I’m just going to explain Samus’s lack of oomph by saying that the Subspace Army significantly drained the potency of her Power Suit, and therefore the Zero Suit is her only option.

Yeah you’re right, and here I was thinking of chaingrabs. Quick throws can separate them, but chaingrabs are useless since one IC can always interrupt it. But knocking the IC’s apart in the first place is harder in Brawl because of how fast they resynch.
Samus is already low tier, but I think I’ll move Yoshi up to it from bottom tier.
Hilarious fact: if the nakita missile and Samus’s homing missile collide…the nakita missile WINS. Effing stupid chozo technology.
Samus is seriously the most nerfed character imo. I find the only ground moves she has that are worth mention are her d-tilt, screw attack definatly got better and uh…

I loved the fact that an simple assassin with a sword a molecule in width can scare Batman like that, she was one of my favorite characters.
And yes I do feel your pain, at least Batman Beyond ended before it jumped the shark- although they still had many more potential stories to do.
Well it’s a multi-purpose tool, and considering how many characters have disjointed hitboxes in this game they should’ve considered amping up the priority. I’m seriously considering becoming a Nintendo playtester just to prevent such things.
If an attack was deep (hilt of Marth’s sword) or you did it too late it would still hit you, but in Brawl a distanced attack can still tear through your Cape.
You could be right. But you have to realize that combos and priority were two of the few things that kept polarization from happening completely in Melee. Unless you played on the highest level of tournament play you could still win with higher-mid characters because certain lower tiered characters at least had some high class traits to abuse. (Hell, I think even Mewtwo has won a tourney or 2.)
But in this game if you’re out-prioritized that’s it. None of Yoshi’s attacks beat out Snake’s,** NONE**. They won’t even clash in starting frames. Although lower tiered characters like Mario and Falcon seem to be designed to be combo characters, the engine fights against them to do any chains that can kill.
So now projectile experts with high priority are favored in this game, and thus, I can foresee a great divide.
I actually killed Charizard with it once, high altitude though. A killer hit at the end would be nice, considering she barely has that ability.
In fact, I thought they simply changed her kill moves around, then I played her for days on end only to find out the detracted from her. :sad:
Speaking of forseeing, I can only imagine wolf getting pushed down the list later on. For a character who has an up b that goes so far he retardly easy to edge guard agianst. I’ve been beating wolf players with Falcon consistantly just because I force them to chase me to the edge. From my play experience the match just isn’t in wolf’s favor once the battle goes off the stage.
I’ve seen wolf players hit their opponent of the ledge and still lose.

No, we’re not playing Samus wrong. She got the nerf bat so bad and she wasn’t even that high on the tier list.
samus was one of the best melee chars. i think she was like 7th or 6th out of like 25 chars and her recovery was insane. I think the nerf was warranted… but you guys are definetly blowing the nerf out of proportion… i fail to see what gannondorf, yoshi, mario, captain falcon, dk, bowser, have on samus. Just because her projectiles aren’t spamable in this game makes them crappy… but shes far from unusable and with good spacing is acutally pretty good.

Her missiles are “okay” Straight ones that is. Homing ones are ASS.
well since missile cancelling is virtually gone it’s way harder to really use any of samuses missile trixies that made them so dope in melee. their damage is dece but spaming them is so much harder than they’re easy to avoid.
i think the actual biggest nerf isn’t in actual abilities but how the games physics cater to samus. in melee samus was one of the characters that was like impossible to combo. it was hard to get things going vs a samus because of floatiness and up-b out of shield, especially if they spaced well and missile spammed. in brawl no body can combo anybody so this removes one of samuses biggest advantages.
She was ranked 8th but thats besides the point. This is exactly what I was saying around the beginning of this thread, but absolutely no one agreed with me. So I was the only one arguing for her behalf, and I eventually had to move her down because everyone else had opposing views.
I disagree. I’m not saying that Samus is the worst character in the game, but the nerfing was unnecessary and stupid. The reason why Samus was good in Melee was because of wavedash and her basic design (floaty, good normals and heavy). Apart from the semi-useful SWD she didn’t have any glitch based overpowering factors which is why her rank at 7 (or 8 IIRC) was satisfactory.
Her aerials and tilts are nice in Brawl but they don’t really do anything significant. Power Missiles have no Power but her Homing Missiles are good and have replaced the usefulness of her Power Missiles.
All in all she’s just “Meh” and fits the same mold of depressing averageness; if her Charge Shot could actually kill at reasonable levels she’d be much higher in Brawl.
Yeah…Samu’s nerf was warranted and so was CF’s.
