Uh oh somebody knows something.
lol true. People hope for a gameplay mechanic for the shades.
It is kinda crappy tho to give him shades tho. People talk about how Guile could be buff but not OP. They mention many ideas.
I personally would have like more priority and invinc. on flash kick so it can be used like it was intended to.
Also I think Guile having an improved Flash Kick, FADC to ultra(with good damage) wouldn’t break his character when you look at other characters.
But adding shades with no noticeable gameplay is definitely a troll to Guile as a character.
flashkick FADC backbreaker is literally ALL I need for Guile and I’ll be a happy camper.
I understand the need to keep him shitty. A super defensive character like him, if he were to receive the wrong kind of buff he could just dominate most of the cast with ease.
Though I do wish they had made Sonic Hurricane more… “ULTRA-y”. I know I said it a few times already, but man, for an Ultra, it’s plain as fuck. Shoulda legitly been a fat hurricane like Seths new one, but vertical, or even the end of Cody’s Criminal Upper Ultra. Hitboxes all the way up.
Coulda been epic.
coulda, shoulda, woulda
Hey atleast it’s not long. Some of the new ones not only will it be frustrating because you got hit by an ultra but you have a full length movie to watch too.
Honestly, though I have seen no proof of it so far, the st FP nerf perturbs me. I mean honestly? Was that necessary. Admittedly no guile experts have gotten their hands on the SSF4 Guile yet, so maybe he will have some unexpected new tricks… maybe some invul frames on FK, mebbe longer reach on c.MK, maybe some means of comboing to ultra outside Super-> Ultra… But why nerf a dan tier character… didnt they say "We dont want to balance by nerfing, but balance by buffing… Who got buffs? So far all I have heard is nerf nerf nerf… Oh hey, gen’s mk-hands got wonky, vega got a few more hits before losing the claw… woo? Guile gets a sunglasses taunt… fan-dabby-babulous… Okay so that can’t hurt, I like the glasses, but seriously for actual playstyle that simply doesn’t help.
I love playing as Guile, I do… But seriously, I may have to pick up a serious alt if I want to actually play, unless they have ninja’d something into guile’s repetoire that we just haven’t seen yet… (I even have a sonic boom energy drink… that I refuse to drink, though very curious what it tastes like…)
That was focus canceling into a stance change, which only Gen can do and the timing is very strict. Focusing into a taunt, which everyone can do, only means that you can focus and stay in the same spot (taunting) for however many frames (30 according to Gilley’s post) before doing anything else.
Thinking out loud…
I was thinking the same thing.
Here’s my 2 cents based on what I noticed with Hakan and Gen:
[]With Hakan, adding oil enhances his total moveset.
[]With Gen, a stance change gives him a different moveset altogether.
With that being said, could it be that the glasses will enhance his total moveset, or turn him into another character altogether? Considering his 1st alt is essentially Charlie’s outfit, couldn’t he simply fight like Charlie after putting the shades on? Or it could be something crazier: Putting on the glasses might make him a non-charge character.
Just thinking out loud…
Your thinking out loud is good for its comedic value.
it’s already been confirmed that his sunglasses do nothing of obvious value. It’s a taunt.
What about Vega? He’s got a removable mask and claw…and I really don’t play SFIV Vega alot, but his mask doesn’t do shit for him, on or off…and he us EX get it off…little sad.
So Guile’s taunt is still just a taunt…but since the lack of info is killing people, theory fighter will continue…like regulary scheduled.
maybe the rumors about ‘shadow’ were actually guile wearing his shades?

Woooowwww that Sean mod is nice. Sean was always one of the more aesthetically pleasing shotos for me.
"–Without Claw – Mask On–
10 points of damage are taken from any move involving Vega’s claw.
His Crouching Medium Punch does 90 damage. Without the claw, it does 80. It doesn’t remove a percentage – strictly 10 points. This includes each hit of his Ultra (…dang!)
–With Claw – Without Mask–
Vega deals 110% damage.
Using the Crouching Medium Punch again as an example, instead of doing 90 points, the attack deals 99.
Vega dishes out an extra 10% damage to all moves, so the stronger the move, the greater the gain.
For example, normally, his Ultra does 450, but without the Mask, it does 495, adding a whole 45 points.
However, without his Mask, Vega takes an extra 25% damage. Ryu’s Standing Medium Kick normally did 70 points, but when Vega was hit by the same move without his Mask, it dealt 88 points.
To put it simply, without his mask, Vega gets a 10% boost to offense and a 25% drop in defense.
–Without Mask – Without Claw–
The defense alignments stay identical.
However, when it comes to attack, the effect of missing the Claw is factored in before the missing Mask.
What this means is that the damage dealt is cut by 10 points, then 10% is added.
The damage of a Crouching Medium Punch then looks like this:
90 - 10 = 80 x 0.10 = 88 Points of damage.
However, stronger moves and moves that don’t use the claw still get a bonus from the missing mask. Vega’s Crouching Medium Kick normally does 70, but since it’s not affected by the missing Claw, it still gets the 10% gain of the missing mask, making the move worth 77. If a move does 100 damage or more, it stays the same or gets the benefit as well. This is because it will get, at most, 10 points deducted, but with gain 10 or more points from the 10% bonus.
**–Summary–
Removing Vega’s claw via his “taunt” is just that – a taunt. You gain nothing from doing it. In fact, you only lose stats and range. However, throwing his mask away when you’re really behind in a fight may be your only chance at coming back. His better combos gain 30-40 points of damage, and his Ultra increases by 45. Just…don’t get hit. Without his mask, Vega is incredibly vulnerable.**"

Seth’s response on Guile via “Ask Capcom”:
*SH = Sonic Hurricane
http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/22637961/Seth._Whats_up_with_Gen…&post_num=31#399459485
Yeah that’s how I pretty much saw them buffing Guile any ways. Flash Explosion sounds mad useless now.
So, Basically SH is…meh. Being more versatile tan flas explosion is not saying much.
I hope these itbox adjustments work out.
just great… Seth finally answers a question regarding Guile… and it had to be the dumbest question someone could ask…
“What(in your opinion) will make Guile players prefer the Sonic Hurricane over Flash Explosion?”
I’m sure Guile players would prefer ANY ULTRA(commands included) in the entire game over the Flash Explosion…
:qcf::qcf::3p:
That’s all Seth needed to say.
I don’t think some of you realize how important that little sentence in Seth’s statement was; “The “footsies boost” (hitbox adjustments) also helps him in that same range.” is mighty for Guile as that can mean everything is fixed.
Most of Guiles problems come from a fucked-up hitbox; FK, Ultra, Jump-ins, cross-up, etc. yeah. I’d like a one button 0 frame ultra that tracks ground and air…but let’s be realistic.
Guile will always have to work hard for his wins…most of us don’t mind that. But if you can see what’s coming, you do the correct move to counter it and it gets stuffed=not bloody OK.
If that’s fixed, Guile is fixed. You still have to zone, bait, link, etc but that’s a given. That’s why you play Guile in the first place.
Like I said lets wait and see if these hitbox fixes work out.
