Capcom read this

I doubt any port of any arcade game is arcade perfect unless the architecture or hardware matches exactly, and even then most of the time things get scrapped from the console port. The Tekken games have been arcade perfect in game play up to 6, except the 360 version has some kind of problems I’ve understood, that’s why it’s not used too often in tournaments. Before 6 the only differances were pretty much graphical, if you don’t count the slightly nerfed card system from 5 and DR, which was removed entirely from console 6. Other small things missing from 6 is the music being slightly different in some stages, announcer doesn’t announce chickens or Jack’s lever spin, a few customization items missing, that kind of small stuff that doesn’t really matter anything, just like the slighty shittier graphics from 1-3. SF4 also isn’t exactly arcade perfect, in vanilla SF4 the Drive-In at Night stage was much longer in lenght than on consoles and I think the camera was zoomed out a little bit more, for example, but again, nitpicking. The real differance between arcade and console is that the PS3 version apparently has some input lag when compared to PC and 360.

Anyway, the point here is that when porting stuff from a vastly different platform like CPS2 or PC to consoles like PS3 or 2, there’s going to be problems. Problems that can be worked around with either straight up emulation, or reprogramming and “shortcuts” Most companies, such as Capcom, use the reprogramming and shortcuts method which usually results in shit, such as PS2 3s or any ST port. However, when companies do use the emulation method, it still kinda results in shit like CCC2 ST, but it stinks a little bit less. The problem is that when using the questionably better way of emulation, the retards-that-be have to apparently forcibly make their own emulators instead of licesing something that works fine, like MAME, and there, I belive, lies the problem in the issue of why can’t we have proper ports of arcade games. Big commercial companies don’t want to waste money when doing these “fan favor” small projects like porting old arcade games to newer platforms, they just work together something that sort of works for the minimum cost possible, slap that $14,99 on it and call it a day, example 3SO.

This has been my 2¢.

Right. I think we all understand there are a load of different reasons (money being the primary) that go into why these things blow as hard as they do.
I think the primary thought running through the thread isn’t “How did this happen?” so much as it is "How could they promise something they couldn’t deliver?!"
I mean it’s completely understandable and expected that a port like this would come out this way… but they promised over and over before it was done that it wouldn’t… and then it did.
That’s all. It’s just frustration with the boy who cried wolf game getting doubled over yet again. We thought the cry sounded really genuine and honest this time and I swear there were really wolf noises and everything and it fucking wasn’t… there fucking wasn’t.

so basically just play in the arcade if you have one near you or wait until an arcade game comes out that uses the same architecture as consoles… :frowning:

They are phasing out things developed for exclusively arcade architecture. That’s why SFIV runs the way it does as do most things on Taito TypeX (BlazBlue etc). Common development platform that can be easily dropped into Xbox and PC/Arcade machines alike as it’s developed in a Windows XP “Visual Studio” based environment.

Personally I think it’s possible to get a level of arcade emulation (of any old machine) that is close enough that a human can’t tell the difference. I think they just don’t want to spend the resources on it. Basically what yomi was saying. It’s possible… just not profitable. Sad but true.

Sucks terribly, but I may end up doing the same thing. I was so fucking hype for this game, it was ridiculous. After playing it for a while and giving Capcom the benefit of the doubt, I ended up taking a break from 3SO for a little over a month out of frustration. Came back today just to play it on my new TV and to download the recent patches, and the game is the same pile of hot garbage. Now I just feel apathetic about the whole ordeal.

I may keep my 360 so I can play KOFXIII and see how it is, but until I can actually afford my own H2H 3S cabinet, I’m pretty much done with this game…

Such a fucking let down.

WOOHOOO!
thank god im in that .000001%!

Hey guys lets move to Austin.

Alpha Anthology was completely arcade perfect, and had tons of features (sans World Tour). Man, maybe that team should have worked on OE…

Can I hitch a ride? 3s>College.

Hmm, I totally forgot about AA, even though I own that game and bought it when it came out. But you’re right, it is pretty much perfect, the exception to the rule.

Almost all Sega Saturn ports of Capcom fighters were arcade perfect.

I might add that many ST players have played on GGPO and have been cool with playing it through emulation…

DSP excluded.

Just want to add: The last console I had was the N64 and I was so pissed that so few good horror or FPS games came for that system. Way too many kiddie 3D platforming games. And me being so pissed with the N64 is what got me interested in PC games and all the great FPS on there, so from that point on I was a PC gamer. I did buy a Wii when it came out but it had the same problems as the N64, very few good games, and addition to gimmicky motion control tacked on plus tons of shovel-ware. I owned it for about a week or two and then sold it right off and got the full $250 back because the Wii was hot at the time.

I did buy a PS3 specifically for 3S and KOF13 and as I type this it just sits there gathering dust. I haven’t plugged it in for over a week. I’m not even much a gamer these days, I still prefer PC (FPS on console are horrible and most FPS’s are too dumbed down today). But I’m hoping that KOF13 will justify the purchase for the PS3 otherwise I’m selling it.

I think at this point DSP can be excluded from all competetive fighting game discussion until he proves otherwise.
PS: N64 is one of the best consoles ever for one reason Ocarina of Time.

See, I hated Zelda, never got into that series. I tried to play it and I was like 'I don’t like playing as a little kid, give me a real sword and blood." I also hate Goldeneye. It doesn’t even come close to FPS like Blood, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom 1 & 2, etc.

I agree about Goldeneye but Zelda is probably my favorite game series ever November 20th lets GOOOOO!

Apparently capcom doesn’t think its in their best interest to have a perfect console port available outside of purchasing a cab.

watch cosmo speed run OoT in 2 hours and 45 minutes, thaTs true art

I liked OoT and recommend checking out Okami (PS2) if you can find it or hope it shows up on PSN’s PS2 game collection in the future. IMO it’s better than OoT.

Ok fellas ya theres lots of great ps2 games but if you dont have something bad to say about oe plz say nothing at all

does this fuckin game have input display in training mode yet???
