Capcom, The way to Strenghten Guile is

Yeah, if Guile has better hitbox on his moves…I can see the st. HP nerf. Getting tired of most characters cr. MK’s having better range than Guile’s cr. MK and shit like that. Hope the same applies for his FA…almost everyone has better range on theres, than Guile. Crumble it’s his only real way to get Flash Explosion, c’mon.

if all thats been changed are hitboxes then guile is still going to have to work twice as hard to win than most characters. crap damage is still crap, even if its a smidge easier to get

i am guessing they did a little more than JUST hitbox changes, but what do i know

EDIT: well obviously they did more than just change hitboxes: they cut the damage on his old best poke

EDIT 2: ok, after reading seth’s whole post i’m feeling a little better, i know his job is to assuage fears, but it still seems like they took a long look at guile… for better or worse.

I still just can’t really believe they would tone down damage on one of his moves unless they had given him significant boosts in other areas

You mean, to not just make st. HP his only go to move? possibly. Most people never use st. MP or MK for example, or bazooka knee…or sobot…and some other stuff.

improved bazooka knee and sobat would be much appreciated… those two moves have so much potential and yet very little use (to me anyway, but i suck so…)

I use sobat all the time. It’s great for moving back to keep charge and still having an attack out there. It stuffs surprisingly large number of moves like Cammy’s ultra.

i’m sure he means the f+mk application of the move… its almost useless because the lower body invincibility start really late now… it’s also -4 on block… you are better off using far HK or far HP in most situations where you would have used f+mk…

Guile has got a boost in stamina and damage maybe the standing fp was a little to strong after the increase and needed a little tweaking afterward.

I was so disappointed after the podcast about character changes to hear that Guile got nothing, but then I said to myself wait we have a big soup of changes and some very subtle ones to the family man that these guys just wouldn’t get out of 4 hours of play with a lot of characters. As a matter of fact I am quite excited for Guile in ssfiv and think he will fair quite well.

If anyone can get potential out of Guile it would be from the Guile pros here.

Bazooka and Sobat only good when the opponent is knocked down, and you want to mess around…though sobat is pretty nifty for corner games…but again, not much use in this game. And do something with close B+HK…the move should be an overhead and go over crouching attacks dammit. Guile High Kick is still a joke IMO.

One thing I would change

Make it so it does not automatically swap sides when someone cross up even though if they release the kick too soon.

Then even out the damage.

You do know this isn’t a Guile-specific issue? Other characters benefit from “auto-correcting” way more than Guile. Honda can use your cross-up movement as the directional input of EX Headbutt. Bison can do it with EX PC or SK.

Guile needs more than damage. Damage would be good for him, but he really needs tweaks that would strengthen his defensive lockout, decent BnB, and set-ups for comeback damage.

from the vegas vids he seemed to have super damage, like as if he been training with e.honda. does n e one know if he still has this? i would take this over nothing but yeah id prefer a tad more combo potential along with an average damage output,
