Capcom Going Broke, only $152 mill in the bank

to me it seems like they were just being sell outs, appealing most to the bro gamer. Those guys are like “ya bro Cod and GTA is the best video game series ever bro.” When they should have been appealing to their fans, they pretty much dont give a fuck about their fans, if they did we would have seen a super ghouls n ghost on PS3 and Xbox 360, same with Megaman and Megaman X, BOF. They think appealing a over all every gamer is ok, but you should not forget about the people got you to were you are at, and not give them the middle finger

This is off topic for the thread, but hey, is TTT2 good even for someone who didn’t like T6?

On topic, what will happen if Capcom does in fact go out of business? I mean for real? How much will their fall hurt the gaming industry? People talk like it’ll be the beginning of a big crash for the gaming industry, but I don’t really see it. Could someone explain the effect to me, if there is one?

I think they might get bought out, or merge with other company. I dont think they will be gone forever

Still too early to say with certainty they’re going to die. They can find investors and stuff to stick around for another year, minimum.

If they do, I’m assuming they’ll go the THQ route. They’ll sell off each individual IP.

Naw I think it’s the whole silent majority thing. There are fanboys for a lot of things, and in games and a few other areas many of them are actually paid shills. Whether paid or not, they are absolutely obnoxious and don’t represent any rational majority. They are the bottom of the barrel of society and as such they have learned to excel at ignoring reality and browbeating everyone else. They’ve given up actually having friends or anything like that, they’re there to just push their agenda or their own biases and that’s it.

On internet forums and other outlets that they can be vocal in, they will drive everyone else off and reign supreme with their viewpoints.

The only thing is…they’re still actually the minority. The silent majority might not actually know that they are the majority, but the majority won’t actually believe the minority or do what they tell people to do. You can trick the majority into making a mistake in the first place, but it’s hard to force them to keep doubling down on it. I’ve seen a pizza parable on that before on these forums, and it works with the DLCs too. Eventually word spreads or more of the majority just ignores the vocal minority, and the results rear their heads.

Game execs love the vocal minority and think they don’t need the majority. Obviously that fails.

A lot of these big game companies are just going to disappear. Video games are a very poor business model because they aren’t an assembly line product, no matter what these guys want to think video games are not mere widgets. You can’t use business principles on art. If you could, most artists wouldn’t have died broke.

Have them merge with comcept. And keep the comcept name. Only that name.

LOL Inafune can do no wrong lol.

Universe was a shitty game.
Legends 3 didn’t really have enough of team to even get going.
Same as said with Gaist Crusher.
Megaman X Prime wasn’t a Megaman game.

Don’t forget as soon as he got promoted he cancelled fighting game division and merged teams. Many people quit founded their own companies and doing better than Capcom.

That company name doesn’t sound like anything we’ve heard of. Inafune’s MP hunting game on Vita doesn’t look like anything we’ve heard of. His mascot action game doesn’t look like anything we’re familiar with. No indication of Inafune acting butthurt at all. Two hot new titles coming soon from Comcept, Pavement Brawler and Lucifer’s Probably Sad.

Forget about Inafune. He doesn’t work at Capcom anymore… Someone throw out some ideas to get Capcom out of the doghouse.

Like I said before two quick and easy fixes are

  1. Issue a public apology for all the trolling and fanbase insulting they’ve done.

  2. Hire Platinum Games to work on a REAL Devil May Cry game and finish the gatdamn Viewtiful Joe trilogy.

BAM! Capcom just sold millions of games right there.

I never said Inafune can do no wrong, I just said you’re wrong about Inafune cancelling the Megaman games. Also, how can you say Universe was shitty when it NEVER came out or had a playable build? How can you even say the concept of a Little Big Planet Megaman game could be bad? It looked fantastic, I have no idea what you’re talking about. As far as Legends 3 is concerned, it doesn’t matter how big the dev team was, they were doing just fine. They were pumping out a lot of content and everyone who got to play the demo said it was amazing. Who cares if a handful of people are working on it when they are doing great work?

Capcom probably has some of the most incompetent management for a corporation their size on Earth. They need to develop proper sequels for their hit franchises, not constantly reinvent the wheel for no particular reason or waste money on mediocre games nobody asked for.

While I don’t believe that Capcom has every been guilty of trolling a fanbase per say, I do think an apology to the fans for blaming stuff on them would go a long way. That said, Capcom of Japan is probably far too proud to even consider that.

I also wonder how well new games for their beloved franchises would turn out, considering that a lot of their key talent has moved on to other companies. Let’s use Megaman and Inafune, for example. Some of the games that were made without Inafune’s involvement were pretty bad, like Megaman X6. On the other hand, Command Mission and Network Transmission were pretty great in their own right.

Not guilty of trolling fans? Were you not there for UMVC3’s stage that trolled Megaman fans and the Zero DLC costume that was X? Were you not there for SFxT having fat 80s era box art Megaman? All of those were pretty big trolls.

Capcom also insulted DMC fans by making DmC (a game no DMC fan asked to be made) and promptly shit on said fans when they said they didn’t like what they saw.

Capcom really has no one else but themselves to blame for their predicament. Piss off your fans and consumers and they’re not going to buy your shit. Plain and simple.

The only one out of those three “troll” attempts I would legitimately call trolling is the Bad Box Art megaman. I don’t see how the Days of Future Past and Megaman X costume would be considered trolling though.

Ask Preppy.

Welll, it’s the idea that they are taunting the request for a megaman appearance with a zero costume.

I can’t say I wanted zero at all. I absolutely hate zero, like he is 100 percent refuse. with the exception of his megaman zero incarnation.

Personally i don’t like X either because he’s a bitch. but Zero doesn’t take precedent over Megaman. Zero is the extra, he should be a costume for megaman.

days of future past, well I don’t really have any issue with that except there was no form of megaman present in game. So I can see how people were like, 'oh come on!"

Capcom is trolling,People have asked for megaman before Vanilla MVC3 came out and they’re excuse for not including him was because they couldnt think of a moveset for him…come on

or Zero and frankwest having an X dlc costume and a QUOTE “if X were here he would’ve talked things out,Too bad hes not here” - Zero

I wouldn’t call any of those legitimate trolls, it was just an example of fans not getting what they wanted. Zero’s X costume was almost a given, and the Days of Future Past thing was just really mistimed Even the SFxT BBA Megaman was planted by Inafune himself, and was the victim of bad timing over anything else.

The issue is that Capcom doesn’t care at all what the consumers want. In the case of both Megaman and DMC, Capcom does the *exact opposite * of what the fans want (cancelling MML3 and making DmC), and proceeds to blame the very fans that they didn’t listen to. Capcom is seriously going to have to overhaul their mentality if they want any chance of recovery.

So Capcom has a big sale on Steam right now.

That is a very, very bad thing.

Yes indeed. Their arrogance will be their downfall. Thinking their popular game will sell with just a Capcom name despite critique.

Do they even listen to much critique?
