Wait wait wait, who gives a fuck about them? Casual gamers liked SF2 somewhat only because it was a fairly level playing field where you could mash buttons and have a good time with your friends. Fighters have changed since then, they laugh at it because they don’t get it, they don’t understand so they give up saying “supers are cheap” or another variant. Why are you even talking about casual gamers, those are the type of people who care about graphics, who care about the story and whatnot, SF is a joke to them, well they are a joke to me, they play games as an amusement with friends, nothing wrong with that but they have no place talking about a game not intended for them.
Then you say Its because people support Marvel and CvS2 instead of SF3, well dog, SF3 sucked ass. It took them 3 tries to finally get a game that was coherently playable, but by then everyone gave up anyways. Marvel was an infinitely better game than NG was, fuck you could make a case for MvC2 being better than 3s anyways. Capcom has for the most part given up, ANY new fighters to me is a good thing, and I personally think anyone who has the audacity to complain about the graphics and /or cry rehash should get the fuck off this site, because they have no place here. Yes I am looking square at you.
i’m sure we’re all casual when compared to some people, and hardcore when compared to others, so i don’t see the generalizations helping. The idea is that we need more of EVERY type of player.
I do think it’s valid to say that the graphics are a problem, I do think that graphics are an important part of fighting games aside from gameplay. I do not think it’s valid to say that because CFJ’s graphics are bad, that somehow NOW it’s the end of the world. Somehow when they were making no games there was so much hope, now that there is a game out AND possibly samvscap and whatever else coming, there is no hope all of a sudden, doesn’t make sense to me.
It’s funny, it doesn’t really matter if this is actually a solid game or not, its an old game we have already played before. This game is an interesting dilema. If you buy it, your saying 2D fighters can still be profitable, increasing the chance that they will make more of them. If however you do buy it, you’re also telling them that rehashing old games we have already played for little development cost is ok and will still sell, affectively turning Capcom into another SNK(Like they aren’t already). Either CFJ is a real effort to give players something to work with until an actual new game comes out, or this is simply another test to see if people will buy low cost crap.
I agree actually. I’d much rather they stop making fighting games then to force themselves to make games like CFJ/E, but I’ll play CFJ/E regardless because it is something new (and because of Felicia). Contradictory and hypocritical? Yes, I know, but hell I’m human, I’ve got nothing to hide.
Now the question is why they decided to start selling us crap in the first place. Was it because of the public’s dislike of SFIII, or was it apparent beforehand? Perhaps their diving into other genres (ie: survival horror) lead to less time / work / worth being devoted into their next working fighting game title?
Or both. Maybe we’ve already given them the answer to their test.
thing is i think it’s gonna be “i liked svc” forever coz no matter where i look i cant find the option to change that text, ive got to thinking some higher power has locked that option out as some kind of joke…??
A long time ago, in a thread far, far away, I had second thoughts on CFJ, and decided that it was lacking. Basically, I didn’t think the game offered anything new, except matchups. The excitement of matchups will last… hm… maybe a week. After that, there’s no gameplay elements to explore. I’ve seen it all before. I have a library of fighting games I can go play that I can get the same, if not better, experience than CFJ.
It seems inkblot agrees. It also seems some people don’t know who he is :wtf:
The only feature they implemented that could ever possibly be put to much use is the team system. When I watched the videos, it was hard to tell when a player would switch characters. However, it’s a very minor feature that just about nobody is going to take to a very esoteric level because the rest of the game fails to be interesting enough to entertain most players.
i dont get it when people say “well thats what you get for supporting blah blah blah”. support? whatever comes out, there will be people that play it just because its fresh and might be tired with other stuff. i hope those people realize that the game comes out first, and then we react, not the other way around. whats the definitely of not showing support anyways, is srk supposed to collectively organize a protest of a coin-fast so we will be heard? american arcade fight game are just an after thought to begin with.
This game is very poor, probably one of Capcom’s worst fighters ever released. I wouldn’t even compare this game to CVS1, instead I would compare it to a horrible Neo-Geo game called Kizuna Encounter. If you like this game, its probably because its “new” and if it wasn’t you probably wouldn’t even want to waste fifty cents on it. Sometimes I think CFJ was made with Mugen… insert sprite here
SO here’s the 20 billion dollar question: Is this a truly bad game, a very sloppy game, or just too much “same old, same old”? I mean, I can understand the graphics argument or the rehashed gameplay arguments, but the game does not seem to be devoid of depth, nor is it very broken. That’s 2 points for it right there. However, the question is, is it interesting enough for us to add to the tournament circuit?
I think (to me at least) the most interesting part of CFJ is the fact that is practically one big study of fighting systems. It is a great way to look at the various gameplay systems created over the years and compare how they mesh and how balenced they are in comparison. If nothing else, it’s a great study tool for those interested in the nitty-gritty of fighting systems.
I would also like to remind everyone that, if my memory serves me right (and it may not, it’s been a long time), Inkblot was originally opposed to adding 3S to Apex and the B/Evo tournament series. Just because he dislikes it doesn’t mean it’s crap
