Words cannot even describe how many issues I’ve had with this game. Why I sit for hours on end, only being referred to red dots is a start down a long road to me ending with actually playing a full match with both characters invisible.
Just what the fuck.
Some shit I can’t even parry, because I don’t know who decided to do what on that. It feels like I literally have to look into the future to catch the shit and not just see the fucking kick coming and BOOM parry.
Everything just feels so off half the time and sometimes I can’t tell if it’s my execution or just the fact that I have to work toward a new kind of execution just for this version.
Then there’s the music randomly going out while in the middle of a match, game FREEZING the ps3 after a win/loss results page or even in mid match when a super comes out, frameskips/lag delay on people who have yellow dots, LYING ABOUT SAID YELLOW DOTS then turning orange next time you see them load up, Ranking system (I seriously don’t even think it’s supposed to reset. I just think it broke at a certain point. like just, random negative letters. What the fuck?), syncing problems, players mysteriously DROPPING completely from a room, you still being readied up for a match, but suddenly your number disappears (Causing you to press the button again and fall out of your placement. What the flying fuck.), no customization on a list of people you want to go against who are hosting (Like IV or whatever the fuck else.) no options to do a better search, etc.
Like how the fuck does replays have a option to search WITH TAGS, but Ranked match doesn’t?
Still, I should’ve expected this shit. IV:AE and UMVC running around with their shitstorms, it feels like Crapcom is making a shitfest all over the place now.
edit: And the fact that they make this shitty ass remix album unlockable, but I have to pay for fucking second impact music is a further slap in the face.
on day one i thought we all agreed that you’re not supposed to press a damn button at the lobby screen, ever. otherwise welcome to the back of the line. never touch anything if things are in working order even if it looks wrong.
but yeah in hindsight its idiotic that you can search for replays by continent, but you can’t search for opponents by continent. obviously the game knows which continent the players are in, but you cant use that information for something useful.
Coulda sworn I responded to this shit, but yeah we did agree to that and it’s been noted, but it’s still just simply an idiotic issue that never should have existed.
That aside, that brings up the other issue in ranked where it’s all - See good player and begin to hit button, but said player drops out.
Accidentally hits button again while search screen is up.
New player shows up with your name already checked and they check before you can see if their ping is any good.
Player is a red ping.

Not to mention, I find myself playing ranked more for people with decent pings than actually in normal player rooms, because I can never fucking find anyone yellow or green in there, but that’s beside the real point of this topic.
It feels like the pipeline for this game was full of last minute technical difficulties that never got solved and they just “made it work” to the best they could, before they had to shit it out on due date.
And even when given more time, there’s STILL a plethora of issues not being fixed.
Scripting this shit should not be that goddamn hard and I strongly stand by that, for this game.
Let me write to all of you, I have been playing since New Generation and I also have almost every piece of collectible for the III series (minus the actual PCB,) and I have been to tournaments in USA and Japan and won some, so that pretty much means I’m an enthusiast and I love the game with all my heart. I have been waiting for a good port of 3S since then, and when I heard this would be “arcade perfect,” I can’t tell you how ecstatic I was…
All for nothing. This is the worst port of any game I have ever played, even worse than Resident Evil 4 on PC (3SO makes that shit look console perfect.)
- Why the fuck did they have to change the interface for something that was supposed to be “arcade perfect”? Couldn’t they just leave everything alone?
- They really thought people want to use those shitty filters? The game is still ahead of the 2D graphics game till this day, and yet they fuck that up.
- Why the fuck is this shit so laggy and glitchy, jesus christ, the arcade game, the DC, MAME does not have ANY glitches!
- I notice the audio on characters voices like Chun Li, Twelve, Ibuki change and become lower pitch, it’s stupid shit.
- Good job getting a nobody to do the remixes, they all sound like generic Trance/Dubstep mixes from SoundCloud nobodies.
- The entire netplay shouldn’t even exist. If I had to complain about this, I’d have to do it in bullet style with more than 10 trees worth of complaints in each category.
- Inputs on characters not many play do not work in certain combos like Elena’s stun combo against Q (3 scratch wheels,) some others
- Can’t remove that disgusting achievement bar which I am positive adds lag to the game online and off
I would have paid up to $60 for a cut and paste version of even the PS2 port with an online mode comparible to SSF4/AE (which works so damn perfect online for me and has the best netplay/online interface,) but they buttered it up and had somebody who doesn’t even play the game represent it who looks like a cock whistle and talks so much god damn shit, and fuck it all up.
To be honest, this game made me quit 3S at home altogether, I just play in the arcade now.
Yeah the filters look pretty awful IMO. Bilinear filtering seems to approximate what a CRT looks like pretty well, I’m surprised they didn’t just use that. Isn’t that an option in the PS2 port? It’s a shame that almost any emulator out there has better filtering options than a game Capcom is charging money for.
So the timing is so weird that some of the combos just don’t happen at all? That sucks if true. 5 Star mentioned this earlier in the topic but didn’t get too specific.
I wanna say I read something on these boards a while back where they tested the input lag on 360 and PS3 and counted it at four frames. Which is presumably what it is in the arcade? Someone correct me if I’m wrong, I read that topic a while back. If all that’s true I’m skeptical on this point. It does have the unfortunate side effect of adding an extra button press at the end of every match as you mash your way through menus describing your achievements that you don’t care about. So whether the achievement bar adds lag or not I think most will agree that it is pretty awful, and ugly to boot.
He was talking about the achievements bar updates added random lag when an event occurs (red parry, special/super, whatever). Which is also true for me, though it rarely happens (or i don’t notice it through the regular lag/frameskip crap…).
This game is unpredictably buggy. One of the funniest bugs is when you rematch someone, right as someone else enters the lobby. It swapped our characters color pallettes… We had a blue zombie dudley, and a awesome gill style two toned urien.

They really managed to make that game look like shit, filters twist the drawings and impoverish them in something they shouldn’t look like, and the scanlines effect turns them into a blurry mess.
But there is a sideway for that. You can get a VGA cable, go to a lower resolution and use a scanlines generator. At least the graphics would look arcade.
Toodles sells “Do it yourself” kits for cheap if you can solder stuff, on this thread. You’d only need a gender changer, if I got it right.
Or if you’re rich,you can buy a SLG3000.
For this annoying useless achievement bar and crisp grey crap that clashes so much with the rest, you can put the game to > Stretched and force 4:3 on your TV.

Ha, and for some reason, my NAT that has always been green just turned permanently red now. I have no idea why.
I play on a CRTV and I actually have to play it with a smoothing filter or it looks terrible for some reason, really, really pixellated. Smoothing looks oddly better. IDK why.
We play it on ours without any filters and I’m pretty happy with it on the tube visually. It’s pixellated for sure but the blurriness of the tv seems to hide it for the most part. Maybe we are just lucky enough to have a really crappy CRT. On the LCD it’s hilariously ugly always. I figure if the filters can possibly cause any lag I’ll just skip them altogether anyway so I think I’ve just gotten used to it out of stubbornness. I hate that it clips the meters. Drives me insane. I rage.
I played a ranked match today, and after the match, the game froze completely. Restart, save file is corrupted, and the game has forgotten all my data. Yay… I had just spent time completing all the trials, and now I am at 0 % again. Also, I am rank 1 with 0 VP etc
I know it doesn’t really matter that much, but I can’t help but to think this is what I get for actually enjoying and supporting this game 
I wish this game was better, so that it could have a much bigger following. I don’t think it is as bad as you say, online is good in my experience. I usually play with the same europeans, and we have green connections to each other. There’s very very rarely any rollbacks. Playing against someone with a yellow connection or worse is fairly awful though.
I have this thing two times, i play on PS3… now, i just don’t give a shit about trials and others useless stuff but i always have my stats online (rank, points etc…).
I’ve yet to see a green connection. I was starting to think they don’t exist, actually! Probably a good part of that is living in Alaska, but I don’t even get a good connection with anyone I’ve seen from Canada.
Anyway, yeah yellow and worse all suck. I was able to have some decent matches on GGPO before, but nothing any good on OE. They changed something in the netcode along the way and made it worse. Reds are pretty ridiculous. Half speed and constant roll back, at least for me. Kind of awful.

hell from fucking nj to cali its only YELLOW and im on comcast cable.
Playing superarcade until thy fix. I can get so many more games on there and its easier to find.
