The only Summers brother that is stronger than Nova is Vulcan who can manipulate all energy. So he would pawn 99% of all universes. Seriously. EVERYBODY is free to Vulcan except for a minority.
I’m a little sad Shuma is only 3rd on this list…his very existence theaters/brings about the end of the universe. So…why isn’t he higher? I’d say he’s at least 2, if not top. No one can “beat” him. Hell, even Logan could beat Phoenix. She shouldn’t be on top.
I think people are belittling Iron Fist by saying he’s on the same level as Spider Man.
I’d say he’s probably the best martial artist in the entire Marvel Universe, even above captain in hand to hand combat.
I mean, he ripped the heart out of Shou-Lao with his bare fists before he even had any powers (Shou-Lao’s powers are listed as “God like dragon powers” on the Marvel wiki)
So, he defeated an almost invisible god (he even has “The Undying” as part of his title… Shou-Lao the Undying)
He flew head on as fast as he could straight into a very high speed train that was filled with enough explosives to “make Hiroshima look like a sparkler” and didn’t seem to give a single fuck.
He can get inside of peoples minds and control their emotions, heal others and himself.
I mean, this dude is an extreme badass, and would crush Spider Man any day. Hell, I’d say he could even beat Hulk pretty easily considering he could just get into his mind and calm him down. But I’d put him at the same power level as Hulk (disregarding World War Hulk…)

Actually in the latest issue of New Avengers, Wolverine and Iron Fist had a sparring match for practice, (no claws, no iron fist), and it was Wolverine who came out on top. Although, I guess it was only a practice match and they weren’t going all out.
Iron Fist has beaten him before when both were actually trying to hurt eachother:

And Iron Fist managed punch through Colossus… so I’d imagine he could knock out Wolverine

Also he’s specifically the best fighter in their universe as far as skill goes. He’s a master of all (well officially ‘virtually all’) martial arts.

Also I thought Nova had peaked and was back down the charts again on power. For a while he was All of the Nova Corps, and then for a while he had quantum bands, but now he’s a bit lower, right?

Nova can’t use the full Nova Force unless he is Phalanxed out which then he was said to be stronger than Silver Surfer.

Street Fighter people need to stop. The characters are unproven in a world beyond Street Fighter canon-wise which is still FUBAR’d. They will not be respected or feared without some semblance of a story from Capcom AND whomever they are going against. We can do smoke and mirrors all day, but Marvel takes initiative when telling/showing you about the uppermost limits of characters. Outside of the Gotetsu gang, barring Dan, the characters backgrounds are muddy as hell and we can only speculate their level of power.
Even though they are still unproven and may remain that way forever, The Gotetsu gang(Sans Dan), canon-wise, may be the only characters worthy of fighting any super powered beings, even though from what I can tell, the fights won’t last that long.
But those other guys…They are regular ass niggas until proven otherwise.
Think of the fan stuff as more of a wikipedia entry. Sure, it’s not directly written up by the people writing and editing the story, but it’s not like they’re completely makin’ stuff up. Plus it’s peer reviewed, so most of the mistakes get caught and fixed. I personally use Comic Vine’s wiki entries on characters when I don’t feel like reading the actual source itself. That said, I always typically read through the comic sources more often then not. As far as official ratings and stats on the characters that’s given with legitimate detail, your best bet is to look through the various “Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe” encyclopedias that they put out from time to time.
I don’t think the power grid is wrong per se. They just haven’t been updated to after Annihilation. They are listing Nova’s power levels prior to him becoming the sole bearer of the Nova Corps powers. In fact, the levels actually match those on the Marvel Cards series 3 released back way back in the 90s.
Comicvine is where to go. Has the best set of powers usually and the staff usually keep the wiki in lined.
But without him being Phalanxed out, he would be above Mags/Storm but below Thor and such.
Since he could kill himself or go nuts if use the full Nova Force.
Heh, to be honest, that’s way more work than I’m willing to take for the benefit of this thread, if you guys are I’m more than willing to bow to you guys superior knowledge. The ‘universe wiki’ is supposed to be the online version of the official hanbook I think though.
I should admit Nova is a bit of a weak spot. For whatever reason, when I saw him announced for UMvC, I took a great disliking to him, which didn’t exist before. I think its 'cuz I can’t imagine him NOT being dull in execution, compared to the other characters coming out.
Ha ha, yeah I guess that would be doin’ somethin’. It’s all good. I’m just really into comics and the meta that surrounds it so it’s like second nature to me, but I understand where you’re comin’ from. Nova in particular is like top three of my favorite characters so I was real excited when he was announced. If they make him a fairly technical guy to play as with some interesting mix ups, I’ll be satisfied. My worst fear is if they just make him like some watered down Mageto or Iron Man because canon-wise, he’s anything but. With what they’ve shown so far though, I’m sure they’ll come up with something unique for him.
I just wish Marvel’s online service was a bit better, heh. Not quite willing to just torrent comics, and entirely unwilling to buy them on paper, kind of leaves you in a bad spot when they like to leave out key issues.
