You haven’t understood why i spoke about ps2 at first. The fact they played or not on PS2 version at home doesn’t matter at all. It was just a way to show they can adapt pretty well to something even worse than ggpo, and therefore that saying boss is fine with this version is just an assumption based on him playing sometimes (extensively (sic)) on it.
If you can’t tolerate any single other argument than yours, you should write something in your signature like “don’t try to argue with me”, that will save both our time.
He’ll probably say something like:
“you guys waste too much time arguing about dumb shit”
I’d support your anti-Derek movement, but my avatar is too good, so I don’t want to switch it. I’m there in spirit, though! Fuck 3SOE! (I’ll still play it like 99% of the complainers because there’s no choice, juuuust like SF4…)
I know exactly why you spoke about the PS2 which is why I asked if anybody in Japan actually plays on PS2. See if they don’t choose to play on PS2 like they choose to play on GGPO your point is invalid. I tolerate logical arguments just fine, it just so happens yours isn’t. You insinuate without proof (lack of evidence) they must play on PS2 making the same, no, more extreme assumption that you said I shouldn’t make.(hypocrisy)
If you want others to consider your points they actually need to make sense.
Good point.
I think the game is fine offline, and online its just like any other fighter.
Capcom made this port with FAR more care than any other old school fighter from any other company, and is continuing to patch it.
You could at least provide constructive criticism instead of some childish hate campaign, and just thank god they didn’t give it the SNK port treatment. If you act so ungrateful we’ll never get a CvS2 port or any port for that matter.
So. My point, them being able to adapt to PS2 version (faster version and whether or not they train with it at home) in tourneys (they came, they won, we can assume they adapted pretty well) which leads to them being also probably able to adapt to ggpo (whatever differences with arcade) which leads to assumption ‘ggpo == close to arcade’ cannot be proved this way, is invalid depending if they choose or not to play on PS2 like they choose to play on GGPO?
Where is the sense here? Looks like Chewbacca defense to me.
Or do you just try to show that as i cannot prove (to you) they used ps2 version at home to practice, my others points are also irrelevant even if they’re not really linked? Some kind of procedurial mistake extended to any arguments in a discussion?
Your point is meaningless unless they choose to play the PS2 version. They would have to choose the PS2 version even though the arcade version is available as is the situation with GGPO. You need to draw a similarity between the two or your point is irrelevant.
You don’t just get to spew irrelevant nonsense like “they played the DC version in 2003 therefore GGPO doesn’t mean anything” and expect it to be considered. It’s non sequitur, the situations are not similar and your conclusion makes little sense.
I really don’t know what they’re patching or what are their priorities:
- crashes still occur, with the same recurrence as before the two patches, maybe more…
- i got disconnected from lobbies about 1 on ten times (suddenly alone in the room, occurs even when i’m currently playing, and when i hit search button again, i find the exact same players in another room)…
- on PSN, i cannot see more than 8 (max) rooms after a search. Quite often, i got 3 results. 2 patches after, nothing new…
- ‘Improves network stability’ : i’m still curious to know what this exactly means, as global stability is identical : just bad (to be polite)…
- people i used to play fine on ggpo are now from casually playable to teleport fest after a couple round/match…
- they deliberately changed bar size, and even if it’s probably a small thing to tweak (numbers in a table), nothing changed so far…
- sound issues after rollbacks (hearing a hit, but seeing block) is a huge regression from original ggpo…
- the really important things for a so called ‘online edition’, like options during search, usable ping clue, etc… are just missing, not even badly implemented…
Globally, nothing has been tested deeply enough, this thing has barely a beta version level.

Always play on a CRT. I can’t believe how many serious players don’t. When I was scrubby as fuck, I read about how laggy most current TVs are. My mind was blown and I was sad for about two minutes, but a couple hours later I was scared for my life as I carried an EXTREMELY HEAVY and very large tube TV that I bought for $40 on Craigslist down some old lady’s very steep stairs. I’ve barely ever played on anything else since. Back then I had a roommate with a sick HDTV… I would watch sports ok that while playing SF on the tubes. Sick.

I’ve got a solution for the EX moves not coming out. Just play Akuma!
We’ve provided constructive criticism for them, there’s an official bug and glitches thread and we’ve even made polls for community changes we wanted. They’ve provided three patches that changed what?
They announced that they fixed ranked matchmaking… nope, still takes fucking ages to find a game.
They announced they fixed trial combo bugs. Thank god for that, I mean out of all the things the community wanted fixed or changed that was on the top of the list.
They announced they fixed disconnect %, nope I logged on today with a 36% disconnect ratio, I have never dc’d.
They announced they fixed invis bug, nope got it today, I literally laughed out loud when it happened, it only solidifies the fact that their patches don’t mean shit.
But don’t worry guys, we have a grip of color packs and alternate stage music to select from.
As far your statement on them giving this port the most care, what the fuck are you talking about? They took the Dreamcast port and applied changes to the code, this is easily the laziest way to do this as a professional. I would have preferred Backbone studios over Iron Galaxy, Backbone at the very least has 4 games of porting experience, not only that, they aren’t loaded with a 1000 bugs on launch. When this game was released it was fucking embarrassing how many bugs there were/still are. You don’t release a game if it has a ton of bugs, though if you don’t give a shit, you wave the bugs and try and meet submission regardless. That’s some love and care right there. The fact is when this game was submitted to Microsoft and Sony, they only look for compliance issues, game play issues (game freezing/console freezing) and networking issues (can the game be ran on all NAT types.)
It’s funny because this was so hard to fuck up, all they had to do was port the game from the Arcade build, clean up the bugs that pop up from the port. Add some menus, and then the only real work after that was online matchmaking. Take note from SSF4, I hate that game but it easily has the best online experience. But no, they focused on stupid shit like HD life and meter bars. The dumb ass vault that’s filled with shit you will look at once and not give two shits about after that. Terrible remixed music, fucking disgrace to the gdlk production of the originals. Combo and parry trials… was a cool concept, but they picked the most fucking redundant shit for you to combo/parry. Half of the shit you would never use in a real game because its A.) A waste of meter. B.) Fucking stupid C.) Character specific, and fucking stupid.
Ugh… /rant

I might add that, we did provide constructive feedback, and made sure it would be forwarded to Sven at capcom.
Sven quick replied something in the lines of “we’re gonna look at it”.
A monthe later, I, and others, contacted Iron Galaxy directly, and at least on my part, I had a reply saying they added some the the issues I mentionned to their bug database.
All these ssues were on the feedback we sent Capcom, yet, IG had no idea these problems existed in the first place.
What the hell have they been patching ? and more important, are they still gonna patch it some more or address any of the issues we reported ?
I support the Derek Neal av, no matter how stupid it can be, I had the same idea, but thought we should have a Derek Neal day or better a DN week.
/ tilting windmills
They travelled to go to ps2 tourneys. Can’t we assume they chose/accepted to play the PS2 version and also were quite confident about their skills on this inferior version, instead of staying in japan and go playing at arcade?
I really don’t understand how you can seriously conclude anything on how they feel about ggpo based on having arcade near their closest 7/11 shop but still playing on it from time to time or a couple godlike players using it.
Did they use it? Yes, they did.
Did they enjoy using it? Probably, they’re not masochist i guess.
Why did they play it instead of going to arcade? Well, it can be for a shit load of reasons, one of them being lazy but still wanting to play that damn good game (choice to do: poweron/play/poweroff computer or go outside/take metro/play/take metro/go home), another being majority of arcades closing at midnight from what i saw myself, another one being they felt it’s really good and close enough to arcade, even online. But, none of those reasons is more valid than other ones from what i read so far.
Is the ggpo version different from arcade? Yes, it is. The online aspect alone makes it different. Then, add emulation issues.
Did they were able to show godlike matches, crazy stuffs, on ggpo online? Yes.
Can we so conclude ggpo == arcade, from the previous answer? No.
Did they also were able to show godlike matches, crazy stuffs, on PS2, years before? Yes.
Does those 4 last Q mean that, as they’re able to adapt to ps2, they’re also able to adapt to ggpo online, whatever differences (speed, online delay, etc) with arcade, as long as those differences are not badder than ps2? Pretty safe to say yes.
I can’t remember a tourney or anything serious being played on DC, so i didn’t mention it before and i won’t after. Not sure why you’re using this here.
Anyway, last post for me on this, this leads to nothing but misunderstanding, rhetorical tilt and…waste of our time.
Just goes to show you can’t trust Capcom with re-releases anymore. 3S isn’t even my favorite game and I’m upset at how much they didn’t give a shit about the rerelease.
god help us all if they move on to CvS2.
Teleport is PP/KK…
Knowing a failed teleport is an srk through the wind…
Dude seriously, I’ve already pointed out the flaw in your logic, endlessly repeating yourself doesn’t make your points any more logical.
No one said they’re gods. They are however the people who have put in the most time with (often) a variety of different versions of the game. Any very good player has spent a lot of time on a cabinet and knows how it should feel/play.
I’m going to trust the people who have spent a stupid amount of time in their lives to tell me if it feels right (AND my own feeling) before I trust some twats on SRK who haven’t even played on a machine before.
If you can’t understand that you’re just being argumentative for the sake of it. My attitude is hopeful, but the reality is the game isn’t what they said it would be.
The whole top players dont know as much thing applies to recent games but we’re talking about a game people have been playing for around 10 years in some cases. If someone has been playing it since the first half of the 2000s and owns a versus city cab, I’m going to trust their opinion more than Louiscipher.
You forgot to mention they could play others in far away prefectures if they liked to for a reason under why. Playing an old friend who moved away or someone you don’t see often due to distance is a good reason to tolerate inferior ports for some friendlies.
I feel really bad for all the people who picked up a console and arcade sticks just for the “Arcade Perfect, Love Letter” that is 3SOE. It’s a love letter with “P.S. Enjoy your AIDS” written at the bottom.
So a love the letter fans, used a version(ver.B) the fans don’t like? Ouch
On some real shit i think they thought they were doing the release justice lol .its just the the things they should have put the most effort into they did not. like you know…making sure the port is 100% perfect
I think we should just call this ver. C
