Charleston SC, Prepare Yourself!

Yeah i have TvC on WII i like the game play takes me back to the Xmen vs SF days … You have double team combos and you have the awesome super cancel which is nice… Just not used to having 3 attack buttons and one partner button took some time getting used to it, but the aerial rave cancel is nice to pull in so that you can stack your Combos in mid air without being punish by a push super like was done in MVC2 with tag in and out… plus took something from GGXX Burst attack so you can snap out of a combo if someone decides to get cheezy with infinites… Actually been playing both that and SF4 like both of them… I was reading on the Capcom site that with the successful launch of the game they said in “i quote” “There will be more improvements to be released in future SF titles” so that shows me that its like SF3 all over again first 2 were ok then 3rd strike came out and it was perfect in my opinion, so i see the SF series continuing from here on out. Think Capcom likes hearing things about there games so they actually can give hardcore fans what they want

ah hem… FUCK SAGAT!!!

LoL @JV sounds like everyone picked up their characters and learned them quickly

ok I see what your saying @Icege

Sagat is absolutely worth learning IMO. Out of the top 20 Japanese players, Sagat is on there a whopping 7 times. (http://www.versuscity.net/2009/02/26/street-fighter-4-power-players/) The #1 player is a Ryu player, followed by like 3 Sagats.

How do you get those cool Chun Li pants for Sagat?? I see Ojisan’s Sagat wearing them in his matches on youtube.

If there is one thing that makes me truely love SF4, it’s the fact that I can still beat the shit out of the top tier characters with a low tier Claw.

One of my favorite things to do online is pick Claw against Sagat and combo into EX Wall Dive.

Best balance evaaar.

Sup fellas,

just wanted to introduce myself to everyone as I’ve been on this forum for a month now and just now saw that there was a area for SC players to post. Right now i’m playing SSTHDR and i’m going to mixing in some SF IV also. Defintely looking for some guys to play against whenever I get the chance. Obviously everyone right now is playing SF IV. Is there anyone here in SC that still plays SSTHDR that wouldn’t mind playing me for the PS3? You guys can add me if ya want. My PSN is: Hi-Tek_Saint

The fact is that Capcom made 3P and 3K DEFAULTS to the button layout on controllers, and the 8 button sticks. Also the rules have always been that you have to play by the default control layout, so I don’t see how using the 3P and 3K in the default layout is cheating. It is Common Sense to play a game by default controls. If I were at the arcade, then that would be different. But it is not, so you make no sense by saying that.

DEFAULT controls means that I am not setting them… In Tekken I play default controls, and every other game I play default… So for anyone on here that says people playing on DEFAULT controls is stupid, or cheating clearly have no common sense, and they have issues…

Also if it was illegal, then the Gamestop wouldn’t have allowed it at their tourney… Ask yourself why does the new SF4 stick come with eight buttons?? Common sense says so you can play the game with DEFAULT controls… Otherwise it would have came out with only 6 buttons.

Some people will say anything on a thread to make an argument on a topic that is basic Common Sense…

:confused::looney:

Sagat combo is mad easy. After you dp, FADC as fast as possible and wait a second for the character to fall before you f+hk. Otherwise, you’ll f+hk past them. Then Ultra away.

A suggestion though: Play a character you enjoy, not just because they’re top tier. This isn’t MvC2. The tiers aren’t spread so far apart that somebody playing Sagat because they’re top won’t get their shit pushed in by somebody playing Vega because they enjoy the character.

As far as getting stuff done, you’re not the only one. All of us have lives for the most part. I wouldn’t worry about people trying to hit you up.

 You can’t use Gamestop as an example man, you know that. They didn’t even let people use joysticks.

3P & 3K is an unfair advantage. It’s given to pad players because it’s difficult to hit them on a controller. SNES Street Fighter never had a 3P or 3K button, and the arcade cabinets never did. It’s strictly for casual gamers to make it easier. Therefore, in casuals or while chilling, use them all day. Hell, I get lazy and just hit one button on my stick in training mode. In tournaments though, that won’t fly, so I’m trying not to make it a crutch.

Final Round and Evolution make it illegal to have button macros.

Why are people even discussing it? How bad did you beat Thomas?

SFIV stick also came with 8 buttons to give people the different layouts. You have SNKs 4 across. You have Japanese style contoured for the first 6, American straight for the last six.

Gamestop is a national tourny just like any other tourney. All tourneys have diffent rules that leave it up to personal opinion to agree or disagree with the rules. So if you are saying in a tourney they won’t allow it isn’t true. Gamestop allows it, and the others allow it for SC4. the diffence is that SC4 you actually map it, and in SF4/EX4 it is the default.

Not playing Default controls is like driving a car w/o the tires. They are there for a reason… EX1-3 had these same exact controls on the ps/ps2 versions. I play tekken, and every other game defaults so I don’t get why playing default controls is a bad thing all of a sudden. Also you can do the same thing on stick with 8 buttons, but you choose not to.

It is not my fault that you choose not to play with default controls.

I didn’t lose at all at Thomas’s, but is was just casuals so I wasn’t playing serious. He may have been, but I dunno. It was just good ole fun times, and I thanked him for the invite.

:nunchuck:

Josh: You’re an idiot for arguing with Paul. He’s right in this situation and it’s just sad for you to keep it going… >_>;;

One weird thing I’ve noticed about SF4 is people are finding characters fun that they might have never played before. Chris never played Boxer, but really enjoys him in this game. I really enjoy Sagat, which I didn’t think was gonna happen. (Dictator, El Fuerte, and Sakura are fun city too)

So lol at Josh telling people not to tier whore. lol. Some people have fun by winning, and playing a high tier character is how they win, thus have fun, so let them play whoever for whatever reason man. Everyone but Paul here is a grown ass man, let them play the damn game Josh. I swear you’re like my father minus the abusive aspect. And the crack. But other than that. Yeah. I said it.

Any tips on FADCing? That’s what I have the hardest time with, A: remembering to FADC a move period, since normally I uppercut and be done with it lol, it’s hard for me to FADC on reaction I guess. And B: Normally, I just do the FA and don’t get the dash which is pretty annoying. I feel not being able to hit the target combo of uppercut, fadc, fhk, ultra makes me a lamer :frowning:

Biggest ways to land Sagat’s ultra (Imho)
Uppercut, fadc, fhk, ultra
fhk anti-air, fhk, ultra (I can and do use this one!)
(jfk), cr mk, (ex or norm)tigershot, FADC, ultra?

I think you can land it after a normal aa fk too, not sure, haven’t tried.

Ultra’s are fun to counter dash punches from Balrog.

Which knee should I use in most situations? FK knee recovery seems kinda shitty, should I shelve it outside of combos and kara kneeing across the screen?

Ex knee can cross up ducking characters, which on block results in me getting thrown, which sucks :frowning:

FK beats out just about anything every invited by Jesus.

I’ma try and get some good games in today vs Chris, and maybe get some online games in too. I’ll post findings. It won’t be anything epic I just like talking strat here vice the Sagat thread.

This isn’t an argument. It’s a simple statement of what is. I’m not arguing about anything. If you’ve read anything I’ve put up, you’ll have seen that I’ve said to go right ahead and use the macros, but to be careful because most tournaments will not allow them. In fact, look at what’s coming up:

Final Round. Therefore, no 3P & 3K.

I never said to NOT tier whore. I suggested picking a character because they appealed to the Josiah, not because of the tier list. I mentioned this because I know he likes MvC2 where you kind of have to pick top tier to survive, and when 3S + CvS2 were at the arcade he wanted to know the tiers first. As of right now, the game is fairly close in terms of tiers so rather than be concerned with who is best in order to make a decision, he should pick whoever appeals to him. If the only thing that appeals to him is the tier list, then by all means pick Sagat :P. I’m an MMA whore, so yaye Abel.

Paul: You must have kicked his dog or something for him to start the 3P/3K nonsense on both boards :P. If you want to use semantics though and say that not ALL tournaments will disallow macros, then you’re right. Some won’t. However, MAJOR tournaments that are RESPECTED will not. The Gamestop tournament is not a respected tournament for many reasons. Final Round and Evolution are respected.

Moving on before this gets out of hand

Yeah, this is not something important enough to argue about. I’ve already said that I think 3P and 3K should be allowed for pad players (I’m not one, btw), but if the tourneys don’t like it… You’d be better off not using it at all.

Josh is right about the whole tier thing. This is definitely NOT the game to base your picks on tiers. Sagat is only a 7-3 in his best matchups which is really not that bad at all against a decent Claw or Fuerte. So, if you pick someone just 'cause of the tiers… you’re gonna end up hurting your game in the long run, because that character might not be the best match for you or your style.

When’s the PnT tourney by the way?

Oh, and I’m about to replace the buttons in my HRAP. The button layout is kinda weird, but if I change the layout to “Arcade Stick” in the options of SF4 it works fine. Should I just remap the buttons to the controller layout while I’m in there? I’m wondering about it because the TE FightStick is the same layout as the controllers, so it’s making me think that I should do it for tourneys and stuff (no button changing allowed).

MMA whores unite! CoD -> FADC -> Urien Elbow -> Ultra ftw.

Now I’m leaning more towards Dictator and Abel. So many good characters, can’t decide on just one.

I just wanted Paul to know if he went to a tourney and played SF4 and they saw him using shoulder buttons he will be DQ or not allowed to use them. I just want him to know that, so he can compete. I don’t want to go to a tourney and hear how it was stupid or something. I don’t really care about losing to Paul or whatever because there is bigger fish to fry than him.

John: Did u get my message on myspace???

Yeah, that’s right! Not just any Josiah…but THE Josiah! I like that! :wgrin:

I agree with The Josh

Well damn. I have to call you The Josiah from now on

PnT tournament is in West Ashley on 3/7. Gamestop is running one at Anime Charleston on 3/1.

Thomas: The Paul.

Something I think would be good to kind of get out, I don’t think we should be trying so much to “prove” we’re better than one another or even say who we can beat. Granted we should be trying to mash each other’s face, but I think it’d be pretty awesome if we could set egos aside and just work on making each other better and give credit where credit is due. A lot of times, people will start talking about who they can beat (I’m guilty of this too) or who they they’re better than. Word gets around and things eventually get hostile. Though it is just games, that kind of talk can be pretty disrespectful.

What’s everyone using for titles/icons?

Josh we need to play together sometime. Whenever u are available. Just let me know.

I’m using the smallest leaf sprout as my icon with “Fledgling Fighter” as my title.

I’ll hit up the Anime Charleston tourny, as well as the play and trade one.

I just want to be the best I can be. As long as I’m improving I don’t care who I win or lose to. I’d hate to lose and not be able to take anything from it, but as long as that doesn’t happen I’m straight. <3

I’m better than Duffey though. Real talk.

That’s the only way I like to play casuals. I like to play and deconstruct matches afterward, going over where they can get more damage and more situations for punishment against my character and vice versa. Mostly basic stuff, don’t wanna give away too much and get my ass kicked all the time. :]

Probably won’t make it to the Anime Charleston one, but I’m gonna try my hardest to make it out to the PnT.

As far as title/icon, I tend to switch my title between Buster Ace and some Gold Combo trial ones that I like and my icon is either a box head of Dictator, Abel, Rufus or the random Japanese sign thing.

If you need a ride to the Anime Charleston tourny I got you my fellow summerville brothern :stuck_out_tongue:
