Guy, look. Phrases like “If played smartly” mean nothing. They imply an difference in skill between two hypothetical users which is not what a tier list is based around. Kuroda tears it as Q, and makes Q seem deceptively good, but it’s far too easy to forget that it’s ALL Kuroda’s work. Gimmicks and one person’s smart play mean nothing in calculating pure character advantages.
Actually, fast rushdowns don’t give Ganon as much trouble as you’d think. This is due to the fact that, even though he has shit for grab range, he has a good OoS game. Stomp out of shield, jab out of shield. He also has b-air which is a good anti-air (has good range, priority, and speed) and keeps a lot of characters that try to advance with aerials at bay.
Mario aint as bad as I initially thought. He just dies horribly to people with range/priority.

If he truly wanted to prove Fox was where he was, he should’ve disclosed those “advanced” techniques he allegedly found. And since a Japanese site’s tier list is quite frankly, more ass random than stuff we tend to do, I’ll take SRK’s word over that until proven otherwise.

Seriously, that tier list is really… weird. Most of it is upside down. One thing’s funny though, is that Snake doesnt have any arrows or such, and seems like he always maintains being S tier, haha 
I remember reading somewhere that they base tier lists on weekly tournaments and the like, so that tier list may not be really reliable, but if thats the case, then it shows that somebody might have placed high with Fox, and so on.
I find tier lists based on ACTUAL RESULTS instead of WILD SPECULATION to actually be more accurate myself. I know I’m just crazy.

this is the reason I don’t take too much interest in tier lists. just about every char has some tool that makes them able to compete.
question though. If a person using the same gimmicks and smart play consistently beats a great player who uses top tier chars, would the char tier lists be affected by that, or would the character stay exactly where he is?

At this point it’s not really theory since we all have a pretty good handle on what each character is capable of.
It is very likely in that case that person A (the one winning through smart play) is simply much better than person B and it wouldn’t matter what characters were chosen. As such, no, it doesn’t affect the tiers. However, let’s say that later on we have established the greatest Snake and Ganondorf players in the world… all but proven due to consistent tournament results. If that Ganon beat that Snake, then MAYBE something would happen.
Of course everyone has tools to compete, but that’s what the tier list is about. Who has the best and most varied tools when weighed against the other charcters’ tools with reference to top-level play.
I like to think I play smartly most of the time but one thing is for sure I definitely use the same “gimmicks” with mk over and over again to win. But if I play that same person using bowser or ganon instead I usually lose.
