go for s.LP… which might miss and you’ll definitely get dp

Also… i didn’t really realize this before… until recently… (probably old news to most)

but… if you do Overhead -> s.LP xx LP/MP/HP ball you can NOT FADC (and probably can’t super it means) out of it… HOWEVER… if you do EX Ball… you can FADC into whatever…

Finally… not really 100% sure… it’s possible to Slide after EX Ball FADC only if you’re doing it relatively far… and not too close… so… far s.LP xx EX Ball -> FADC -> slide is definitely doable… or at least much easier compared to CLOSE s.LP xx EX Ball -> Fadc -> slide (which i haven’t gotten off once yet)…

Also… not confirmed… but seems like HP electricity might be too slow after certain range… but i’m not sure if this is character specific or i’m messing up the commands and not doing it fast enough… but one thing for sure is at certain range it’s definitely harder compared to others…

It’s tricky to time for sure, and j.mk randomly works better vs. ken for whatever reason.

@ Lau being able to fadc ball after overhead and the 10+ frame followups to ex ball fadc is all character specific, someone made a chart of the ex ball followups but I’m too lazy to dig it up, I think it’s in this thread though.

Been playing with max range slide recently… seems like it’s completely safe… and probably only punishable only by something like Ryu’s Super or the likes… wonder if it’s a viable strategy to abuse it with your footsie game… (obviously if you are super predictable… it’s super dangerous… but which move isn’t when you’re that predictable)

Max range slide is + frames actually, the problem is reaction focus and guess focus. If you notice someone isn’t using focus and isn’t blocking low it’s prety solid though. I’ve been using it more because I realize blanka just kind of isn’t that good so you need to take risks.

So I played online for the first time in ten months today. Pp started off at 2000 then I played one guy and it jumped to 3800. Then I logged off and when I came back it was around 2000 again. And I couldn’t be bothered to play blanka so I picked honda, who is awesome and easy

That’s good to know… well Blanka does have decent tools to go against focus… so i guess i’ll definitely be using this more…

anyways… did some labwork again…

will post it in the oki section.
