This thread is pretty fun, especially now that we’re actually starting to come to some kind of consensus… which amazes me
Feat wise Shuma kinda sucks.
Street Fighters are definitely superhuman.
They can be blown up, set on fire, shot or stabbed multiple times before being KO’d…not killed. Not to mention that, until they are KO’d, these attacks that are fatal to normal humans don’t even slow them down or weaken them in any way. Street Fighters are essentially immortal.
Many of them have powers such as beam attacks, temporary invincibility, superhuman speed, teleportation, create clones of themselves etc.
I would rank them all ahead of say Zero because, while he shows a similar ability to absorb lethal attacks, he has a fatal weakness to spikes and pit traps. Also, when he absorbs enough attacks he eventually dies instead of being KO’d. While he can die multiple times, it is still a finite number.
The only Street Fighter I can think of that ever died was Charlie and that was at the hands of dictator M. Bison (definitely an S Tier Canon Street Fighter) through some mysterious method.
One thing you have to consider when making the Capcom tier list, is that Ryu is the main character. As a result, he would have access to levels of Deus Ex Machina that bad guys or supporting characters don’t have. The same applies to Dante.
The sheer fact that he puts the fear of God in Dr. Strange should be enough.
Aside from that, him coming back from inside the mind of the Ancient One, virtually from his thoughts. He actually defeated Strange in this battle as he had to kill the Ancient One to deny Shuma entry while still not being able to stop him as he came back sooner than later.
Created a voodoo doll of Earth that was pretty much the real thing while making Strange hurt every other mystic on Earth by trying to protect it.
Strange, while having Shuma absorbed, destroyed entire galaxies from the excess energy being released from his body.
Simply retarded when you think about it.
what’s ‘feat wise’ mean in this case? Things he’s done?
Because if Shuma Gorath ever won, marvel would have to start over from scratch.
Some food for thought:
Here Ken is hit with 4 grenades and is only knocked out and shows no visible damage.
Since the Canonical Tier list is related to the Marvel Power Grid, I thought this would be an appropriate time to change the subject towards discussing the MVC3 power grid. As we all know, those stats are way past f’d up, especially on the Capcom side. So let’s see if we can all come up with an agreeable Power grid stat for each character instead of the mess that MVC3 has now.
Note: I will be rating Stamina to the equivalent of Durability, since the in-game stat for Stamina matches up with the official Durability stat listed for the Marvel characters.
MODOK In game power grid.
[details=Spoiler]Intelligence: 6
**Strength: **1
Speed: 1
Stamina: 1
Energy Projection: 6
Fighting Ability: 1[/details]
Just from these stats, it’s pretty obvious that Capcom’s ranking MODOK without his Doomsday chair. Why would they do that? That’s like ranking Tony Starks without his Iron Man armor.
MODOK’s actual power grid according to me.
[details=Spoiler]Strength: At least 4. He has retractable arms in his chair that can easily lift 1-ton heavy machinery. The official Marvel stats have his strength listed as 5, but I haven’t actually seen him capable of such feats of strengths yet, at least not with the Doomsday Chair.
Speed: At least 5. His chair can break through the atmosphere if he wanted to.
Stamina: Varies. Sometimes his armored chair doesn’t get phased by conventional firearms. Sometimes it does. In game, it may be between 3 and 5.
The in-game intelligence, energy projection, and fighting ability are accurate.[/details]
Chun-li’s in-game power grid
[details=Spoiler]Intelligence: 5
**Strength: **3
Speed: 7
Stamina: 4
Energy Projection: 5
Fighting Ability: 6[/details]
Yeesh. About the only stat I would actually agree with is Strength. She the strongest woman in the world for a reason.
Chun-li’s actual power grid according to me
[details=Spoiler]
**Intelligence: **At most 3. She’s apt in many things, from playing the violin, being a martial artist, and a sharp shooter. This is the marking of a flexible mind, but nothing suggests she is able to design robots or make a medical breakthrough, which is what a 5 in intelligence would mark.
**Strength: **3. The only stat I agree with.
**Speed: **2. 3 at best, if we ever see what kind of mileage those tree-trunk legs can pull off.
Stamina: 2. Definitely 2. Every form of media portrays Chun-li as having a glass jaw, getting knocked out with the first major hit she takes in a fight. While those animated movies or anime series are definitely not in any way canon, they do show a repeated theme with Chun-li as being fragile.
**Energy Projection: **3. Kikoushou is a pretty good indication that she can’t project an outward ki for too long.
**Fighting Ability: **5. She’s an expert martial artist and a damn good cop.[/details]
From what I read he didn’t destroy entire galaxies but could possibly. Dormammu on the other has fought Eternity the embodiment of reality more than once. That Trumps possibly destroying a galaxy, for a Lord of chaos shuma sucks. Line up dorms feats to Shumas and shuma is laughable. Dr Strange did call Dormammu his most dreaded foe.
Shuma doesn’t appear much. But when Shuma appears, dimensions start warping and falling apart. Dormmy is even weary of facing Shuma.
Yet he faced Eternity? Where’s this stated?
Xesaie’s post sums Shuma up quite nicely.
Shuma HAD earth and just did the human sacrifice thing then he was beat by some dude. Dormammu is who strange worries about the most because Shuma is a jobber. If Shuma is so powerful then he is even more stupid, Dormammu has actually had is plans come to fruition, in fact it’s his OWN curse that keeps him from taking over this dimension. Think about that, Dormammus own power is all that keeps him from taking shit over.
Shuma was banished by Crom. Not even killed. Just sealed away.
Dr. Strange has came and gone from the Dark Dimension so many times that it isn’t funny anymore. He even fucked Dorm’s niece while there. Dorm isn’t as powerful as you think he is. At least not in this lifetime.
Strange has been to the Chaos Dimension how many times? Once. That was enough. And any being that can fart, and that fart destroys galaxies, is one that most likely fuck up reality in the worst possible way.
Shuma is like strange in a way, in that he’s just too strong to use regularly.
Dorm is more like Doom, he does goofy things and wants a clean win, so he screws himself (ala the Super Villain team-up where Doom conquered the world and then freed magneto so he’d have something to do, which of course made him lose it all).
Shuma just infests the universe and its all over. From wiki, I guess he was referenced in the whole Cancerverse thing (in an incantation)… although its not clear how he’s related, thats the kind of shit that happens when he gets involved.
The power grid in game for the Marvel characters **is **their official grid. Here’s MODOK http://marvel.com/characters/bio/1010726/modok. Blue is Official, red is Fan.
Not buying it, dude gets sealed by Croms books, teleported to other dimensions by strange, doesn’t sound all powerful to me. Shit he couldn’t even stop Conan, why didn’t he just obliterate everything instead? He doesn’t get much time in the books because he has no real personality and is fail as a creation.
Here is the difference between Shuma and Everyone else on the list. He is an Abstract, One of the Ancient ones or Many Angled ones depending on who you ask in marvel. The Cancerverse Was Ingested by The many angled ones and the ancient ones. Basically it is a universe that exists inside of them (Shuma included) hell the description of the cancerverse is “[SIZE=4]The Cancerverse is a twisted, organic mass of unimaginable size which bears resemblance to a cancerous tumor with suction-cup covered tentacles and circular “mouths” that are literally overflowing with razor-sharp teeth.” Sound familiar? Theres a pic of it if you google it where the entire cancerverse actually looks like Shuma Gorath. Within Dormammus Dimension he is Capable of destroying anything seeing as he can draw on the energies from within that realm. Outside of it he is immensely powerful but marvels writers have never really shown him at his full power levels. The only character who poses any threat to either of them honestly is Galactus and thats only if they are not within their own realm.[/SIZE]
Well, Dorm can’t even keep a grip on the Dark Dimension half the time, so that says something about him. Umar *and *Clea both have deposed him at various times and I think some random asshole did too (if very powerful random asshole).
Your other point is good though, if Shuma wins you get Cancerverse, if Dormammu wins you get the time when S’ym (or was it Belasco?) merged Limbo with Earth, which of course got reversed. You can fight back and overthrow Dormammu, even if he merges your realm with the DD.
I personally think the top 4 could all deal with Galactus pretty easily. The trick is that those guys know the consequences of doing so and refrain
I commend you on your plight. You have the stench of arrogance that can only be rivaled by SRK itself.
But this is pretty much a dead end. Shuma truly would be too powerful if written unbiased and unbridled.
Noone is too powerful in a work of fiction. Many characters are introduced that seem to powerful at first. The bad guys job is TOO job.
Just hope Shuma doesn’t get a chance to lose again anytime soon so you can continue your wank. As is, he’s disposed in the same fashion
as Dormammu, sealed, banished, or leeched of power.
However, before Crom sealed his ass only thing Shuma did was ask for bloody sacrifices and tribal wars…shouldn’t he have just farted and destroyed reality?
