Capcom Fighting Jam impressions

I request an update aswell on Leo/Felicia/Urien. Thanks!

how about rose???
is she any good?? same as a2?? a3??

Felicia seems to be decidedly the lowest of the DS crew.

She’s not exactly bad - she’s quite fast. However, she just doesn’t have the keep-away options and flexibility that the other DS characters have. I think that puts her at a real disadvantage against characters like Ryu and Guile. Possibly Zangief, too. Also, her supers might kinda not be so good? Demitri has a variety of potentially useful supers, and Jedah does, too (although I think his down down PP super is probably the one you really want to try to connect with). Felicia has a ā€˜tasukete!’ super that, if blocked, leaves her in stun for like three whole seconds. In case you want to punish with a charge super, or something.

More Mukuro/Kenji info. What are his special moves/supers??

Hey… anyone know if this is in any arcades in southern cali?

i dont know about move properties wise but power and play style wise id say she’s back to her a2 self from what ive played.

@box mukuro:

qcf+P = ninja knife
dp+K = teleport (light you land behind, heavy you drop from the sky)
hcb+P = pause then dash big slash, seems to either be an overhead or unblockable, covers like 2/3 of the screen but takes forever to come out. not found a use for it yet.
qcf+Px2 = knife super (a whole bunch like a straight slow beam)
MP+MK = level up
qcf+Kx2 = fire column super (after levelled up once)
qcb+Px2 = sam sho death slash type slash super (gotta have levelled up twice)
qcb+K = ryu style (one hit knockdown) spinning kick

he also has a dash move (sorta like a high speed version of basara’s image fake out move) where two fake versions jump out, one high angle, one mid angle and muk runs forward.

super arcade in walnut. it’s right across the street from mt sac.

heh… how far away is walnut from long beach =P

It’s right near cal poly, where Evo was held. I also heard that family fun will be getting it within a week or so.

SFZ2 strength. I’m sure there were some notes on her earlier. It appears that Karin and Sakura are the best out of the SFZ chars, though. The SFZ chars are closer together in ranking than the other series(Warzards gap in ranking between Mukuro and Hauser comes to mind, or Jedah/Demitri > Anakaris/Felicia). In fact, the SF serieseseses have their chars grouped together in usefulness. All the SF2 chars can compete(Gief is actually the weakest of the 4, as he has less options against them, particularly a well grounded Guile), all the SF3 chars work because of parrying and the occasional EX special, SFZ chars work because their meter builds fast…

As for the Warzard chars, they, IMHO, are only good when you have built meter, so they can use their system to the fullest. I don’t know if they get a damage/defense bonus on top of the invul and healing on a Level Up break. If they get something on top of gaining their 2nd/3rd super, then that’s great, and their role will be cemented as clutch chars to seal that needed victory.

DS chars are hurt by the 3 meter limit, and the damage scaling on them. They HAVE to ensure they have the upper hand at all times, as every missed attack has a possibility of making them lose 33.3% of their life without eating a super, and about 75% if they do.

Just so you know, I got those damage percents by performing 3 straight HP SPDs on any DS char, they DIE on the 3rd. It doesn’t look like they will at first, since the game hangs for a split second(damage calculation, I think) before awarding Gief the win. Any SF2 super can do a minimum of 50% on any DS char.

So…For all you Gief lovers out there, stand tall, because the system is in your favor, you’d have to play a PERFECT DS player in order to not have the opportunity to win. And even then, if you know what you’re doing, you can still make them hurt.

And ALWAYS taunt after a successful sac SPD. Fuck positioning, fuck getting back in, they got in on you and fucked up. You deserve it.

Hell, I think it’s time to change my sig. I’m tired of being a rebel, especially since I haven’t touched KoF2k3 in about 3 months…

Totally agree with the post above.

ryu is still beastin. if this keeps up he’s gonna claim top top tier :frowning: you can get around him with a good gief, guile ā€œmightā€ work (he cant take him down like he does in sf2) or maybe some jedah…

his new spin kick is crazy good, almost too much. i couldnt land a c.LK on him after he landed from it with sakura?!? managed to get one with ingrid though. has a huge hit box, does good damage, is great for positioning after knock down (especially on warzard wake up rolls and the like…).

ryu is my vote for best character at this ā€œearlyā€ point.

yagami, kane, saotome?

Co-sign. Ryu’s too fucking good. I dunno what they were smoking in the beta tests when they allowed Ryu’s FBs to have Sonic Boom recovery. I can’t even Lariat his hands anymore! Backfist isn’t even good enough to cover my ass from a quick sweep…

But, then again, Gief can get beasted on by the rest of the SF2 chars, Grounded Guile especially. Ryu at least ACTS like he works for his wins, Guile can spam c.MK, and Gief can’t do a DAMN THING. Between that and the godly FK, it’s like playing WW Guile in HSF right now, except I have no O.Sagat to counter the ghey with even more ghey. >/

I finally understand why c.FP XX Fireball no longer works, it’s not because of the fireball, it’s because FP doesn’t stun as long anymore… Ryu can shoot FBs at sweep range all day, and if you attempt to jump on reaction, you’ll get hit, so that shows that those bitches are still fast…

Quick Question - If you switch characters in between rounds, does your new character retain all of their Super meter? Example, you use a Alpha character, use them to charge up the meter and then switch to a SFII character and have a full bar? If so, any alterations? Like a full Alpha Meter = Half SFII meter since someone mentioned that Alpha bars charge up fast.

Full meter in any system = full bar in any system. The only bars that get inaccurate representation are those with full size but multiple levels, since takes almost as long for a SF3 char to fill ONE of their two bars as a SFZ char to fill theirs. DS is the worst for meter management, they’re best off either being the primary user of bar for the match, or the battery, not using bar at all. They do make decent batteries, provided you can keep them guessing so you can get hits, because you gain shit for meter off blocked attacks, and it takes FOREVER to get Lv 3 in their system. If they have a great overall game(Jedah), then you won’t need to touch that bar AT ALL. Others like Anakaris need that bar to save their butchered asses.

The only bars that you can easily gauge the differences on are Ingrid’s, SF2, and SFZ because they do NOT wrap over.

The best combinations to date are DS/SF2, SFZ/SF2, SF2/SF2, and SFZ/WZ.

Hey, I just wanna say thanks to Saotome, beelzebubble, Rokiseph, and everyone else for providing all the good info. :karate: I’m gonna have fun with this game.

I refuse to believe that Hauzer is that bad. But then again, I don’t swear by tier lists, and I’m still gonna use him anyway. Can he be crossed up? Can anyone jump over him (while he’s standing still)? If the answer is ā€˜no’ to both questions, then… well, isn’t that a good thing? He isn’t a good zoner?

ive been worked by hauzer, he might actually be good against anyone who isnt super fast, cant jump really high or doesnt have long pokes. he’s got a good aa, great long distance jumping game, 3/4 screen pokes and is deceptively fast. he’s quite hard to master it seems so it will take a while for him to reach potential unlike ryu and company.

yeah he can be crossed up.

Hauser isn’t bad, just like how Anakaris isn’t bad. You just need to find his strengths, like Beelzehas already pointed out.

Maybe a little bias here but…

I still think 3s characters >>> Ryu. From what i’ve seen u cant really FB trap the 3s cast, esp Alex and Urien who seem to have the perfect jump height to fight Ryu.(think low but enough to get over FB’s with ease) Otherwise yes, RYU IS A BEAST. Damage+FB recovery is too good as you and Saotome have pointed out. As for best character in game, he is probably tied with Guile IMHO.

Hauzer info: Sadly for him, moves that normally DONT cross up, DO on his fat ass. You can do jump up+fwd with Chun, press Hp on the way up and hit, cross over, press hp again and hit his his tail(?) on the way down. LAME.

Yun info: the second hit of his airchain can be delayed all the way until he reaches the ground. Only practical use so far is for Hauzer pressure. >_<

wow. i didn’t think of meter management combos, in order to make an effective team. :pleased:
