Dude…no offense, but you make it sound like I give a shit what the pros do. I just want to play the games, and get good at them. When I buy a game, it is for my consumption, with or without friends. Once in a while we’ll play old games together (been a while now…)…but I have no intention of traveling across 20 fuckin’ states to get to a tourney, miss work, and lose to people who do nothing BUT play games. I may use tricks and combos pros use, but that isn’t in the hope of one day meeting and beating them. I don’t suck by any means, but I don’t eat, sleep, breathe games either. I don’t care if a character is banned in a tourney just because they’re console-only, unless they have some seriously abusable shit that isn’t fair or counterable (like a character that gains meter 5 times faster than everyone else, or has move properties from their game of origin that make them broken in the game they’ve been cut/pasted into). Tourneys ain’t my cuppa. I get good at games to handle local/online comp/friends I may come across, not to star in a remake of The Wizard. I’m pretty sure there are people with this same attitude who could beat the big 2-3 (not saying I can, mind you), but like me, they just want to play and enjoy the game with friends/online, and don’t care about tourneys, or have the cash to travel.
imo yamzaki and rugal moved up a lot with the help of rc’s. Yama’s slashes and rugal’s hcb grab as anti air into a C groove 2 into 1 super. I’m not disagreeing with you at all, I just think rugal and yama are part of the club that rc helped a lot.
Didn’t Ken move up as well thanks to RC Funky Kick?
A-Sakura and A-Bison say hi.
Unless they worked on multiple characters at the same time?
:shake:
Don’t get me wrong, the top tier will still be top tier regardless of RCs. But WITH RCs, the tiers get a minor compression and more characters are tournament viable.
i think it’s a pile of doo doo.
Well they are bad, but keep in mind they wouldn’t have anything if it weren’t for A groove. Okay Sakura is alright in C groove, but definitely not as threatening. Still just because A groove makes 2 character more useful doesn’t mean it’s overpowering. I don’t know if you were around when everyone was raving about A groove Chun-Li.
To me a subsystem is overpowered when it becomes the defacto choice for competitive play. This isn’t a Groove. There are a shitload of C groove, N groove, P groove and K groove teams that are just a tournament worthy as the whorish Sakrua/Bison/Blanka team. Any the only thing that makes Bison so threatening is because he can activate off of a BnB into a paint the fence for big damage. Blanka can use a counter RC electricity and activate as well. But all of that stuff is character specific bullshit just enhanced by A groove. There are tons of top tiers like Cammy and Sagat who aren’t great at all in A groove or have really good CCs. And it certainly doesn’t bring people like Benimaru, Mai, Haohmaru and others to top tier status.
Compare this to Alpha 3 where V-ism is a way of life there. If your character doesn’t have anything useful in V-ism, he better have some crouch cancel/walk cancel 80% combo. Else your character is useless. V-ism defines and redefines Alpha 3. The system changes the entire game. It’s so overpowering and broken, the entire game revolves around it.
I can’t say the same about CVS2.
Capcom vs Snk is a great game. Team akuma, Geese, Terry.
Well, you are right in that A-Groove in no way was even close to the dominance of V-ISM in A3. That I can’t and won’t argue.
I just felt that A-Groove came with some bogus BS too which rears its ugly head at high levels of play. Not as dominating as V-ISM, but nothing you can just ignore either.
I’ll stick with C groove all the time.
Ahahahahaha look at this faggot, he claims no one gives a shit about what I have to say, yet his own thread has been derailed and his posts are worthless and full of shit.
RC’s do help lower tier characters compete with the higher tiers, but yeah they also help the higher tiers. But it’s much more advantageous to the lower tiers than the higher ones in the long run. Despite the weaker SNK characters and the lower tiered Capcom characters, you can get around that without RC by jhjust using K-groove. K does allow a lot of characters potential to be better. People are talking about in the CVS2 section about Mai, because K groove helps her out so much.
As nice as roll canceling or K Grooving may sound, this doesn’t change the fact that Vega, Sagat and Blanka are going to sodomize you repeatedly and painfully.
Do you *realize *you already responded to that same post on the last page?
Do you really need to reply twice to the same post because your last retort was pathetic (as to be expected) and you think you can do better, or are you just that *retarded *you don’t remember half the shit that spews out of your mouth… I’ll bet it’s the latter.
Step away from the FGs, try to salvage what little brain cells you have left.
I know I responded, I was just proving my point that you’re a moron, and that people have been ignoring your stupid ass posts, not mine. Because your posts are stupid and full of trash, like saying that a game doesn’t feel like a street fighter game despite having the mechanics have of one. I mean the fact that your thread has been derailed alone is enough to proof that no one gives a flying fuck about what you have to say.
It’s ironic that you’re telling me to step away from fighting games, when clearly you can’t tell you’re playing one just by the way it looks or handles. Of course, none of your “comebacks” have been actual comebacks or arguments, but lame attempts at my intelligence or by claiming that no one gives a fuck about what I have to say. Despite the fact that your first post alone makes you an idiot, and that people have actually been reading my posts to share ideas and arguments on the mechanics of a game. Not to spew insults or tell me that the game actually uses Alpha sprites despite your claims that it doesn’t. But I digress, since the topic of this thread has been changed anyway to something that’s actually relevant and not stupid.
Again, yes those three are high up there. But you might not be seeing the potential or strength that K-Groove/RC has on others. Chun, Mai, Rolento, Rock, the shotos, Honda, these characters were midtier at best, but RC/K helps them compete with the best. Of course mid tier isn’t that bad, but there is a big difference in this game between the highs and the mids.
A-groove isn’t that broken in cvs2. C- groove owns A cuz of counter attacks.
Now in cvs1, SNK groove owned because of the art during the character select screen hehe.
Did Sagat in GC CvS2 EO lose the ability to Super Cancel from Far S.Fierce and C.Fierce? I know on the XBox version he could, but can’t do 10000+ damage with it after Jump In Roundhouse on K-Groove.
no, just no.
He’s right for the wrong reasons.
A groove isn’t that bad, especially now that the rest of the grooves are/have caught up, there are lots of C/N groove players who can now compete well with A groove, despite the game being old as fuck now.
I wish Vega in SF4 was half as good as the one in CVS2.
I just want to say to you that I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I thought to myself “no, maybe this guy isn’t an idiot, and I will take him seriously, despite his 2009 join date.” I proceeded to offer up a serious post that led to the discussion that has run five pages too long.
You are dumb, and I regret having done so.
