Honestly, i’m not the person that suggested it get more damage originally, i’m just saying that if someone were to ask for that they wouldn’t exactly be out to lunch.
Guile doesn’t need a new move he needs his moves to work properly. He doesn’t need a specific crossup defense because if his recovery was reasonable and the auto-target thing worked for him, this wouldn’t be nearly as much of an issue. Plus, he needs some sort of weakness here.
Guile is designed as a turtle if he just had some of his other moves working as they should be working there would be no issues with his character design.
So we agree there’s an issue. Pick and choose which normals you want to be buffed, but it’s clear some normals need to be buffed, but when i make a decision on specific buffs to specific moves it’s all crazy so lets hear some ideas and less criticism, not that you were the chief culprit.
I mean asking for universal crossup defense is just asking for Capcom to break them. Imagine if you will Ryu get’s a knock down on Guile, and then Guile on wakeup can stop Ryu from crossing him up. What options does Ryu have anymore? None. That’s why Guile shouldn’t be able to defense against EVERYTHING. At some point you are going to have to rely on your judgement instead of a move to get you out of a bad predictament.
That’s probably why that auto-target feature should be removed.
By auto-target do you mean directionally correct moves? (Inputting a shoryu while they’re in front of you and it comes out as if you did it in the opposite direction?)
I don’t mind the cross-up problems guile have. I do mind that even without the cross-up, ryu/sagat can own him with fireballs and spacing.
That better Sonic boom is starting to sound like the way to save Guile. BETTER SONIC BOOM. BETTER RECOVERY, DAMAGE, AND STUN! (I can hope right?)
But I’m a believer that solving Guile’s cross-up problems isn’t the way to go. I’m surprised no one has suggested making his knee give frames. It allows the dood to advance with the charge held.
His knee clearly isn’t designed to actually hit anyone. You sort of pointed out -why- it shouldn’t give frames on hit. It moves him forward while maintaining his back charge. If you’re not…bad… this is a good move to gain ground. It’s use is entirely valid and doesn’t need to be something you poke someone with; why would you? He has significantly better pokes that hit at the same distance that don’t propel you as far forward…
If you’re actually connecting his bazooka knee, you did it on accident or you’re horribly mistaken as to what distance you should be using it from.
If Guile’s SB were standardized recovery :wonder: think capcom would give his hp and mp Sonic Booms his lp.Sonic Boom recovery
 asking for the same recovery could lead to a nerfing. mp.boom data for all.
I’ld rather ask for scaled dmg to match his current Sonic Boom’s scaled speed and recovery. Since he only has 2 specials and chun’s FBs are scaled, copy her dmg but buff his EX to… 70*60 like a debuffed Sagat.
Fair enough. I just think Sonic boom needs to be BUFFED. Make it give more frames or damage on hit. Sagat’s Tiger Shot’s power should have gone to Guile’s sonic boom.
For the sonic Hurricane, would a back charge ultra make sense? Also, anyone against having it come out in 4 frames or less?
Guile would basically throw a beefed up Sonic Boom that surrounds him self that serves as an Anti-Crossup GTFO move that inflicts mad chip on block. And on hit, sucks the opp in like Rufus Ultra guaranteeing a full ultra - spitting them back out ala Tatsu to continue zoning tactics.
i invented this move on the previous page lol. i’m suing you for copyright infringement.:wow:
seriously though…i’m kinda tired of thinking of things to make guile better. how about we all just become better guile players?
i feel like i have improved so much recently that i really don’t care about sagat/ryu anymore. i feel like i am more than capable of taking them out even if i am at a disadvantage…even if i do lose out in the end.
maybe we should all listen to what j.wong said after his fei long beasted west coast and battlefield arcadia.
Sonic booms should have the same recovery regardless of strength
Flash kick needs more priority
far s.roundhouse either needs to be faster or have more range (CvS2)
far s.strong needs more horizontal range for anti-air applications (CvS2)
c.forward needs to be faster or longer reaching (ssf2)
Faster recovery on bazooka knee for zoning/pressure (14 or 15 frames not 18)
Jab to strong should be a 2 frame link. 1 frame link is too hard and the reward is minimal
More durable stun bar
Close b/f.roundhouse should be an airborne move. Should go over low pokes and should make throw attempts whiff (including Zangief’s ultra. Guile does this move to counter Abel’s throw in the trailer)
Y’know, a lot of people complain that adding hitstun frames to moves can open up more 1-frame links.
Only a few one-frame links would emerge from adding one frame of hitstun to c.lp.
However…if you look at the ones that do (c.lp > most of his normals) there’s no practical reason to DO any of them. C.lp to s.mk? There’s no application to that, c.lp to c.fp? Again, it’s -not a good idea- to do this.
Browsing through his set of attacks, there’s only 1 link that adding 1 frame of hitstun would seriously help, and that’s c.lp > c.mp. The rest you can’t combo off of for the most part.
The only one I could see that might be useful is c.lp > c.fp > sf.fp xx super > ultra. (sf being far-standing). Fairly certain that would work, and even then, is that really that game-breaking? It’s not particularly easy to do on the fly.
