Dude came from World War 2. You really think he cares about killing? He won’t go out of his way to do it, but he won’t think twice about it when it becomes necessary. It’s not really a notion he struggles with as he has plenty of common sense to KNOW when killing is necessary.
(…I didn’t say he was against killing, I said that he doesn’t kill just because he can.)
Considering how easily movie Captain America could kill people even without a gun, it’s just notable how few people, if any, he did (or rather didn’t) kill in this movie. Like I said above (though, understandably I just vomited a lot of text at jimmi), I’m also well aware that he apparently shot a bunch of people in the two other movies he was in. That’s understandable when you’re in war and a soldier, especially when you don’t have the luxury of the element of surprise.
I’m not disagreeing with any of this. Stop being illiterate. I was just pointing out that, in this movie, Captain America goes out of his way to not kill people even though he very well could and even though he doesn’t have a problem with killing when necessary. I already noted he was completely fine with Rumlow shooting that guy for him on the ship, just like he was fine with Black Widow & the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. gunning down half of the pirates or Sam shooting one of the gunners. Doesn’t mean Cap went out of his way to snap Batroc or anyone’s else neck like a twig to prove what a 90s badass he is even though he very easily could to make sure they stayed down. After all, Batroc couldn’t continue to be a threat to the hostages if he was dead, even with the possible intel he might have had, which was less important than saving the hostages, which is what Cap was actually focused on.
I’m completely fine with a hero that kills…within reason. I just more like a hero who doesn’t kill just because he can if he doesn’t have to and a hero that’s actually about saving or helping people, which is why I brought up Man of Steel, where Superman doesn’t bother to save anyone who he doesn’t personally care about until the very end. Killing people who shoot at or otherwise try to kill you is fine and understandable, especially if there’s no way around it, but if there are other viable options, then I’m also not going to deride the supposed hero for taking them if they want to and trying to prevent more death.
I’m hardly someone who would say characters need a stringent Batman code of “no killing, ever!” considering how inane I find it. Even if a character would prefer not to kill anyone ever, it’s very likely that there will be at least a few circumstances where it’s ultimately beneficial to kill a person to save other people. For instance, I’m of the belief that Batman should have killed The Joker ages ago; he would literally have saved like hundreds, if not thousands of lives.
Also, Terminator 2 is a pretty bad example if you’re about talking heroes who kill. Just saying.
(And, ironically, now we’re actually more off-topic than the post you flagged as off-topic. Thanks.)
lmao thanks bringing up Batman, I still laugh when I think about that roof top scene when him and catwoman get ambushed. NO GUNS!, Dude has bullet proof body suit on, Catwoman is just wearing leather, didn’t matter though Bane’s men proved they’re as good a marksmen as a drunken stormtrooper
Re the Superman thing, think everyone just chalked that up to Snyder and the terrible script that was completely focused on action than logic. We’ve seen him in the other movies and comics care very much about the welfare of human population.
went back and read some of the stupidity…some of u really arguing that Hulk couldn’t deal with a hellicarrier? Oh it would just fly high. Lol, genius. You seem to forget about Banner, or the fact the Hulk can throw fucking mountains.
Yeh I remember those discussions in GD when the movie dropped. But stuff like that could have been allowed to slide if it weren’t for the fact everything completely lacked in logic.
