Branh you’re equally as bad as they are, in case you haven’t noticed.
kind of a dead thread, game is finished, guile got limited buffs, they are not changing it
guile still sucks groups of men of fin public toilets for the charge to do one sonic boom
/thread
I like deejay. Not enough to main him, but I like him plenty. But guile is, in fact not deejay. And unless capcom get’s incredibly lazy and decides to make guile an alternate outfit for Deejay, he never will be.
All this “guile is terrible, deejay is better so I’m switching mains” stuff is kind of bad when it’s a wishlist thread for guile. Just seems like the wrong place for the discussion.
I have nothing against guile getting better mixup or whatever, but some people are going on and on about deejay, like he makes guile irrelavent. This thread is the LAST place where guile should be irrelavent.
What the fuck is with these “haves” and “wants?” Until this new game comes out you don’t “have” anything but “wants” for either character.
So you know all of the properties Deejay has in SSF4? His Bnbs? Hey man, how good are his upkicks in this game? do they have full invulnerable startup in this game, or only partial? Can you still juggle from them? Does he do godlike damage? How good is his crossup? typical mk, or better? Hasn’t changed since the vegas build, right?
Less douchebaggy way of saying it: You can’t possibly know how much better DJ’s options are compared to guiles in SSF4, or ANYONE for that matter. The game can come out april, and we all find out that the final cut of deejay is ASS. worse normals than dan, shitty grab range, slide could be terrible, upkicks could be WORSE than flashkick in every way, crossup not as good as advertised, etc. We. Don’t. Know.
Anybody who thinks Guile and Dee Jay aren’t similar is kidding themselves…
I’m thinking of picking up Dee Jay over Guile 'cause I think DJ will be able to move better horizontally (sobat, slide which keeps charge >> BK), probably has better damage output (really getting tired of cr mp x flashkick being my punish) and who doesn’t want a crossup with more range and hitstun (eh?).
DJ likely won’t be able to zone as well as Guile, but I’d give up that lame shit for some offense that will actually scare somebody outside of corners. The only thing I’m going to miss is the backbreaker (real talk). I do think we need to stop talking about Dee Jay though. I know there ain’t shit to talk about, but c’mon…
Except it’s not coming out for two months, and the last build we saw they specifically said they hadn’t really gotten around to messing with the balance of the existing characters, that this was something they’d be doing Feb/March/April. So who the fuck knows what Guile is going to end up looking like.
Got me? How did you get me? I’ve been tinkering with Dee Jay’s normals for the past 2 weeks and he has the same anti air options as Guile. All Guile has is an air throw which can be simply beat by an early kick. Dee Jay can cover the ground game better than Guile in Super just watch. Also I did formulate an independent opinion it’s called I’m switching to Dee Jay if Guile doesn’t have the chops and I said it way before Jason said Dee Jay is and always was better than Guile btw. It’s hilarious how you just brush off comments made by people who know way more than yourself in regards to Jason, I did the same when I moved here, too bad I came to find out I was fucking wrong the whole time. I mean the dude beats me with every single character in the game, all the time, he knows his shit dude, you just think you do. That’s the difference.
That’s true as well I’m giving up some defensive options for better offensive ones. It’s like you get people in corners as Guile and they just sit there, you can’t do much besides his lame ass overhead, oh no watch out! Lol. I will miss air throws as well too it was seriously killer and I loved winning matches with it. Maybe Guile will end up excelling perfectly in that if you need a defensive character for a matchup you’lll be able to pick Guile, if you need some mix up and offensive options you can go with Dee Jay. It would be really great if they played off each other in that manner for SSF4 me thinks.
We should start comparing Sagat and Guile as well, while we’re at it. I mean, both are zoning characters that rely on the opponents mistakes for big punishes…Sagat is just better at it.
If you want to play DeeJay, by all means. Guile is not a religion, it’s a bloody game character. I see no harm in getting bored/disappointed, etc and changing characters to either win more or play a different style of game. Just don’t try to justify it by making silly comparisons between characters. You’re allowed to explore.
If they gave Guile all that’s good about DeeJay and all that’s good about Charlie, he wouldn’t be Guile. He’d be Sagat.
If you’re not man enough to fight with him, then go home and pick someone else.
The thing I wanna know is why does Guile have normal health 1000 and below normal stun (900?)
I think slightly faster dashes along with slightly touched up pokes, and of course, buff that flash kick would be nice. He only has two moves, buff his airthrow to 175.
One thing I don’t get is the differences of recovery for his Sonic Booms.
I think it’s made that way to balance his zone game. You know, kinda like a “bonus” for your opponent for being able to make it into your space. Guile’s weakness is getting people off of him, so this plays off of it.
I really don’t have a problem with it.
Strengthening Guile… Let’s give him 10,000 health, and unblockable attacks.
But then Dee Jay would have 12,000 health, even more unblockable attacks, plus his Instant Win Ultra!
:looney:
Much of what we traditionally knew about Guile turned out to be quite different once we actually played SF4. So why are people assuming that they know exactly what Dee Jay’s strengths and weaknesses will be before anyone has have even played SSF4 seriously? With all due respect to OG legends etc. SSF4 is a new game. The shell of Dee Jay will be familiar, but it will take time to learn what he’s really capable of.
Family man forever!
Just wanted to say that if they make DJ like his ST self, then they will probably give him his god normals, cr.mp, and cr.hp. Which does make his defense formidible.
That’s all I have to say offtopic.
Guile for Top Three!
I think guile has always had below average stun come to think of it. And yea, there’s not much point in speculating as though it’s fact…imagine how bad someone might have thought that Guile would stomp in this game after looking at defensive play…
Maybe the developers did that last time and that’s why he got so many nerfs
Guile’s designed as a zoning/lockout character. If you get rushed down and stunned, it’s because you aren’t using Guile properly or your opponent really earned it.
And yeah. Pretty much spot on with everything else in your post.
People need to take this Dee Jay shit to the Dee Jay thread. Seriously. Stop bitching and saying “Ima gun play me sum dejay derp cuz guile sux” in here. I see how it’s relevant, but that doesn’t make it on-topic.
Capcom sure is keeping a lid on a lot of the returning characters.
I wonder why they cant do these blogs on some of the returning characters.
I’m surprised Fuerte wasn’t treated the same way… then again, his crap health comes to mind.
I think his Ultra 1 will no longer be used… unless it gets a SIGNIFICANT attack boost.
You know what I hope they would do but I KNOW they won’t do?
Make his super a Sonic Hurricane too. Or give him both.
Canceling into Sonic Hurricane would be nice and bring back the CVS2 feeling.
