seriously guys, his damage is not the problem… its his frames and hitbox…
damage wise, the only move that need changing is his EX Flashkick… and cr.HP should always do 100 damage like every other character in the game(except Sakura)
this is something i completely forgot about. from watching videos of basically everyone else but guile…it does seem like sagat/akuma/ryu ect got a bit of a damage nerf. or am i seeing things?
in tight matches against same skilled players, that damage nerf is going to hopefully make a difference…unless they nerfed guile’s damage too hehe.
that’s kinda what upsets me. over on the neogaf thread, guile was getting mocked last time i checked. lol.
now i’ve heard them actually speak about guile (rather than it just be in writing), i’m not as worried as i was. they didn’t seem to have any idea about guile at all.
Flashkick fadc shades (if it is somewhat safe) and airthrow to shades (that will be safe for sure) is just gonna be the new thing i’m gonna be doing that stuff all the time. lol at who ever said about throwing on the shades just before you lose reminds me of the end fight in desperado when that dude gets blown up and has the blood running down his face then puts on the shades and gets hit by a car.

If he is good, cool; if he sucks, cool too. Just blows my mind that they actually spent time working out the mechanics of the sunglasses. Polishing the brass on the Titanic, as it were.
But maybe he is secretly amazing and none of the knowledgable players that used him noticed minor tweaks.
Kara focus through FB’s to shades taunt IMHO. I can see that working great when you match a guile EX SB with your own SB, then kara shades through the 2nd hit.
Just throwing my 2 cents, if the game has changed in a way that makes other top tier characters more weaker, Guile should be able to stand strong againts them. I’ve seen some really nasty guile players so far, they use what they got. I mean, most of these guys who tested Guile are not guile mainers, so how could they understand the essence of playing Guile by just picking him up and playing a couple of hours when you guys spent probably a whole year on him?
Most of those guys main very different characters, it’s kind of like Yeb and the few who use Gen, Gen is an expert character only a few can use him right, how can these guys come on a show after playing 35 characters for a few hours and say, ok Gen is weak?
Guile will be ok, I think he will be one of if not thee best, have faith. Fighting Guiles is fun and very challanging to me.
The only reason why I think Guile doesn’t have any new moves is from a designers point of view it would probably put him too over the top and make him Over powered. As much as most of you want that, I think that would have been bad. Still I think Guile is beast.
Seeing as how a few people have had their anti-air moves(dps) nerfed to where it almost seems like you have to time them like Guiles, i’m suspecting that Guile is a secret monster more and more.
Really, how much would just having a 2 frame link from cr lp to cr mp improve Guiles win percentage?
It’d be very easy to give Guile a 3rd special move without making him overpowered. Dee Jay is basically a better Guile with more special moves and still isn’t overpowered. 3rd Strike’s Remy has 4 special moves and isn’t overpowered either.
I do agree with you that the nerfing of the top tiers dumb ass shit will help Guile. Almost as much as DEM SHADES.
Yeah, the way things are sounding, it’s as if Capcom is dumbing down the better characters to balance out things…not keep them the exact same, and buff the other characters like everyone thought. That’s cool by me.
Ryu now has to work for his Ultra’s damage…just like Guile. Sagat has the same shananigan combos, but takes a huge hit due to scaling…just like Guile. Rufus has to take chances, now that his strength is average…just like…Guile.
It’s funny really. People can do the same shit…but there not getting anything out it…now they’ll know what the fuck it feels like to play Guile or Vega or any other low tier character.
when you consider each character that got nerfed also happen to be some of guile’s worst matches, maybe this is why the developers didn’t feel the need to give him anything new? sagat now has 1000 hp and a damage nerf, zangief got a health and lariat nerf, rufus got a damage nerf, akuma loses the roundhouse loop (which worked on guile), ryu’s srk got badly nerfed.
are these nerfs going to help guile enough? interesting topic i think.
on the other hand, chun li is now looking a tier (which i predicted when i saw her new ultra), rose is way better and abel/ken/honda/bison all got some stuff that advances them from their original sf4 state. of the new characters, i think guile might struggle with a few of them. if i was going to take a guess, i would say ibuki is going to be THE bad match for sure. the rest is just pure guessing at this point…though i don’t see guy/cody/adon being too bad.
so maybe we shouldn’t get too downhearted just yet. maybe less means more.
i’m sure mr wizard said he’s been given a slight health nerf (probably 50 hp), lariat has definitely been nerfed and they took away lariat trade into ultra 2.
