I love how Seth worded his reponse in that interview. Saying guile has been on top of the sf world…haha.

Yeah wasn’t CE his only top game? I think CVS2 was the closest he ever got again to top tier.

i dunno, i still think some players will use ultra one as a wakeup anti air…depending on the opponent. i’m quite interested in finding out what they’ve done to his normals. i wonder if he has any new ones too.

you do have to remember that deejay is in this game too. the majority of good guile players will be able to pick him up and learn him quickly, so i think quite a few guile mains will have deejay as an alt (including me). maybe deejay will be the character to pick vs sagat…and guile against bison ect ect.

I don’t know why this always crops up. “It might make him too good.” I really don’t see what’s wrong with options in this case, I mean Capcom’s not taking away Viper’s ability to combo into her Ultra off of an SJC link or a burn kick/seismo hammer hit. I get that IV characters are going to be IV characters, but the game is just mad dry because of it.

Yeah a QCF x 2 Ultra would not do much more to make Guile better. Especially if that ability was given to his sonic hurricane since it’s already been said that sonic hurricane doesn’t even juggle for more than a couple hits. It would still have 7 plus frame start up any ways.

U1:Wake up anti-crosup that hits for like one it and may let your opponent recover before you do.

I used to think that Guile’s U2 had the same utility of Sim U1, but since you can jump over it…

what would be awesome is if they made ultra one a qcf x 2…then it might actually work

i guarantee that at some point in the development of sf4, f.hk was either an ultra launcher, or set up way more stuff than it does now.

I don’t know, if you want a dynamic/versatile Guile, you really are better off just going and playing like ST or CVS2. In IV, he’s just boring to me. And I constantly hear “Well he’s always been defensive blah blah”, I’m not saying that in order to be successful you should start trying to make Guile something he’s not… but I’m definitely saying that this style of Guile has been done before and in a far more interesting manner. I’d rather play a game where I have options than having a “mind game” of patience that just really isn’t that effective when characters really aren’t taking the huge risks they used to to close in on Guile. The difference between Guile in IV and Guile elsewhere is that if Guile hit you with something like backfist after a fireball or a flash kick, the opponent would have to take time to consider what just happened and whether or not they’d want to chance that again. In IV, I feel like I’m constantly just slapping the opponent on the wrist and it kind of sucks.

World warriors, championship edition, hyper fighting, then they nerfed him over and over, then he came back in capcom vs SNK. Not sure about sfEX??

Anyways, once again i reiterate that CvS2 is the most important version because that’s the closest to how Guile should play in this game. Hell if you watch the videos, sonic boom still does terrible damage there and his normals still do similar damage, yet he’s quite competitive…

does anyone even know if sonic hurricane works as an anti air coz i’m hearing it does 2 hits which is pretty weak imo also same deal with super to ultra, which means even if he had flash kick to ultra it would be 2 hits. which is about as useful as fei longs ultra links… i’m kinda hopeing they tweak flash explosion so it can actually be used as an anti air and hits the whole thing then it might actually be good, also focas attacks are suppose to be better so maby that will be another pluss for flash explosion.

i’m pumped that the hitbox tweaks on his normals is somewhat official now.

as long as he actually plays more like guile i’ll be happy it just would be real nice to have some easy mode ultra bs that the top tiers have. but i don’t think we have any chance of getting that, i guess we just have to be happy with what we do get.

is anyone else under the impression that hakan is gonna rape guile? coz some of his stuff looks scarey as shit it’s like blanka honda and gief all in one with grabs from half screen.

he has a frickin’ air throw too.

i know we can’t tell for sure yet, but if you wanted me to name guile’s hardest new matches, i think ibuki, makoto, dudley, hakan, juri and t hawk are all going to be a bitch for guile. :frowning:

I would like to remind folks of something wiz noted in that “the only combo into U2 for Guile was juggle off of super.”

Now, I’m curious which super. If it was mk super, then we can assume it has AT LEAST as quick a startup as Flash Explosion. This alone, would be awesome. It would be way easier to punish EX greenhands, EX scissors, akuma’s sweep (!), baited shoryus, etc. It’s much easier to keep a plain ol’ back charge as opposed to a db charge.

However, if it’s the lk super, we really don’t know anything about how fast it’s startup is. I don’t know the specifics, but I think the juggle to ultra from the mk super is like a 1-2 frame link while the lk super gives a 3-5 frame link. It’s impossible (as far as I know) to link an ultra after an hk super. If wiz linked it off of an hk super… that thing would have a godly startup.

So essentially, what I’m trying to get at, is that since no one knows which super he used, this entire post is useless.

yea i aggree with you thoes matchups will most likely suck i dunno about the alpha characters and i alwayse had trouble fighting t hawk in super turbo so i’m really not looking foward to him lol.

is there any video of super to sonic hurricane actually hitting? because like i said before if it does 2 hits it’s not really even worth it specially after scaleing from super, your better off just waiting till they skrew up unless super does a lot better damage i don’t see myself having super bar a lot anyway.

also wiz said he played every character for like 3 mins each so take what he said with a grain of salt. i’m sure you can prolly hit sonic hurrican of a light fk if they are at the top of their jump just like you can with flash explosion, i see no reason why this wouldn’t work. it isn’t to practical but ive seen it done in matches before with flash explosion.

what would be sweet is if you could just trade your ultras to have a double length super bar and maby build meter a bit faster. id take that over an ultra.

Guile and Blanka are being flushed out. Seth’s interview made that more than obvious and considering how good all the new and 3s characters are…Capcom wants to see new faces and really doesn’t care what Vega or Blanka or Guile players think.

The game should have been developed by Capcom USA, not just funded as that would have meant players has some type of influence.
Right now it’s a group of dudes that dont play SF and just want to see new faces do pretty things with their 4 min Ultra movies
