Charleston SC, Prepare Yourself!

the whole argument is pointless since we all use sticks, but let’s see you reliably hit 3p or 3k on an xbox pad. :stuck_out_tongue:

Is this a post from 2005? Are we time traveling now? :stuck_out_tongue:

You can mod the TE stick with the Cthulhu board I believe so there’s that option if you wanted to play on someone else’s PS3 with your stick.

And for what it’s worth, the game runs identically on both systems. Load times are obviously different unless you do an install which would be very much worth it on the PS3 given the slow loading drive and on the 360 load times are pretty okay whether you do it or not.

naw, I’d just be bitter about not being able to use my 150 dollar joystick at a tourny.

Whoops, crazy double post with the SRK board being wonky and barely working it seems. I’ll have to get Chris to help me mod my stick so I can play with whoever wherever. Nice!

Thanks for the term tutorial @Icege I know these strats but I’m not term saavy. so say i have bison and I trick a person into whiffing a shoryuken by playing in and out of sweep range with pokes, teleports, and back dash then punish with a c.roundhouse to put em on their ass and set up his head stomp mixup… that is NOT footsie?

using 3p & 3k is a crutch

No one talk SF4 strats with John. We are still mad at him for playing it 8 months before the rest of us.
What’s up John? Where the heck you at now? When you coming back?

Hey Pistol Shrimp you can play on any console you want to. Only real players play on the Playstation3 though. You play FPS on the XBox 360. That’s an unwritten rule. Your gonna get arthritis trying to do combos on that orthopedic pad.

Hey, my friend Jerry lives up in Summerville. Best street fighter player in South Carolina. Do you know him?

cvs2 took a year to grow on me

maybe this game wont feel so clunky and playable when i get a stick for 360

some people fail at english

That IS footsies. What ISN’T footsies is peppering them with s.mk whenever they’re in range along with whatever normals you have. You’re poking them. If you’re keeping people out at a certain range, that’s zoning.

Think of footsies being movement, requiring your feets. A way of zoning but with a lot more focus on baiting whiffs.

Funny ass picture that Duffey linked to me. Too true for online scrubs: http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1470/kenflow.png

lol. It’s getting insane. I feel like playing all these online scrubs over and over is ruining me.

LOL, same here…I just call that shit “paper scissors rock”…

I hope SF IV blows up so Capcom will make MvC3.

Hopefully shoryuken.com will stop fucking up all the time w/ the new upgrade

Kenflow chart had me dying. It’s funny most of you people actually know me :stuck_out_tongue:

I am super stoked to get more games in with you guys!

BTW, I have the 150 dollar stick for 360, and that’s the system I play on.

Do you play 3S Shrimp ?

Naw. I learned a bit of Chun and Makoto, but I never really got into it. I was more of a MvC2 player but I’m full time SF4 now.

So this guy at Gamestop in the mall told me that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom will be released in America as Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

I have never heard that before…how true is that?

There’s a 99.9% chance that MvC3 will never ever ever ever happen.

Capcom doesn’t have the rights to the series anymore and Marvel pulled it’s rights back. I forget where I read it (it was years ago) but Marvel made an official statement about not having any future plans of doing anymore in the Vs. series. They did however announce their own “fighting game” which was Rise of the Imperfects (translation: Garbage)

So I wouldn’t expect an MvC3 anytime soon, if ever. I keep hearing good things about TvC, though. Heard it was a lot more like MvC1 which is more up my alley. Tried 2 and it never really stuck. Felt like too much of a step away from the Capcom style.

2 characters is good, 3’s a crowd imho.

Word on the street is this. Activision no longer has the rights to Marvel, and no one else is picking them up. I guess I coulda just said EA, since EA owns Activision but whatever. Basically, if Capcom wanted to do MvC3, they could negotiate with Marvel for a one game deal and do it.

I heard they are going to use the TvC engine, and probably all the capcom chars plus maybe a few more, and do MvC3 with that. Who knows. We’ll see.

Hey John check your Myspace Messages.

TVC 2 is a possibility being talked about. The first one owned my free time until sf4 dropped.

TVC’s engine has a couple of glitches that would need to be worked out before they would just cut and paste marvel char’s in. so ima have to say that rumor won’t come to fruition

I finally got this game today for 360 (first time I ever played it). I also bought a street fighter pad (they ran out of joysticks) and the Prima strategy guide. I was practicing exclusively with Sagat because Marvel made me tier whore :wgrin:. And, Sagat is currently the best character according to the Prima strategy guide and the arcade tier list.

Pros:
-the game has nice graphics, a pretty opening scene even though I skipped it because I just wanted to actually play
-I like the fact that there’s no lag at all…or if there is, its unnoticeable…this is the first fighting game I ever played online with no lag…that by itself, makes it worth playing imo
-its pretty cool how when you’re in arcade mode, people can interrupt your game like you’re in a real arcade…but, what if I didn’t want to get interrupted and I wanted to just play the CPU, is there a way to disable that?
-characters have a lot of costumes, a lot of unlockable stuff, keeps the replay value high
-pretty cool anime movies occur to tell the story
-a lot of the shit I know from CvS2 can translate to SF4
-there’s ALWAYS competition online it seems, I can’t even start fighting the first CPU opponent in arcade mode because people keep interrupting my game (that actually could be considered a con if you just wanted to practice on the CPU for a while)
-faster than CvS2 it seems

Cons:
-slower than Marvel :arazz:; I agree with Chi in that it kind of moves weird/clunky at first, but you get used to it after a while
-its still to early to say, but my first impression tells me its a turtle friendly game, I could be wrong though
-NO CUSTOM COMBOS!!
-Blanka looks really, really ugly in this game…I just had to get that out
-gotta’ get used to that move where you parry but you’re not really parrying in a CvS2 kind of way (focus attacks?)
-STEEP learning curve to do advanced combos…like, for example, with Sagat, you can Tiger Uppercut, cancel with a focus attack, which you cancel that with a dash, then supposedly kick them while they are in the air, and go into his ultra combo…I was trying that shit for hours in training mode and the best I could do was tiger uppercut, focus attack canceled into the focus dash, tiger knee…they make it look so easy in this video:
http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/23807

So, there’s my first impression. IMO, its a good game, not a great game. But, we’ll see if my opinion of it changes, it is just a first impression after all. The best part is the lack of lag on the internet and massive replay value because of that.

Please don’t harass me to get on Live to play…while it is a good game, I just got other stuff I gotta’ do. If I didn’t have to do other stuff, then, yeah, I’d probably be online more often. During spring break, I may be playing more.

For now, I just want to muscle memorize the Sagat combos. I’m not picking nobody else but Sagat until I do.
