Where is Derek Neal now? He was everywhere before the release, where is he now?
When Maxamillion (sorry for sp) got called out, he responded. When Floe got called out, he responded. They at least had the courtesy to address the problems associated to whatever they were involved in. Now this Derek Neal claims arcade perfect to everyone, I want to hear his response on why it is not arcade perfect. He was quick to read the forums and threaten me with a law suit. I know he is reading this forum right now.
Please stop hiding like Gadhafi. We will find you.
Could someone who knows more about programming explain how much more difficult it would have been to port the CPS original rather than the Dreamcast version? Would that have been feasible?
The point is, they are human, and have a very large capacity to be wrong, which they have proven again and again (see: this same exact situation with various ST console ports).
I like that you use the word opinion. Opinion is very different from fact. Yet many people in this thread and others try to state their opinion as fact, and that’s where the trouble begins. I can’t count the times that a top player/OG has said something that was proven factually incorrect about a specific console port of a game, and people took it on total faith and spread that garbage around instead of doing just a tiny bit of research to see that someone has already done scientific testing to prove the opposite.
The best is when you show a naysayer said testing, and they completely discount it any way they can, even going so far as to attack the character of the person who did it. This community owns.

As for the crashing on 3SOE, I experience this. It’s not too frequent, but it really shouldn’t ever happen. It tends to happen to me just after the end of a match, and is more frequent if my opponent and I get disconnected from each other (yet neither of us gets a disconnect %).
The person you’re looking for isn’t me. However I have some coding experience with C# and pulling apart someone else’s code to figure out how to implement it correctly is not at all easy. There are lots of things that don’t HAVE to be done one specific way and those vary from person to person.
It’s like looking at a painting and then being expected to know exactly how it was created. It takes a lot of time and often many things end up not like the original.
Edit: If someone showed that emulation is identical to cps3 board I would eat my own hair and kiss Louis. Then I’d fly to the Mars because Earth really sucks.
there’s even variation among emulators in how the game runs. it’s accepted that mame had the most input lag and most people thought fba was faster than mame. and that doesn’t take into account the hardware differences (at numerous levels) between setups. i’m not sure how we could even chalk up “emulation” to a single entity to even compare it to the arcade nevermind say they’re the same.
either way this thread sucks. yi might have valid points but hes obviously driven by some personal vendetta. the problems with oe annoy me more than anyone but this is the relevant medium though which 3s is played in 2011 and i would prefer for them to fix it than think we’re done with it. in hindsight, i wish they had saved some of the budget to mediate potential problems than on the new artwork and music, which are already an afterthought for most of us. fixing the game would require some serious backtracking and i don’t know if the team is capable of that, financially or otherwise. i don’t know what to think anymore really.
I have no personal vendetta. I have a career and I like girls. It is obvious that most of the population that play 3rd Strike don’t like this edition, with all the threads on the forums, but obviously no one listens. So I am just using my voice like everyone else, demonstrating leadership qualities to lead against trash.
If that is the medium for which 3rd is to be played in 2011, then don’t call it arcade perfect. You can just say, we tried our best to mimic the greatest fighting game ever made 3rd Strike, but how can one duplicate the Mona Lisa? Really, I knew as soon as I went to the Capcom office this game was going to suck. But I signed some legal documents not being able to talk about it and warn everyone about the suckage.
And I don’t understand why I can’t have a personal vendetta if I chose to have one. This game is my blood sweat and tears for the last 10 years. I’ve invested my time, my money, my passion and everything to this game and community, only for these idiots at Capcom to come and put out this garbage. I’ve spend countless hours teaching players this game and I know when an effort is made. There is obviously no effort made. I am lucky to have an arcade to still play 3rd Strike at, and always have been, but there are players who don’t and always have wished to play arcade perfect 3rd Strike somehow, and that is what these car salesmen used to bait them into buying this, “arcade perfect”. This is obviously disrespectful to every player who has wanted that experience, but also disrespectful to every 3rd Strike legend in America and Japan hoping to have a revival and see the glory of this game. MOV called this game incomplete and an injustice to 3rd Strike fans.
What should I do? Sit back and let them get away with this trash? Japanese players obviously aren’t going to hit up this board especially with the arcades they have there. Pyro doesn’t even acknowledge this games existence along with just about every other Socal 3rd Strike player. Please, don’t make excuses for these people. In 3rd Strike, to be the best, you have to force yourself to demand perfection, to train, to learn and make an effort to raise the level of your play and the level of this game. You get out of this game as much as you put into it. So as long as we keep saying it is just a $15 game and make excuses saying that is about as good as it gets in 2011, settling for mediocre ports, than that is all we will get. Don’t get used that.
Please don’t make a mockery out of the game I love.
Imagine a world where the sport of basketball was given a updated revision. Instead of having greats like Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird and Nick Van Exel to test the game and work on the game, they get Darko Milicic, Antoine Walker, Brian Scalabrine and Kwame Brown with JaMarcus Russell as the producer. The court is smaller, the cheerleaders are gone, but instead we got a new leather basketball and an updated NBA logo. Instead of the original NBA on NBC theme music we get some fucking Justin Bieber remix. Instead of getting the NBA on TNT commentary group of Chuck, Cwebb, Kenny and Ernie, we get Ultradavid and some kid with down syndrome.
if it wasn’t obvious enough from the posts i’ve made for 8 years, i agree with all that. but i didn’t say that this is as good as it gets or that anybody should settle for OE in its current form. i’m just saying that 3S isn’t going to get rereleased a hundred times until everything is 101%. either this edition gets fixed and we can finally be proud of using it for the purposes of 3rd strike, or this thing goes down the shitter and that’s about it for 3S almost everywhere. and since we don’t know whether this team can deconstruct the game and put it back together with everything fixed, i have to assume for now that hostility isn’t the thing that’s going to make it more likely to happen. but i don’t know what is, either.
Well, if the CPS3 version is written in ASM, which is what I’ve always been told, then it requires it to be emulated or rewritten. ASM is hardware specific.
Ok OMG I did not know they took out save state in parry practice. Omg what are you doing I tried not to rage. I like OE a hell of alot but what the hell is that. I mean seriously what the hell is that why would you take a feature out. That feature is what made 5 star raged in the first place and making me rage right now. WTF ok let met calm down. Could you please replace save state back in parry training. Thank you. OMG what the fuck.
