Canonical Tier List

Ghost rider seems to me to be one of those guys tho’… where people (Marvel) say he’s almighty, but when you actually get down to what he can do, its really not that impressive. It’s like ‘take our word for it!!’

Also, the HASJ list overestimates hulk, and underestimates Dormammu.

Also also, the magic people in comics are kind of annoyingly dumb. They have infinite ways of dealing with people, but their choice always seems to be ‘basic energy blast that never works!’

He is one of those guys who kicks ass in his solo but constantly jobs outside of it due to his power level.

That’s how it is for most magic people in general. Shame really. Whenever a writer wants to put a magic guy on a team, they go with the mentality of “hey, if I write myself in a corner, I can use him to get me out of it,” but outside of that, guy’s stuck in the background making the other members of the team look good.

  1. Killed Bison in 1 hit.

  2. When does Ryu beat Akuma? And we’re talking about third strike, since it’s the latest in the canon. At that point Ken admits Ryu is better than him, so it doesn’t matter if he can beat him in alpha wtf.

  3. And?

  4. And?

  5. Sagat let Dan win so that he wouldn’t go down the vengeance path like he did.

what was your point again?

You don’t even have a real rebuttal. Stop.

Don’t wanna be mean, but at this point I can’t tell if you’re just trying to get people’s goats, or really really hate Street Fighter. Lotsa energy there.

Clearly, Marvel handles its powerlevels, jobbing and sandbagging much more skillfully than Capco- pfftHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I’m just saying that SF’s story is ridiculously fucked up…but I’m on a unbelievably pro SF site so that would immediately come under fire. When you have that much faith in something that is largely unproven, such as the fighting skills of most of the SF cast outside of gameplay, then I have to challenge that.

And I don’t hate SF, but I do call it out on bullshit. Marvel has it’s vast amount of bullshit, but it has the reputations of beloved characters who actually make money INDIVIDUALLY to uphold so it’s not uncommon to see Captain America beating heroes and villains that, on paper, he would have lost to.

Shish, not wanting to make this personal, and of course I’d say this, but I really don’t have a beef in this either way.

With that in mind, you can see why you constantly crapping all over the SF chars power levels might look a little… partisan.

Why even bother? The only part that makes sense is Sagat letting Dan beat him. Street Fighter is completely absurd Akuma is always “holding back,” Gen has had cancer or something for 10 years and seems to be doing just fine there’s an immortal guy with yellow skin who rides on passenger jets, Yun and Yang jumped through a time warp. Akuma is stronger than Ryu (maybe equal by 3S, does it matter?), Ryu is stronger than Chun- Li, C. Viper is weaker than Chun-Li. Zero is stronger than all of them because he’s a goddamn (although fully sentient) robot meant to fight, Dante is a half-demon who lets himself be impaled for fun. Not even going to talk about Amaterasu and Morrigan.

I don’t know where people can even start with Marvel. That’s absurd. Too many writers, too much history, retcons and all that.

heh, you start with Shuma-Gorath. And end with the Raccoon.

Normal-ass human Chris over Jill with chest gem? Jill, who’s sporting virus immunity/compatibility and a performance enhancer in a theme where those things make you basically godlike? Really?

Have you seen Chris’s arms? And what he did to that boulder when it looked at him funny? He clearly is no “normal-ass” human.

It may, but keep in mind where this conversation is taking place. We already knew this would devolve into X vs X solely based on the location.

It’s like talking to a little terrorist country about America and expecting to not have to defend something or point out/attack something that you find unjust or hypocritical. Both sides are seriously fucked up but one side isn’t even trying to take baby steps to make any sense of the madness. As a level headed, socially aware American, you acknowledge things are pretty fucked up in America but try to explain to that other country that they are just as, if not more, fucked up than we are. The other country just flat out refuses to admit that anything is wrong with themselves and place the entire brunt of the bullshit on your shoulders. SF fans are that little terrorist country sometimes.

Comic book characters are written, for the most part, with a lot of thought put into the scenarios. When a character wins, 99% of the time, there’s a in-story reason behind it.
Not to say that I like it all the time (Namor should have ripped Wolverine in half in my opinion), or that it can’t be flat out WRONG (Superman beating Thor the way he did), but if that’s how the story needs to play out, then so be it.

For all we know, Captain America could have some alien kung fu maneuver just waiting for the right scenario, which in this case is a fight with someone like Akuma, who needs to be taught some humility.

And just so people know, Plot Armor refers to a character not dying in canon when all of the necessary ingredients are present at every waking moment, claiming the lives of many who are “above” the ones who the “armor” surrounds.

Morrigan is probably stronger than Ammy. From what I remember, Ammy is the embodiment of the actual spirit (?). Morrigan, after DS3, is apparently at full force (i.e. the other 2 pieces have merged with her).
Frank West and Phoenix over Tron = ? Tron is a genius with a battle mech and an army of Servbots.
Jill on paper should be better than Chris, but since she’s controlled Chris has the upper hand mentally.
Felicia is a level 3 DS, capable of tanking nuclear bombs and defeating entire armies. She should be higher than all of the Street Fighter characters, save for Akuma (maybe). Same applies for Hsien-Ko.
Happy that you recognize VJ’s and Zero’s abilties.
Strider has super speed and a sword that can cut through anything, along with being a master tactician and a host of other battle-ready abilties. He’s above Street Fighter characters, but below Zero (who is essentially a much improved Strider).
Its much easier to compare the respective sides than to combine both together.

Amaterasu is Amaterasu, not an embodiment of a spirit. At max power, she’s untouchable. For example, she was immune to time stop when everything around her was frozen. Plus, everyone is discounting her ability to slow down time, control the sun and moon and instantaneously call up any elemental force at will. I doubt Morrigan is immune to everything Ammy has.

Hell, there were two Ammy’s at the same place and time and it didn’t cause a tear in the time-space continuum.

Also, what’s this bullshit about “cosmic-beings”? “God” is as high as you go.

Shuma-Gorath, Dormammu, Thor, Ammy = Gods.
Dr. Strange, Morrigan, Phoenix, Dante = Godlike but not Gods.

for the record C.Viper would BODY chun li

I know this is your personal list, but I believe Phoenix Wright should always be dead last.

Now for Marvel’s turn…
She-Hulk is about 79-85% of Hulk as far abilities go. She should be much higher.
Super Skrull has all of the Fantastic Four abilities, but suped up. He should be higher as well.
Phoenix should be higher than Hulk.
Dorm and Thor are higher than GR
Spiderman could be a Sentinel, in fact Sentinel is probably only better than Hawkeye, and thats even questionable.
Is Raccoon City suppose to be RR?
The thing about Doom is that you have to count his prepare ability since its associated with him, but doing so makes him extremely powerful.
Shuma is on top, good.
More to come
