Canonical Tier List

LOL, old cartoon. But Magneto can control bodies. Writers just don’t like doing it. Well, Magneto did use the iron in people’s blood to kick there ass during a Legacy arc. He was like a kung fu master.

Doom beat the beyonder. Just throwing that out there. NO ONE DEFEATS DOOM. Except Squirrel Girl.

As far as Magneto goes, as long as he’s in good physical shape, he can essentially control all most of energy and forces, and manipulate any matter on the subatomic level, magnetism just comes easiest to him. He’s also capable of enhancing himself to super human levels of speed, durability and strength, and really isn’t any slouch in the unarmed combat area either.

Non EM extensions of his powers are one of those ‘stupid writing excesses’ that should be ignored, like mind-control through regulating blood and forming orbs of pure iron out of thin air. Just like anything in WWhulk should be ignored.

Do you even know what EM is? Normal magnetism is called ferromagnetism. That is manipulation of metal which was all I was doing. EM is electromagnetism. That refers to manipulation of EVERY force in the universe. Gravity, energy wavelengths, all are cause by electromagnetism. Why do you think an electromagnet is stronger than a metal magnet?

The problem with ranking Marvel characters is they ALL have retarded amounts of plot armor depending on who’s name is on the cover. Shit, Skrull’s beaten the living shit out of Thor before for like 8 pages, then Thor remembers it’s a Thor comic and goes from almost dead to beating Skrull in like 2 panels.

Poor Skrull gets his ass beat by plot armor pretty much every time he shows up outside of the Annihilation series.

Wolverine honestly makes no sense to me. In CW he gets his entire body incinerated, with all that’s left being his adamantium skeleton, then still recovers, but in another comic he tells Spiderman he could be killed if he hits him a certain way. Then in the old Marvel comics he pretty much got his ass handed to him by everyone and everything.

Also, in the Uncanny X-men annual #003 Arkon comes to earth looking to use Thor’s power to revive their dying planet (their equivalent of the sun is dying and needs enough power to be recharged). Upon discovering that Thor wasn’t there, he was informed that Storm was the only other person with the kind of power they needed and so he goes to try and kidnap her for the job. Basically, according to that one, Storm and Thor’s power is pretty close.

Basically, Marvel characters’ strengths is so dependent on plot armor that categorizing anyone outside of the obvious (Dormamu, Strange and Shuma) is an exercise in futility.
Plot armor is the greatest of all superpowers.

Well my 2 examples are things that just involve normal magnetism which are also obviously stupid and should be ignored as ‘the writer was doing acid’. On your other point, currently there isn’t an accepted unified field theory, let alone a ‘theory of everything’. To do a lot of the more crazy things Mags has done in the comics (not counting the metal spheres out of thin air example) he’d have to have an insane understanding of physics and perception of reality far beyond anything we can really comprehend… and except for the occasional weird powers, he shows no understanding at that level.

I was really using Magneto though to try to set a standard of what we should ignore. “You can make a vague scientific argument that he could do it” which is usually the case for the weirder mag powers is dead out.

From, we just have to be smart about ignoring obvious plot armor crap. No Wolvie regenerating from 1 drop of blood (there would be millions of him around by now), no Magneto Gravity powers, etc. etc. It's pretty clear that the "Black Panther puts SS in an arm-bar until he taps out" is stupid, so it should just be ignored.

Just the electricity power which would of killed Storm off. Her weakness is her body only can do so much before it passes out. Difference between upper Alpha and Omega. Omegas can do whatever the fuck they want to. Where upper Alphas have to realize there limits.

EDIT: Magneto does have an understanding of several sciences though. And again, I have not TOUCHED the much weirder stuff. Just him using FM. Electromagnetism is accepted as one of the forces of the universe. What creates the energy spectrum.

Yeah, that was kinda my point, actually…

It’s all about who holds the pen.

Indeed. I mean, one of the most OP characters in Marvel’s universe who has proven to have 10-0 match-ups almost across the board has no truly unique abilities other than the ability to talk to squirrels.

Indeed, Magneto, Doom, Skrull and Galactus exist solely to get defeated by much weaker heroes through ingeniuity. Sometimes against one another.

The best way to put villains into tiers is to see who’s beaten by the most stupid method.

That’s WWH right? Auto-ignore.

Also Smart Hulk is clearly not who we’re dealing with in MvC.

Err… next panel please.

That’s what I’ve heard. Then again, there are lots of contradictions and fannon flying around about Darkstalkers, it’s hard to tell what’s official.

You guys forget that strange himself has mentioned many times that he fears Shuma far more than Dormammu.
Also of note is that Strange knows he would never be able to KILL shuma, just temporarily weaken him and put him back in his own dimension, or cause him to go into hibernation to regenerate his existance.

Should be:

Shuma
Dormammu
Strange
Phoenix

I would say phoenix is probably stronger than strange at any given time, but there were specific instances where Strange went through the roof (i.e. absorbed some of shumas powers). Instances like that, Strange would defeat phoenix I believe.

Maybe she would go berserk and become mindless, maybe it’s what you said. Different sources say different things. Probably the way it was translated. Or, like Jiggly said, fanon. I like to think of it as your way, but then again, who knows until we get a new game. Some sources just say Mei-Ling simply regulates her power, implying what you said kinda.

EDIT: Strider’d

trying to canonically half of the marvel characters in this game is pretty pointless because there are so many instances of plot armor

Well yeah isn’t that close to what her MVC3 profile says?

Yep. So I guess we’ll go with that, being the most recent version.

anything posted from WWH should ne ignored that was one of the biggest showings of plot armour I’ve ever read , and i read Batman books

actually strongest fundamental force is Strong force / Color force not Electromagnetism in particle physics on a subatomic scale.
