Cell phone thread. (Questions, reviews, issues with carriers, etc)

Here a list of phones for T-mobile
https://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Default.aspx?pgrShowAll=true

Im using a razr v3t and it came with a micro sd card so i can put songs on that then from the card i can transfer song onto my phone and set it as ringtones.

Who has the best service and plans hands down? I haven’t owned a cell phone in like 3 years and I’ve been living overseas. So I am seriously out of the loop. I’ll be moving back to the states for a while in april. When I did live in the states, I had a samasung vga 1000 with sprint. I payed $55 a month. With that I got 300 daytime minutes, free nights and weekends and internet. Has a lot changed since then?

hey i’m not limited to T-mobile phones. I can use my SIM card on any unlocked phone correct?

Yeah so I just got a Samsung SGH-C417 with my new cingular plan, been happy with cingular for years. The problem is that the phone says it has bluetooth but it only bluetooths to handsfree and headsets, but not my computer or other phones…

any way I can fix this?

I’m thinking about purchasing a new phone. It’s triband GSM 900/1800/1900. I’m gonna buy it unlocked. What i’m trying to figure out is, Cingular uses GSM 850/900/1800/1900…will I still be able to use this phone with Cingular if it doesn’t do 850?

This shit’s complicated.

Tied: verizon and cingular.

yes you can, you just won’t get the best of services from cingular with a phone without 850.

by best of services, what do you mean exactly? like i’d lose service out in the country or somethin like that maybe?

would I be able to send text messages, use the web browser, and stuff like that still?

no? possibly? yes?

What model is it? I’d honestly stay away from it. The majority of Cingular’s services are done thru the 850 band. You’d probably get shitty reception and that’s it. No email, etc.

Well if you could dish out an extra 50-100$ you could get the Razr V6 Maxx( you might be able to find one for 200$). That’s the phone I have right now and it works great. You can download full mp3’s to your phone and set them as your ring tones with no trouble at all. It uses a SIM card and has good battery life. I use it at work to listen to music and it doesnt run out of battery at the end of the day.

I wanted the Sony Ericsson K800i (the one from Casino Royale). But if I can’t use all the features, it’s no use. Thanks for the help.

Anyone else use Mobile17.com to make their own ringtones?

I have a Sprint Katana and the ringtones arent very loud when they come out(the ones I make through the site), not even at max volume. Is this just my phone or is anyone else encountering the same type thing?

Stupid question time…I’m still kind of new to whole cell.phone thing…as the piece of shit I have now is the first and only real cellular I’ve had. It froze a few days ago, like how a computer freezes up…all because I went to open a picture that was already in the gallery. I started working again when I took the battery part out and put it back in, then charged it(though it was already charged)…ever since, there has been NO bars next to the antenna symbol. So, I can’t receive or make calls from this worthless piece of shit. Is something up with the service(T-Mobile, which I’ve never had a problem with before), or the phone itself?

I was actually going to just buy a new one yesterday, but surprise surprise…that bitch just happens to get all the bars next to the antenna symbol while I was walking up to the store(Walmart…I decided to then go check Best Buy as I’m sure they’d have a better selection, and people who would know something about various devices, unlike WMart. One look at the average cashier at WMart, and you instantly realize you’re wasting your time there.)

Of course…of fucking course…once I was back at the apartment, there’s no bars next to the antenna symbol again. So apparently, I can make a call if the phone FEELS THREATENED that I’m going to replace it’s sorry sissy ass. It’s taking so much self control to avoid smashing that piece of garbage into nothing at this point.

and of course…of fucking course…now it DISAPPEARS when I try to find it to look up a serial number or something online. I will end that foolish little cunt.

While I was out in Los Angeles last week, I found a Motorola E680i, and I was thinking of finding the original owner, but at the same time I was toying with the idea of activiating it for myself to keep. Thing is, whenever I turn it on, it asks for a SIM password, so there’s no other way around that unless I take out the sim card, so can I go to a place where they will activate it, or will they take it away since it’s not originally mine? And if by chance they can activate it, is it worth it, or should I just buy a brand new phone? I ask because I never owned a cell phone before in my life and I dont’ know any better.

Anybody on Sprint got a Mogul yet? I’m planning on picking it up in a couple of weeks. Man, between the phone and this I’m gonna go through a lot of miniSD cards.

I’m waiting on the Jasper Morrison Samsung phone, but i’ve got no info on when it’s coming state side…

I’m waiting on the Mogul myself. EVDO speeds FTW!

This would be a really good replacement for my Samsung A900-MM phone for my business line.:lovin: Speed for e-mail is going to be really fast and downloading attachments would be a breeze. slaps AT&T in da face :arazz:

I do have AT&T service too but that’s used for my DOE job. :lovin:

Waiting? It’s out now, if you didn’t know, though it’s only available online at the moment.

I’m waiting till it’s available through a store. Since it’s a business line, it’s best to not deal with contracts and just purchase the phone cold with no contract. I could however call in and find out how much it will cost for me but more then likely I won’t get any sort of discount.
