Wonder who Strange would face off against if and when he gets a movie. Would they go all out and go straight for the dread Dormammu or build that one up?
Rumour mill has 3rd GotG movie to be facing off versus Shuma Gorath, so I kinda assumed first Doctor Strange would be Baron Mordo, second would be Dormammu. Third, probably Shuma or Zom.
(And as expected, that veered us right the fuck off topic, but this is still better than the other distractions, so…)
Yeah, considering Marvel already signed up Sebastian Stan for 9 movies and so far he’s only appeared in 2, they obviously have at least things vaguely planned out for…a while into the future (provided someone [vital] doesn’t go the way of Paul Walker). I’m not sure how these “phases” work, but there’s at least a Phase 4 already and apparently the Doctor Strange movie is a Phase 3, so it will probably be out in 2016 or something since Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers 2: Age of Ultron are the last Phase 2 movies I think.
Johnny Depp, really? I mean, yeah, I guess I can see how why they would go there, especially based on name recognition and how closely he’s affiliated with Disney, which is Marvel is now a part of, but…yeah.
Personally, and this might just be MightyGodKing’s blog talking, I thought they would try to go after someone more British even if Strange isn’t, like Hugh Laurie as mentioned or Benedict Cumberbatch, who proved he can do an American accent pretty well (if a Southern one) in 12 Years a Slave.
Maybe they’ll change their minds if Transcendence bombs or something. Shrug.
Johnny Depp wouldn’t be completely horrible or even all the bad anything, especially on visual level, I guess. It’s just there are probably better options.
Doctor Strange pre-Sorcerer Supreme powers was a bit of a dick though. Less so than Doom, obviously, otherwise Doom would have ended up Sorcerer Supreme, which is rather hilarious to imagine.
Strange doesn’t have to have magic it’s not important to his character…this isn’t the comic guys obviously he will just be a street magic punk which is just as good cause being a magician isn’t even important to his overall character arc.
(Ignoring the poor attempt at trolling about possibly non-mutant Pietro & Wanda, Strange’s magic actually doesn’t really matter all that much if you think about it.)
I mean, given Marvel pretty much never bothered to flesh out any concrete system of magic for their comics, it’s less “Strange can do magic” and more “Strange is deus ex machina when not being forced into being an idiot.” There’s literally almost nothing he can’t do with the current way he’s written (or, at least, was written 7 years before I stopped caring about comics) that couldn’t be just pinned on “it’s magic!”, which is part of the reason I thought we’d never see a Doctor Strange movie at all.
According to you guys QS and Wanda don’t need to be magnetos kids or mutants sooooo…make strange a con man who does card tricks and it’s all good right mate?
You’d have a point if we where saying Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch didn’t need their powers, which we aren’t. Try to at least hit the dart board next time.
I’m just calling out the logic in this thread. If you guys can tell me with a straight face that not being mutants or magnetos kids aren’t important to the twins then I could just as easily say having magic powers isn’t a big deal to strange.
Hell thanos could just be a comedy actor hired to be villain as his new origin story and it would be perfectly fine to you.
