Capcom, The way to Strenghten Guile is

That’s a relief that they seem to know enough about the character to see that his normals needs to be tweaked and footsies need to be buffed, i was fearing they would toss some more damage at him and call it a day.

I feel sorry for vega’s though, like his claw falling off seriously had anything to do with why he’s that bad

Yeah, no kidding. I think I remember watching a match where he gets WRECKED by an Akuma though.

Also, back to the whole “air throw onto SB idea,” how fucking cool would it be if you could juggle EX SB right after they get thrown onto the regular SB? Hell yes.

If the Sonic Hurricane is a moving projectile like people were saying it was, it’d be rad to be able to air throw people into that too.

That would be awesome. If they did make it a moving projectile similar to how Sim’s is now, then Knock Down>Sonic Hurricane on wake up> walk up Target Combo is going to work like a charm. At least for the first couple of months or so anyway.

I should add that in the vid I saw it looks like its not moving but there is no way to tell until they put out the actual video of the new Ultra on the Capcom site. Hopefully that’s soon.

O yeah, and in that same post on Eventhubs about the tweaking that is going on in SSF4, the director mentioned that Rose is going to be able to combo into her Soul Throw. This might also mean that they are going to give other character with air grabs the ability to combo into air throws. So here’s to FlashKick>FADC>America Toss.

You know how they mentioned Guile’s footsies being improved, do you reckon that means increasing hit and/or block stun? Because it better do!

I just home his c.mk has bit more range and faster startup/recovery. Additionnal stun and damage is bonus. Cancellable c.mk might be too much but I won’t complain if that ever happens.

Sweep is fine. Fine as in, piece of shit, but I guess by now that’s part of the character.

The rest of the crouching attacks are fine I guess, unless I’m missing something.

Sweep is good, since in corner you can link it from Sonic boom, they are knocked down, and you begin corner preasure (we all know how strong this preasure is).

Guile High Kick should be slightly faster, and if possible change motion to 3 kicks, just to make it more usable, it is kinda shame that this move potential is ruined from its motion.

If Soul Throw is juggle-able, so must Guile air throw. But still, I cant see why people want Air throw to Sonic boom, unless they want it for a one time awesome event for laughs… But it WILL make Guile look cooler, so it is ok. Not game breaking or anything.

His other footsies have potential, but right now they either lack good speed (Cr.mk needs to be a 1 or 2 frames faster), or lack some hitstun (Cr.lp should atleast be 5+ on hit, not only for the Cr.lp -> Cr.mp link ease, but also Cr.lp -> Flash kick and other possible stuff, and if it is 5+ on hit then punishing would be a lot more easier, good example of possible punishes are Cr.lp -> St.Hp xx Flash kick)

His current damage output is not high, even when punishing (excluding ultra, or super to ultra, as rare it may occur), so I think it would be also better for Guile to have some damage boost (slight damage boost) in his normals.

His super is good, and it would be better because we can (hopefully) do Super to Air throw in corners!! (Hopefully)

His current ultra should Auto correct, like how Bison Auto corrects after J.mp to ultra. Or make the maximum damage comes from the final kick. It makes me sad how the camera zooms in at Guile’s face, and he of all people knows how sucky the final damage is… it is like he is sad or crying…

Like always only slight tweaking is needed, he got the tools (Sonic boom and Flash kick… and his normals), they need to be refined and tweaked, thats all.

What’s with you kids wanting all this shit to be easy? Like you’ve never played Donkey Kong. The link isn’t hard, you just don’t practice.

However, Guile’s knee bazooka needs less total frames. there’s no reason it should have merely 1 less total frame than lp sonic boom. That’s what makes it worthless to try using in a fire fight. Since it doesn’t cover much ground either, at the very least it should be faster so Guile isn’t bonded to turtlism.

Also c.lp -> FK is totally possible.

I think it would be nice if the gave his Spinning Back Knuckle more range. Just a thought. I think it is good as is but if we are talking about any and every improvement possible then why not. And also S.RH would be great if it were faster. It would rival Ken’s F+MK poke. That would be nice too.

Tiny damage though…very tiny

I’m old skool and I can say with certainty that Guile’s links are a little too difficult considering he can’t dash-in, start a combo, and finish it with a special. I’ve been playing Guile daily (arcade and console) for the last 18 months and the difference between Guile’s 1f links and Ryu’s 1f links is patently obvious.

His current ultra DOES autocorrect. I use it against crossups all the time and it works like a charm. But I feel you with the bit about the last hit. It’s shameful how little damage the final kick does. They should spread the damage out more evenly, and that last hit should be the source of like 1/4th of the damage.

anybody else notice that strengthen is misspelled?

Guile doesn’t spell check, he stares the words down till they fix themselves.
