Capcom Going Broke, only $152 mill in the bank

looks like a lot of people in here don’t know the difference between trying something new and expanding upon something that already exist. expanding and rehashing is not the same thing either.

A lot of games like MMX, Alpha 2, MvsC2, CvS2, DMC, and RE: Outbreak would have never been successful or even have a cult following without that mindset.

And people keep forgetting that Onimusha is literally RE in Feudal Japan with RE gameplay in mind.

Once people along with Capcom finally remember those facts, then they’ll just be half way back to where they once were.

Well DMC was just RECV with swords. Even though the RE engine gets a bad rap, (especially from the new generation of kids that know nothing about tank controls) it helped make video games an art

They are all absurd requests. However, in the case of Power Stone, I am fairly surprised that they haven’t sold the rights to it. Capcom hasn’t even been using the characters anymore for cameos as far as I am aware. It wouldn’t net them much money, but selling the rights to games that have cult followings might help out a little.

Dead Rising 3 should do well for them

I heard through the grapevine that Dead Rising 3 isnt even 30 fps. It runs at like 15 fps most of the time.

Yep, digital foundry said Dead Rising runs around 20FPS at all times.

Microsoft helped Capcom develop DR3 too, they threw down their own money.

 Good luck with the future, Xbone.

Fuuuck. That’s fucking sad. I think the other games ran around 30FPS at nearly all times, right?

DR3 news pisses me off. It was one of two Xbone games I gave a shit about.

Games that run at 30 FPS are gross enough already… but 15-20? Gdamn.

Why the fuck do you guys expect 30fps from a water cooler?

lol watercooler lol high expectation lol :coffee:

Capcom brougth this to it self by missing lots of opportunites like by not continuing the Dino criss serise and by screwing fans over by runing the DMC , Resident evil , Dino Criss i remmber the good ol days of ps1and ps2 when capcom was at its peak when resident evil, dino criss , DMC was its prime i used to really enjoy these games but now its shame after at least 10 years they are going bankrupt well this what happnes when you ignore your loyal fans base demands and only care about the money and only make undesriable crappy unorignal games YOU MADE YOUR BED CAPCOM now sleep on it

There’s a lot of good stuff in your post but I wanted to point out the bolded. There is enough of it in the Japanese scene too actually, but the key is as you stated the indie market. I’m going to be using the general “you” in the rest of my post so don’t think I’m making assumptions on you personally.

There is really no excuse if you really like a type of game and want more of it to not head out to kickstarter and fund a project and also interact with the devs. My brother does that all the time, he likes space games so he’s constantly in contact with those scenes. They’re not the mega budget games like GTA V but they’re certainly good enough for what the fans of those games want.

I like JRPGs and story driven games, there are a lot of those too if you look. Just finished playing a quirky JRPG a week ago that someone did a translation patch for, that’s happened quite often with VNs as well if you’re into that scene.

The point is if you want something now you have the ability to go find it. And if it doesn’t exist yet? Maybe you can kickstarter it yourself and get a few friends together and make that game in your garage, the way a lot of these creative games were made before EAWare and other companies showed up and created a mechanical formula they’d pump out to maximize their profits with as little outlay as they could. The mainstream fans like a certain game production and that’s what the big companies give out, DLCs and all.

But generally as people get older they move off the mainstream. Some move off it when they’re really young. Do you listen to Justin Bieber and drink Miller Lite or Corona? Then yeah, you do those things and it’s the same with games, you’ll just take whatever has the most advertising and the “buzz” around it, and if you don’t actually enjoy it, it’s on you for not breaking out of that mold.

Bethesda is a pretty big company and I tend to like their games, and they generally make good money. But Bethesda is also very consumer friendly because that’s the model they look to push, a lot of mod support and generally a high emphasis on quality. Capcom and EA aren’t either of those, but people want to support them but then whine afterwards, and that’s something I don’t get. No Miller Lite is not the only beer you can drink, Justin Bieber is not the only singer, don’t just whine, look for something else! They make the most money, but you as the consumer why does it matter to you how much or how others make that money? Do what is best for you and that you enjoy, this is even moreso for things like entertainment. Don’t waste your energy telling other people what to enjoy, use your energy to find what you enjoy and then engage in that.

As a practical matter, I pretty much ignore anything by EA, Ubisoft and Capcom, because I think they are garbage companies and hate DLC. Bethesda does put out DLC but I actually enjoy their stuff, and they seem to actually add it on afterwards (plus the DLCs always get used by modders, so you get so much for your money).

Why are people still talking about this? Capcom themselves debunked this rumor on their forums along time ago.

@Serp I should’ve said “not necessarily or exclusively Japanese games” because Japan devs are making moves in the indie and especially mobile space. And instead of a Kobe circus shot, it’s more like a Shaq slam dunk (low risk, almost guaranteed, maybe not very clever or memorable) in a high stakes, win-or-die situation.

erm…im not too sure about that.

I mean during cyber Monday most games were on sale except for Capcom games.
Capcom games are the very last games you see ever really going on sale.

and just because a company “debunks” or refutes something said in the media about said company doesn’t mean their spin is true.
for example.
Gamespot refutes ad sponsorship affects game reviews on their website.

I mean, gamespot cant be real in actually having the audacity to try to deny that advertisers influence game review scores on game sites by making a vid denouncing the very notion let alone the reality that that’s exactly what transpires all the time.

yeah, coz gamespot is gonna come out and admit the truth that ad sponsorship=good reviews=blatant lack of ethics, conflicts of interests, and good ol fashion corruption.
yeah ok.
who are they trying to fool?
they cant be for real.
