Capcom read this

You would’ve stopped reading after I said that messed up sound effects and a color difference don’t break the game? “Oh.”

I said (and I’m going to put it in bald so my apologies to anyone who isn’t blind but this guy obviously cannot read) DROPPED INPUTS FOR EX MOVES AND MORE MAKE THIS A SHIT PORT.

If that is not game-breaking to you, then you’re technically retarded. I’m sorry but if you’re okay with that, then you have no experience in 3S, you have no idea what you’re doing, and have no say whatsoever in if this is a good port or not. I’m not trying troll you but when someone say’s dropped inputs and in addition to the variety of bugs and missing features doesn’t bother them that’s when they really need to shut the fuck up.

The training dummy not tech rolling and stops blocking after it’s health is drained glitch was in the PS2 port, I can vouch for that. Although technically the dummy “dying” of chip isn’t a bug, just silly.

Also, I’d like to request some sort of basis for these “MAME 3s has input lag” claims because I’ve never felt any. It’s possible that anybody having problems with MAME 3s has just configured the emulator wrong and/or has some sort of ghetto setup with a lagging screen. Course I’m not calling outright bullshit, but I’ve never had any problems with it and consider it still the only really valid way of playing 3s outside a cps3 cab. 3so can pretty much suck my dick, even though I have to play it to get my 3s fix.

So by dropped ex inputs do you mean that you get the regular version of the move rather than the ex version?

I responded to that earlier. Half of the people who responded to the EX dropped inputs topic think the dropped inputs don’t exist. There’s no consensus on that, so no reason to include that until there’s more certainty. I’ve also asked what the “and more” is but you have not listed anything else. I’d be interested in hearing what these other bugs are.

Please remember (as I’ve made clear in every post here) that I’m not defending the port, simply pointing out that it’s probably better than what we had before. If I’m looking to get the most out of my time, I’ll want to play the best port available to me. Even people who are angry about this version have pointed out that it’s closer to arcade than the PS2 port. If there’s some other factors that make that not the case, I’m all ears. You haven’t listed them yet.

Also, I have been polite my entire time here despite our disagreements. I’d appreciate the same from you. I’m not trying to win an argument, I’m trying to learn more about one of my favorite games.

MAME is well-known to add lag on most games it emulates. I can provide links I guess but I’ll have to go searching, and I feel like it’s a pretty non-controversial claim.

dropped inputs due to ggpo or what? that’s standard fare. otherwise your ‘dropped’ inputs are specific to you or you don’t realize how off MAME timing is since that’s apparently all you play.

OE should have been better or it should have been advertised more realistically. It sucks that its not what everyone expected/wanted.

Please though, fuck off if you think emulation is just peachy. It’s total ass. you don’t realize how bad it is because its all you know so you think everything else is wrong. No, you’re wrong and you’re playing the game wrong. its not dropping inputs, you’re just inputting shit wrong because you’re going TOO FAST. how do I know this? because all I had access to was emulation for a long time. then I played the game in its native form and lololooolololol’d to myself at how different it was.

if there are ex problems or whatever it isnt universal.

they missed out on fixing all the original port issues and then created new ones (twelves voice…). it feels very shoddy for that reason. however, the timing feels GOOD even though something about the input window feels different (it feels bigger?).

No, no. People have had trouble doing EX moves offline too. I thought you guys knew that? That was brought up in the glitches thread.

Are you honestly suggesting that if I’m hitting 3P assigned to one button for EX Flash Chop and I somehow get MP Flash that I’m doing the motion too fast? Are you on crack? The inputs for 3S are perfect, there’s no huge negative edge window or ridiculous input shortcuts. It’s very, very easy to get a simple EX QCF move out but when I play 3SOE in training they seem to come out roughly 5-6 times out of 10 as opposed to 10 out of 10. I’ve never had this problem in any version of the game; emulated, PS2, DC, arcade, etc. Never had that problem.

I’ve also had the same problem with Kara-Throws. Alex has probably the easiest kara-throw in the game and somehow I’m not getting it as frequently (like 8 out of 10) as I used to. Now it’s 5 out of 10.

sup, just wanted to add offline and online ex’s miss randomly. i play regularly in arcades, if i didn’t i probably would have attributed it to my home controls.

cool. dont know what is happening but i do not have these problems. therefore it isnt consistent. sucks.

i even just gave you the benefit of the doubt and did about 20 ex flashchops in a row and then 10 f.fierce karas. it isnt the game itself.

second edit: i just did a whole bunch more of both and im really not seeing how this is true.

I just went into training and did nothing but EX moves, both as the PPP/KKK buttons set as one button, and with normal buttons (on a Madcatz fightpad on 360). did it about 50 times, did not get a non-EX once. if this is happening, is it more common with certain characters? I tested with Ryu but I’ll give it a go with someone else if it might matter.

I understand how disappointing 3soe is to all of the hard cores, but this game saved me from 3 years of only having sf4 for my sf competition fix. I can’t overlook that. I didn’t have any expectations for this game and remained skeptical up until I played it online. No it’s not arcade perfect, but the online play is decent and alot better than pc ggpo.

I hope they patch the game and include the smell of body odor, sticks that work about 50% of the time (which they tried to replicate with the ex moves only coming out sometimes I guess), and drug dealers. Now that would be a true so cal 3s experience!

At any rate I <3 this game and it brings a smile to this old man’s face. Thanks Derek Neal!

not really the button mapping kind of guy and i don’t see why i should have to. I can honestly say it’s not THAT big a deal unless you’re a serious player. if you’re playing people who suck or are just not as good as you, it doesn’t matter if you miss an ex 1/5 times or whatever. however if you’re playing a superior player or difficult match up and need every ex to come out, it can be frustrating. what is interesting to me is this does not seem to affect performing throws or uohs, which are also performed pressing two buttons simultaneously. this is strictly an ex issue.

I really believe it is the game itself.

It’s an inconsistent and difficult to repeat error as are all of the reported bugs of the 3sOE port. That’s part of what makes it annoying and wrong.
For example just tonight we ran about 5 or 6 hours worth of matches on an Xbox Slim that had 3sOE on it and it went something like this:

First 20 games or so seemed fine. Then inputs start dropping. Entire moves just stop coming out. UOHs that don’t work and a medium normal comes out instead. EXs getting dropped half the time. One match neither player got a single EX out. These are guys that have been playing for at least 5 years here if not more. These are guys who have played the game on all the consoles and in arcades including CF, UFO, Super, fucking Japan etc… These are not people who don’t know how the game should feel/function.

As we went along things got worse. On multiple occasions a Makoto was able to forward dash straight through an active EX machine gun blow. In another match Makoto was able to dash clean through Oro using a standing normal and he wasn’t even charging or executing a sun disc. We tried to recreate these and couldn’t but it definitely happened multiple times during our session. These things aren’t supposed to happen to the best of my knowledge. I may be wrong so feel free to correct me if Makoto could always dash through certain situations/characters but I thought the only time that occurred in the Arcade version was when both odd hitbox characters dashed at each other. NOT while one was executing a move that would normally stop the dash.

I agree the fact it doesn’t always do it and that it seems to almost be a “time sensitive” thing (like if you start playing on a specific clock cycle you get stuck in a sort of “urban wave of redlights”… but the video game cockblock equivalent) makes this all sound like worthless and paranoid bitching… but c’mon. All any of us wanted was the fucking arcade game ported over for once. They said that’s what they’d do. They obviously didn’t. (Probably because they didn’t know how to code a training mode or something stupid like that so they started with a version that already had it built in… Whatever… random speculation. I’ll stop now.)

Oh one more thing!
Why all the talk about MAME? Isn’t FBA superior to MAME anyway despite running slightly faster? Maybe I’m just behind on my info with emulators.

I disagree.
Aside from the fact that it does effect throws (kara specifically though late techs as well) and UOH, even at “solid mid-level play” it quickly gets to the point where if you miss your EX on a specific big punish you will fail the whole combo. Seriously. I play Oro and Dudley… fucking Oro and Dudley. Both characters are crippled by any dropped EX inputs. Oro has to EX his super (tengu) to get it out for juggles in a combo and it’s already hard enough the way the super cancel window got fucked up in this port without having to worry about the EX input dropping too. Dudley is the same. st.RH to EX.MGB is a huge deal to his punish game. when the EX doesn’t come out you get punished hard. Instead of taking the lead you lose.
It does matter. It matters to anyone beyond entry level in the game. I guess you could call those people “serious” but… I think you are under-stating the problem due to a lack of understanding about what makes the game the game.
This game isn’t THE GAME. It’s another imposter in a long line.

Yeah I think that’s correct. People who recommend an emulator for 3S usually recommend FBA in my experience.

I just reference MAME as in emulation in general. I couldn’t tell you which is better between MAME, FBA, or Nebula (anyone who remembers using Nebula gets a cookie) as they all felt the same to me anyway.

a bit melodramatic? haha. a huge section of my game play is kara throws and turtling while breaking dash throws, in those aspects i haven’t experienced any complications. you should still be able to beat people worse than you missing an ex now and then, well that’s just from my experience. the main point i was trying to make is it’s playable on a casual level, no serious tournaments or matches should ever take place on it as long as the ex glitch exists.

Ah Well… That’s cool. We have two of those already so why not another. It just wasn’t marketed as such and that’s the sentiment in the thread. Why lie about it? It’s stupid. They could have just said they were doing the best “port” ever. That would have been the truth and still pretty exciting. Instead they chose the words arcade perfect and I doubt if proven wrong they’d refund everybody the money OR fix the game. So we sit in a thread and I suppose we just bitch to no one in general for a while and eventually give up.

But yeah I see what you mean now. To people who don’t care and who weren’t marketed directly to during the whole promotional phase of the game, this is a great version. Hope they enjoy it. For me? I’ll still play it until I can manage better I suppose… But it’s going to continually irritate me that they aren’t fixing it (or can’t). That’s just the way it’ll be for a while I guess. Occasionally I’m sure I’ll stumble into some hole on the web and complain about it a little. I think that’s what this thing is these days… The internet.

I suppose the key is your concern seems to be with “beating people worse than you” when mine is generally just playing the game in a moment. The win is great and usually means you played better than the other guy but I’m more concerned with learning how to play the game as “well” as possible and I enjoy that. It’s a fun thing to chase. These issues upset that greatly.

reading through these posts i’m starting to understand the anger a bit more. i wasn’t around for all the promises, and i suppose my view is distorted since i can play online, say “well fuck it i lost to a missed ex” and go to the arcade a lose to yi in person. not everyone has that luxury. carry on!

I’ve had this problem happen to me on 3soe a fair few times. Not on pc though, quite odd.
