Fuck it, I’m gonna get ready for the arcade-perfect port of KOF XIII.
You don’t need to be a top player to realize that EX moves sometimes just don’t come out in this game.
There are several possibilities:
- People are using defective sticks. I know that at least on my 360 TE stick the HP button is more sensitive than the rest because when I do EX moves in SFIV training mode it registers as a plink most of the time.
- The input merge window in 3SOE is lower than what it should be
- The game’s input system has a different bug eg. when mapped buttons still cause regular versions of specials. I’ve never tested mapped buttons though
If it were 1, I’m pretty sure most people would have noticed it in other games as well. I’ve never had a problem doing EX moves in any other version of 3S, regardless of the stick I’ve used. It could be a combination of 1 and 2, but if people are saying the moves aren’t coming out with mapped buttons either, then it’s probably 3.
When half or near half of the people are saying they have trouble with EX moves coming out, there is something amiss.
I have no problem with EX so far, same for kara throw. In fact, i think i have a better success rate on Gouki’s teleport or KKZ compared to emul/PS2/arcade/whatever…
There is probably something to fix but it seems quite inconsistent over players.
On a side note, i’d say tight stuffs feel easier on 3SOE: kara dragon, Q double HP dash punch, kara Shinsho, cross under with Gouki, etc…
I’m talking about offline obviously. Online, yes, it happens, as often as any other move attempt fail, half/no startup moves, half screen teleport, etc…
Online, everything is off.
thanks. I felt the same way about difficult or ‘tight’ stuff feeling somehow easier or that you have more time(input wise) or something.
as for the dropped inputs I have no idea really. if you play emu and you’re dropping inputs a lot and don’t on emu it’s definitely in part because your sense of timing is warped. beyond that though there could be some issue I guess but as far as my console, game and stick, there are 0 issues. so I don’t see how it can be the game itself. I play on a CRT also, maybe that’s somehow part of it. no idea.
Its not arcade perfect, its completely rebalanced with new stages and characters.
I have had a problem or two with ex moves that I could attribute to error on my own part but kara throw timing feels WAY off of the arcade timing IMO
Nah, arcade version’s getting rebalanced too.
Mak can dash though all sorts of stuff including ex machine gun blow, ex hayate, chun’s s fp, and it would not surprise me that she can dash under 1 or some of Oro’s pokes (I guess s fwd as it looks like he hops a little)
Oh ok. I guess I’ve just never seen it on the arcade box or in emulation. I mean I’ve seen her dash under things that put people in an aerial state briefly like UOH and such… but I had no idea she could just swap sides with people straight through standing normals. Good to know that’s not a new bug. I believe the move she dashed through was actually standing strong. He doesn’t hop during it and that’s why we were a bit confused but hey… whatever. I have seen her dash through sun-discs so that’s what we thought it was at first. We couldn’t recreate it though after numerous tries. I assume that’s because the timing for the dash through is very tight and only happens on a rare occasion.
But yeah, thanks for that man. Alleviates some of my concerns.
Personally I can’t reproduce it at all, and EX moves come out when I expect them to. I was especially surprised when people said they’d try with macro buttons assigned and it still failed. I haven’t seen that either, and I play on pad so I use them pretty often. This is pretty interesting to me:
That seems like the most promising explanation. It would explain how some people can be having issues which are just unreproducible for other people.
I’m not sure about online, but offline all my EX moves came out just fine. It’s surprising to hear almost half the players on here complaining about no EX moves coming out, even from seasoned players. I was playing on an ASUS monitor with a well-working HRAP on the 360. Like I said though, I’ve only played on it for one night(4-5 hours or so).
Just for the record my experiences are all on the ASUS “evo” monitor on a 360slim using Hori and MadCatz upper end sticks. All offline. Not online.
I admit the “timing window” thing (quoted above) sounds really weak… I’m just relaying our experiences and theories. It’s frustrating. If it’s not real I’m really confused as to why our group of 5-6 players can’t get out EX moves consistently. It seems pretty wrong. Especially considering this was never a problem in any prior versions of the game.
maybe monitors then? although what aku said says otherwise.
im on crt + 360 and dont have these issues. i have played at all hours of the day pretty much without these issues so i can’t see that being it either.
i wouldn’t be surprised if one of the reasons justin, valle and others noticed problems with exes was because they played sf4 for so long. afaik 2K/2P don’t need to be pressed on the same frame in sf4. after a hiatus from 3S, maybe they felt like the stricter timing was the fault of the game. before the old ports, there was no game that had easier ex inputs.
everybody who hates oe just go to an arcade. problem solved.
i think 95% of the people who have problems with OE are the same people who still play on a cab…
aderrrrrr.
IDK i just find it funny that all the people who hate this game, are the same people that have access to arcades that have 3s cabinets and REALLY good offline competition. Also are you guys suprised its not “arcade perfect” its a big company they NEVER deliver to expectations and Derek Neal isn’t much better than a polotician in the sense that he just says what we wanna hear not necessarily the truth. plus it was only 15 bucks, cause in my opinion it could have been waaaaaaayyyyyy worse than it is.
Come at Srk. Come at me.
Offline I have also had no problems with ex’s
I was trying to be nice and not post this shit
Offline is fucking awful and I have played quite a bit of it
It drops inputs, frames, lags and rolls back
Depending on the connection kara throws can be damn near impossible (I have had matches were I literally could not get a single kara throw to come out)
ex’s without macro’s are very questionable and effects gameplay because of it. (eg maks OS karakusa/ex tsurugi generally is done with lk+mk, using the 3k macro makes rh karakusa come out on parry is not fast enough to grab a shoto out of shortx2)
I have also had times I had to go back and watch the replay to figure out what happened because what I saw happen was not possible.
What I saw
I saw multible frames of my cr rh come out and Alex hits me with ddt…
What happened in the replay
I did a karakusa from 3 character lengths away and got hit by ddt… (Well at least I now knew why I got grabbed although I know I only meant to cr rh)
About the EX’s dropping maybe like 2 weeks after I got the game I went into training mode with 3xP mapped and tried to do EX stones with Oro after around like 30 tires it dropped twice. I haven’t been able to duplicate it again so there could be no problem, the problem got patched or the drops can happen at random.Derek did make a post on srk after 3s was released (I think about ex drops n PS3 ver lagging) but he never responded.
