Capcom Power Stick Fighter

mine has the ls-40 (or wannabe?)

Thread ress FTW!
Finished mine this week!

that’s awesome

i took out the 360 PCB out of mine, but i plan to revive it as a Wii only stick (or Wii/PS2 Stick)

Show some inside pics!

I’m probably going to start working on mine at some point. I think replacing that LS-40 knock off will be too much work, so I’ll just replace the spring and call it a day. How hard is it to enlarge the button holes, and do snap or screw in 24mm fit?

Debating on putting a MC or axisadapter inside, since the owner will only be using it on his PS3. I could either cutthe original PCB or get a breadboard to replace he start/select buttons. Decisions…

Looks great!

Work log, step-by-step can be found here:
Projeto “Capcom Power Stick Fighter” - Fórum Versus
It’s in portuguese but the pictures can explain the steps by itself.

Thanks for the link. Never thought about keeping the board in but removing the microswithces for the old buttons. That way I can still use the start/select buttons.

How did you cut the old microswitches out of the pcb?

Nice!

With a drill and LOTs of patience

out of curiosity: why didn’t you just desolder the stock buttons from the PCB and then fold the new button terminals sideways? That’s what I did and it fits fine, i figure that would have saved you a lot of time too…

Interesting idea, either the drill (or dremel and cutting bit) or desolder and run the wires that way. I guess I’ll see once I get the buttons fitted in the first place

:bgrin: Also, I don’t think you can do this with threaded? Might not be as low-profile as the snappy ones.

Hey guys, I was recently able to acquire one of these sticks in a garage sale. I’m glad I have a wealth of knowledge to tap into here.

My problem has to do with the stick itself, I was disappointed when I opened it up and what I was stuck with wasn’t the JLW, but the unbranded. I purchased the JLW thinking I could drop it in, but it doesn’t seem to fit. I much as I love firing up my dremel I thought I would ask if it would be at all possible for one of you to give me some pics of their JLW stick assembly, preferably the base. I imagine it probably is different, but either way I’d like to know what I need to do to get this thing in here. Thanks a bunch!

dunno how the unbranded seimitsu works but the JLW (with the MUCH softer spring) screws to the bottom of the case, through the gate.

Well look at that. totally different! Gave me a really good idea what I’m up against here. Now I know what I can cut away and what I need to leave in place. Thanks a bunch for the assistance Threi, I really appreciate it.

@Bigboss

Not sure if you’ll be able to cut away the mounting structure to accomodate the JLW, as it seems certain versions use the JLW mount and others use the LS-40. Sounds like you have the LS-40 mount so you should be able to drop a branded LS-40 (harder spring) in there without any problems, feels much more solid than the stock stick.

Do you have the MD or SNES version of this stick?

You know what? That may be the deciding factor in telling whether or not you have a JLW or a LS40 in there. Mine definitely was the SNES version and has the LS40 knockoff.

I did find that a JLW spring will fit in that knockoff LS40 just fine. Tightens up things quite nicely

Hi guys, a week ago I got the idea to do what you guys did and I bought a Capcom Stick. I plan to use a fist gen Playstation controller (No Analog) and hook it up PCB to PCB with the stick. I’m going into this blindly and I’m going to use as much info as I can make sense of in this thread. Do you guys have any tips?

I’m actually picking the JLW model from a store friday for ten bucks. I Love on how the thread comes back just in time. the details are very helpful. thanks everybody.

you should use the thread tools to watch the thread.
