I think Morrigan fits on any position in a team, but she’s also a character you need to construct a team around.
Yeah, It’s pretty much a matter of preference. Just remember that if you put her on point, use shadow blade assist for shadow servant OTG in a THC.

This is no one BEST way to play morrigan at the moment because shes so versatile. Some people play her on point and supplement her with really good assists because she can lame it out hard at the beginning of the match, and than switch it up to major rushdown. Some like to put her in the back and use her to gain tons of meter that she can use on her own as an anchor.
It all depends on what you want to do with her and what other characters youre putting on the team.
I’m sure everybody already knows this (and it’s not that useful anyway), but holding the dash button on any of Morrigan’s dashes makes them go longer. This includes the ground one.
I don’t think that’s new to Ultimate, though.
Something a little cooler is that during flight you can dash in multiple directions, (back to forward, up to down, etc) which she cant do without flight mode.
Has anyone noticed how abnormally high Morrigan jumps after jump cancelling 6H? This is making me freak out.

Just a good piece of tech in case it hasn’t been posted yet, but if you have Morri paired with an OTG, there’s a way to make it much easier to link an OTG from the hard knockdown on an air series. If you’re planning to continue the combo with an OTG after your air series, instead of doing j.m, j.m, j.h, shadow blade into your j.s, end it with air soul fist, flight cancel that, and then dash downwards and connect J.s. Gives you a lot more time to connect the OTG. Also, if you do the same thing but instead throw out a J.H or her other two normals, then she’ll fly out of the combo and end up right above the ground in flight mode where she can overhead. Don’t actually know if that’s useful though, because I imagine that people would just knock you out of the air or tech out of it.
since when did they removed her dp x super (missiles), dp x super, dp x super combo?? i tried to do it yesterday but she cant dp after super anymore… did they change that since the latest dlc or was she never able to do it in umv3?
They removed it when UMVC3 came out. She can only get up to two loops on the ground now. You can re - land though and do it again if you want.
Is Shadow Blade (any version) invincible at all? I always assumed it was, what with it being a dp move, but I’ve noticed it trades with other attacks a lot. I chalked it up to bad timing on my part, but it got me wondering whether it actually does have any invincibility.
Zero invincibility sadly.
Haggar assist is the only invincible assist in the game now (and it’s been nerfed so it’s only invincible for 2 active frames now). Capcom wants average guy to run and press buttons at your team all day long. There’s high priority assists or some assists with one point of super armor but no true “GTFO cuz im invincible right now” assists anymore.
bah, that sucks. I guess a reversal that could lead to a free combo would be too much to hope for…

I meant the attack, not the assist. Although it’s invincible as a crossover counter or whatever it’s called, right?
yeah the crossover counter, as it’s called in the guidebook, for morrigan’s uppercut assist-type is invincible for 4 frames.
i use morrigan trish and dormammu.one thing about morrigan is what she should have at all coast is her freedom…i fly alot use sulfist alot and even trish has a hard time getting at morrigan or trapping her and trishis top tier when it comes to keep away im a 3rd lord with this team morrigan is the most unpredictable & overwhelming characters in the game she has a banging ass offense…using her flight cancel soul fist to get is the way to go with her…and dont b reckless with her…
morrigan is still that same succubus but its not a bad thing tho…i wish they would of give her more tools like counter shell kick hyper from darkstalkers or a 3xhit shell kick special that can otg and choose to hit mid high low when ever insted of flying or jumping…ive became a 3rd lord cus of her so im not gonaa let her go not ever
Just wanted to say, it’s been a good week for Morrigan! The highly delightful exhibition combos from boxing day and Chris G making effective use of the soul fist/hidden missiles in the stream.
The changes that Capcom did to Morrigan were worthwhile. More priority on J.H. shell kick, more hit stun and damage for soul fist, soul drain, faster flight and the air dash nerf for other characters makes her keepaway better.
I would like Morrigan to get a real ground dash, though.
This happened to me in a match recently. Had a Soul Fist floating in the air after KOing Frank West, and it traveled down and hit him while he was on the ground. After testing it out with Strider’s Varja assist to test out the hard knockdown state, I’m thinking that this only occurs when the opponent is already KO’d. Freaked me out a bit though!
