Capcom, The way to Strenghten Guile is

At least Guile has it better than us Vega players. We get raped on every jump-in, even poorly spaced ones.

But you have pokes that are hella fast and that air thingy cross-up is not bad either, unless you miss.

Not saying Vega players have it easier but I think Guile has it a bit harder against fast and “funky” characters like Fei, Sakura, Dictator and Vega (personal experience, not fact :P)
On the other hand, Vega tends to do worse against higher tiers, esp. Ryu and Sagat.

Both need help though, that’s for sure

both got halfassed tweaks for super.

I was dreading my RROD. Now I think I can hold off to Super until I get a replacement Xbox

people in this thread who say that guile has it hard against dictator are on some serious crack

I call it the “lean back” method. Do nothing but walk backwards shooting sonic booms until you hit a corner, then corner escape (eat a knockdown or whatever doesn’t mater) and do the same thing towards the opposite corner. See how long it takes for the Bison player to get frustrated lol. Works better if the Guile player constantly keeps saying “lean back, lean back”.* **

*do not try if you want to win
**patent pending

I actually have a pretty hard time with dictator ; ;… c.lk c.lk scissor kick pressure in the corner = don’t know how to escape properly ><

dictator has to work stupidly hard to get around guile’s zoning, the situation you descrbied should almost never happen. Poke your head into the bison forum soemtimes, you’ll see how difficult it is for dictator to even touch guile. The latest rankings (iirc) has this matchup listed as 7-3 in guile’s favor.

In SSF4 though, the matchup will drastically change of dictator’s new ultra

Pretend like you literally can ONLY use Jab Sonic Boom and Crouch Fierce. Honestly, just pretend like that’s ALL you can do, and you’ll do much better against him.

st. hp the crap out of him, stuffs scissors on start up.

don’t forget st. lp… which stuffs both his SK and slide… as long as you stay outside of his cr. mk range, it’s very difficult for vega to pressure guile… sonic boom also comes out faster then SK, lol so just keep tossing those…

I’m actually under the impression that this matchup will be even more lopsided in Super… vega has a nice new ultra, but against Guile’s sonic booms, its just going to be a big gamble move …

sonic hurricane on the other hand, should complement Guile’s “walk back defense” against vega very well, unlike the Flash Explosion which requires you to be crouch guarding…

I thought I heard that Sonic Hurricane was a downback charge, F, B, F

Somebody please tell me I’m wrong.

but dictator’s new ultra is a motion ultra, which means he can do it on reaction to a sonicboom, up to at least half screen away(as we’ve seen so far, probably even further). If this turns out to be false in the final build of SSF4, then yes the matchup would be even more lopsided to guile’s favor.

Knowing Capcoms record with Guile probably a downback charge…gotaa check the Guy v Guile vid to make sure.

why not b f b f ? why would it have to be a down back charge.

It’s not dowback. Just back ala boxer and all the other charge characters

I don’t see how bison mains can think this is that bad. Guile hits bison for tiny damage while he’s outside and then bison gets in and catches up or passes guile in one combo.

Found some proof (I think), or at least an example, of Guile’s improved normals in SSF4, was watching a video of Guy VS Guile and noticed something. Awhile back I recall reading one of the dev blogs and they mentioned that to make moves stand out more, they sometimes inflate character models (hands and arms get larger when characters punch, same with kicks etc). I noticed when Guile was in the corner he dropped a s.rh on Guy to kill him, and it immediately clicked “That looked fuckin huge”.

So I made a comparison:
http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/8394/guilesrh.png

Left is in SSF4, right is in SF4, both in the corner. Check out how much higher Guile’s boot is and how much farther it goes (it actually extends beyond the screen).

That has more horizontal and vertical distance; and presumably a larger hit box.

No offense, but going by that statement I don’t think you play bison at all, as both parts are wrong. Playing bison against guile is like being gief against a shoto, except you have regular health, no lariat, no spd, no real mixups, and no big damage.

Do you need to main bison to know the matchup? Because what i know, is that Guiles sonic boom does nearly as much damage as chun-li’s jab, and that a combo from bison can easily catch him up to guile once he gets in.

Sounds like you have Guile confused with sagat here.

Basically Bison’s guile strat is to put guile in the corner, there is quite literally NO options for Bison to get in on a perfect Guile, If guile gets out of the corner, then Bison has to wait untill he corners himself again. It’s hardly an easy match.
