Did Vega (Claw) ever end up being any good in CvS2? I don’t remember him being low-tier, but by the time I gave up on the game he wasn’t particularly high either.
I think some people played him as battery on A teams. I haven’t followed CvS2 tiers for a couple years though, so I’m not sure.
Boy you need to see Rick Ortiz Claw. He can turtle his ass off. REALLY simple as well. It’s the most braindead claw ever. He has really good pokes and really good range. And he has a really easy custom combo as well. Oh and RC rolling claw are a pain in the ass to deal with. Let’s not forget a RC flip kick which is a godlike anti air. He doesn’t have killing power, but he’s really good at turtling, stalling, and generally building meter. He’s incredibly hard to hit and it’s hard to keep any reasonable pressure on him. He’s definitely in the top tier if not close to the top. He’s a staple on a lot of A-Groove teams, and his C and K groove versions aren’t so bad either.
yeah render,
I guess I should have posted this thread on mygamer or another forum for total morons.
I wouldn’t say top tier, but definitely somewhere at the top of the mid tier list.
You have to stop calling people morons, especially when you are the fucking moron who was wrong in the first place. CVS2 uses ALPHA sprites for a majority of the Capcom characters, the same sprites that you love in A3/MVC that help you “play better.” Whatever the fuck that means. You’re wrong and you fail, please leave.
Go back and read what I wrote… again.
…Alpha sprites on the “majority” of the characters…
As I said before, the new sprites don’t mesh well with the Alpha sprites and take some getting used to. My gripe is that it was redundant and unpolished to update select Capcom sprites while recycling the rest of the roster when they gave a total face lift to all the SNK characters.
but you’re clearly butthurt I don’t think CvS2 is the “greatest fighting game ever”
with a doubt, of course.
reading comprehension…
First off, I could care less how you or anybody feels about CVS2. CVS2 is hated by most, but I don’t give a shit and that doesn’t change my feelings toward it.
Second, your post implies that you did not know that they were using the Alpha sprites, not that they didn’t mesh or that they took some time to getting used to. You didn’t include that at all.
You are right about one thing, it’s stupid to only update a select few of the Capcom characters, and not all. But they HAD to make new sprites for the SNK characters because they didn’t have any, they only obtained permission to use the characters, SNK didn’t give them anything else.
But that wasn’t your “Gripe”, not only did you feel that they looked different, but the game play also felt “Off”. Again, which is stupid bullshit.
It’s “Without a doubt.” And I can read perfectly fine, it’s you who can’t think for shit or type the stupid bullshit that spews out of that thing you call a brain. I think you should, “step away from FG’s.”
A Groove Vega, was Upper Mid-ish.
Fucking dangerous in the right hands
I call it like I see it.
Good call, you caught my one error, while everybody has been correcting every single one you’ve made since you started this thread. From grammar to just plain stupidity and logic, it’s a tough job trying to tell an idiot when he’s wrong, especially because he’s an idiot. I would tell you to think before you write anything else, but I know something would explode, and SRK would have no more laughs.
A-Blanka says hello too
I know this thread’s supposed to be about cvs1, but I’m just curious why you think this?
I’m an A-groove player, and A-sak was what made my friends stop playing K/P for awhile and they would counter me with C. The counter attacks just make A-sak turn into N-sak without N’s mobility options and lvl 3 super.
I thought it was general consensus now that C and N were the best grooves? A has just gotten really really gimmicky (but still fun to play).
Vega is often considered the top of the upper mid tier, fyi. IE, solid as hell.
uhhhh what? I think you got misinformed somewhere.
A-Sak/Blanka/2-Bison is clearly insane. Counter attack doesn’t help you when you’re being pummeled by shosho and paint the fence. Just stop busting your A on block.
And I don’t think N has ever been top, at least not since Tokido won Evo (which was in 2002).
shoshosho and paint the fence are flashy combos, but really, it just does the same damage as a k-groove lvl 3 super or blanka c-groove counter hit lvl 3.
I guess the guys I play with just don’t fear a-groove anymore
invincible start up with 2 buttons makes it dangerous, including activation in the air
jump in -> SRKKKKK -> activate -> your fence is painted
2 button blow through activation > Lvl 3 super that requires charge time.
Also, you can sit on a full A meter. Can’t do that with K.
A groove is the best groove, but it’s not the definitive groove. N and A groove gives A groove it’s share of issues. There are a lot of cool N groove tricks like activate xx L3 super. It’s an amazingly cool frame trap that can stop predictable A groove activations. C groove is a great turtle grove, which can be issues for A groove as well. Saving your meter and alpha counter on blocked CCs. It can force an A groover to waste their meter.
K groove and P groove obviously have a share of issues with A groove, it somewhat hard counter those grooves. And not to say A isn’t better than C and N, but C and N do have subsystems to give A groove a few issues.
The only totally useless groove is S groove, totally gimmicky at best. But S groove is really fun though.
lol edmonton guys ganging up ok good shit lol. Good to see you guys still like this game.
I agree A has nice stuff like the 2-button activation & invicible start up, but C takes away sak’s guard break combo. Okay so you say I shouldn’t blow my A on block. Well then look at using a-groove meter vs. c-groove meter. Invicible start up with both grooves - and damage is about the same, but a-groove you gotta work harder (execution-wise) to get the same damage. And if you fuck up, then you eat it and your meter gets cut in half or you’re left waiting for your meter to run out so you can block again.
C just has better uses for meter over A and also fucking air block so it’s harder for bison to land j.mp x 2.
Casiotech, I think CvS1 is a fantastic game and I totally agree with you about the graphic presentation, etc. I recommend playing the Pro version on Dreamcast for the best experience. Although I do like CvS2 gameplay a little better, the graphics, music, level intros are much much cooler in the first version. Even if these games aren’t in tournaments, played seriously, etc. I wouldn’t let it discourage you. Games are often times played for enjoyment, and more often than not it’s all that matters. CvS1 is often my go to game that I pull out when people come over that want to play a 2D fighter but aren’t that serious about them.
ulovemikeroch, you are one of the most mean-spirited people I’ve ever encountered on this board, you’re here to harass and put down and make people feel dumb. Seriously dude, I’m sure everyone in this particular thread would prefer that you step off and take your negativity elsewhere. You do not impress me.
