Can this get it's own sub-forum? Toshinden returns for Wii!

i played the original for PS1, back when it first came out. I always played with the chick with the daggers, Ellis I think. would be neat to play it again, maybe worth a rental

They made 5 of these games? Really? REALLY?!?

I’ve played Toshinden before. What the hell is this?

The last toshiden game I played was made by tiger electronics

promising for wii owners like myself…but right now I’m a little worried about the controls…I mean, a controller pad and 4 face buttons might be the best alternative to default controls.

A slew of new pics. Holy shit is this mega fail. Some ideas should stay just that. Ideas.

You loli-wanking fags are going to love this garbage while not even knowing what Toshinden ever was.

This game is called “Toshinden” for the same reason Spirits Within was called “Final Fantasy.” It’s just a brand name slapped on so stupid people will dash to a product that has nothing to do with said name and developers can be fuck-lazy and cash in on Japanese archetypes that jerk-offs love.

We’ll never see Eiji and Kayin ever again. Fuck you, Japan.

EDIT: By the way, I like how right below all of that metrosexual garbage there’s a hot link for Eating Disorder Support.

Too early to say, but since Tamsoft have nothing to do with this game this time, it will be unlikely that the original characters will be in.

Since Dream Factory is developing the game, this might be interesting. I’ll definitely check it out.

Can I buy it in a GIGANTIC original PS1 jewel case, because I need something bigger than a VHS tape to hold my game discs.

PS1 OG post.

The posts in that thread are lulz.

Aye yo this shit looks lame. Where is Sho? Gaia? I won’t even touch this mess.

The new pictures make me want to kick someone down a flight of stairs.

They certainly look 100x better than the early pictures… They made every 3D artist and animator on earth shudder in agony. I mean, straw problem on the legs, seriously? I’m extremely glad they fixed that.

As for not being Toshinden-y enough, yeah that’s sad. I grew up with it too. But really, does anyone think that IP held any recognition or relevance today? Being both old AND generally considered decent at best, I can understand the redesign.

@WINBACK - Eiji was generic as fuck
Duke is where it’s at!

Actually, Toshinden was mostly generic in character design back then (take of those rose-tinted nostalgia glasses), and it still is boring in this redesign. imo.

The question is how well will it play?

Actually, the new screens look quite a ways better. They could still do with some improvement, but I’m liking the character models. They look pretty slick actually.

Sophie was pretty cool.

I think the kicker is that if it doesn’t resemble the original at all why bother using the name of toshiden? Might as well call it something else.

Hell, most of the wii’s fanbase is kids that don’t even know what Toshiden is, so it cannot even be considered for old times sake.

This.

The only difference is Toshiden doesn’t have the popularity or fan-drive that Final fantasy entails so it makes it even more questionable why they’re using the brand name.

so how did namco tales series end up in toshinden?

Yeah, that’s true. But I still think a lot of people know “of” Toshinden, but have never actually played them or remember them very well.

And yes, Sophia was hot. Great music too.

(It was even better in the GB version btw)

Actually, I don’t care about them redesigning the characters or the gameplay or any of that… But for fucks sake, KEEP THE MUSIC

ninja-edit… The GB version is how I remember Toshinden best actually, lol. Just listen to that chip tune of Dukes theme!

No, it’s not.

Slick as in lubed-up alchemy RPG anime kid graphic engine.

Gameplay and graphic-engines don’t justify genre rape. You’re all queerfaces. I’ll bet you liked Castlevania: Judgement (a.k.a. belts and tit-lolis).

Toshinden 2 music goes up against any SNK Arrange sountrack. Having said that, I’d rather see Toshinden become a Guitar Hero offshoot than a queered-out redone fighting series that only appeals to weaboo deushbags and Wii babies. Besides, we’ve already got enough doujin fighters for silly shit like this.

Toshinden was pretty queer to begin with:

(this must be some sort of translation mishap?)

And non-GB… Character art:

I don’t think it’s the prettyboy-ness, but the style that you dislike. Old Toshinden was so extremely 90s anime in style. Which is very different from todays style. And that is of course a valid opinion, to prefer the older style. But don’t say it wasn’t gay looking

Oh, and Uranus was one of Toshindens best character designs too imo.
