Who listens to game reviewers? Apparently not many since the series sells like hot cakes.
I’m not defending it…just saying a game with such massive revenue can’t be getting all that much hate. In anycase, you can’t satisfy everyone - I guess in that case we should make threads like this for every fighting game alive.
This thread is dumb. There is no genuine hate. Only butthurt sore losing scrubs. And idiots who don’t know shit about the game. There are very few who have learned how to play and totally dislike it.
And anyone who doesnt like it, fine. But this thread is full of ill-informed bullshit.
This is the best thread in the world. I love how people talk about unseeable lows leading to 50%. Who? the hell has every had a lot like that in Tekken history? The closest thing in 5.0 Devil Jin’s Hellsweep which has to be hit at point blank range, is launcher punishable, SS able, and it comes out WD in which iWS+2 is your only good mix up option. Though Devil Jin is by far the best character in DR if you can manage the incredibly stick timing combo it’s 42%.
People talk about safe launchers leading to 65%? Who? Low tier Hwoarang with JFSR is the closest thing. He can’t break 60% though no way. Not without a wall. And JFSR isn’t even 100% safe.
Scrubs will be scrubs. Complaining abou safe launchers like there are so many. Who the hell espeically in BR has a safe launcher that was slow as hell that actually launches crouchers? Nobody. No character has it. It doesn’t exist. The only way a launcher is safe is that it
A.) Doesn’t launch crouch (like a crouching mid punch in SF that can only be used as punishment or if you run into it)
B.) Is too slow so it can only be done if you lock them down and make them absolutely not want to attack AND duck.
But not, it’s every launcher is safe, every low is unseeable and leads to 50%, launchers=65%.
Tekken is the #1 fighting game in Japan, Korea, and come October America so guess what, if all of these people think Tekken is so good and you think it’s ass. Maybe there is something you’re not getting.
Also Tekken is by far one of the hardest games to get really good at. If it was so easy where’s all the 2D players coming and getting that easy money? So many ignorant people here on SRK. I’ve never hated on a fighting game before in my life before I sat down and actually understood the game. That just proves you’re a scrub if you think so.
Fuck it, I got tired of reading the thread and didn’t feel like quoting more shit.
To be honest I’m not a fan of 3D fighting games in general, they just don’t suite my style. Although I did take Tekken seriously at one point when I actively had accounts on tekkenzaibatsu.com and 1up.com. I subscribed to EGM and read 1up actively as well and was always surprised at the complete ignorance of the staff. It’s sad that non fighting game players look at EGM and 1up as the go to place for fighting game knowledge, since the staff acts like they actually know shit. I got into a pretty big argument with the staff before on the 1up forums, and I owned them pretty badly, but magically that thread no longer exists.
Ok that’s just funny as hell. I didn’t get it at first, lol.
EWGF hits high and doesn’t track, if you know anything about Tekken you would understand how it’s punishable.
I used to think like that when I didn’t know shit about(which was when I was like 9 playing T3), but after getting competent I realized how stupidly easy it is to beat button mashing chreddy’s. And for some reason I don’t think you’re good at VF. Just call it a hunch, but if you can’t beat a button mashing chreddy, I doubt you can comprehend the stupid execution requirements in VF.
WTF??? 2D and 3D fighting games are basically two different sub-genres.
Most games have safe combo starters, and juggles do about the same amount of damage as combos in other games. I think your problem is that you don’t like the amount of time it takes to complete a juggle, which makes it feel like juggles are the whole purpose of the game. Also you have to visually react to three possible throws to break them, which honestly takes a lot of school. In SF you break a throw the same way no matter the situation, so I’m not understanding your complaint.
I already went over the chreddy situation, and when has Paul ever been top in a Tekken game?
Ignorance must be bliss huh?
Basically any character with a DP-esque move can low poke>DP>FADC>Ultra. Fuck even characters without DP’s can do low poke into ultra like Rog and Rufus.
Yeah, its mostly Defensive Turtling Scrubs who hate games like Tekken and KOF, they can’t stand getting rushed down and not to mention Tekken doesn’t have Fireball fights.
Also you can get away with not knowing frames in Street Fighter up to a very high level of play. For Tekken, you wont even win a single match in a tournament unless you know an ass ton of frame data.
Also Tekken isn’t much of a rush down game. If you play aggressive you run the risk of getting bitch slapped bad. Especially with the changes made to lots of characters +frame moves in BR. Few characters can legit press offense and rush down.
If it’s close enough to combo into dp then it’s not a poke.
Rocket punching fools all day. And using your head as a melee weapon. I’ll be trying her out too.
At the cost of meter or the game has a combobreaker(or the game is called MvC2).
Not really. I don’t care about long juggles in 2D fighters because once you’ve done it, you likely don’t have the resources to do an other one right after.
I don’t like those kind of throws in 2D fighters either but they have chip damage so it isn’t as much a deal for me.
tekken can be really frustrating to newcomers. you have to deal with all kind of bullshit like grabs, low sweeps into half life juggle, hi/lo crush etc… but if you can get pass that stage the game is pretty sweet. the action is fast and furious with insane graphic.
Paul was actually in the top tier in Tekken 2 in most tier lists. He was an absolute beast in that game. However, in every other Tekken game, he’s consistently been a mid-tier character.
Landing an ultra vs landing a move that launches or trips (T5 examples: DJ, Anna, Raven) into half life is hardly a good comparison. Have you played Tekken seriously? Juggles are not hard for the most part. Some are, most are easy as shit. Maybe it’s because I played Duk in 5.0/5.1/DR, but I never found it hard to juggle to walls and play that 50/50 wakeup game. I also never felt like I deserved props, nor did anyone else who did an easy ass juggle in front of me. It’s not like people are gasping and shit when someone does a juggle. Juggles happen constantly, nothing special.
Button mashing is an excuse made by bad players or when describing Marvel. I actually agree with this point you’re making.
Mishimas have always been retarded (Until BR anyway). Wave dashing DJ in T5:DR was fucking stupid and if you say otherwise, you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. Instant ws2/EWGF/Hellsweeps which all lead into 50% at least for days. Shit was dumb. Not 5.0 Steve Dumb, but dumb. At least EWGF isn’t mid anymore like it used to be.
I play 2D, I play 3D when my friends want to play it. I’m a 2D fighting game player for the most part. 3D games are not button mashing at high levels, nor are 2D. If you lose to button mashing in any game, you are bad and you can save your opinion for your scrub ass friends. They are merely different styles of game play and guess what, this is a 2D fighting game forum. What a shock that most people dislike the game.
Ignorant on who’s part? Mine or yours? We all know that the large majority of Rufus’s ultra setups come from launchers, but what did that honestly even have to do with my point? I was just stating that he also had a low poke into ultra (aka c.MKxxtornado~ultra).
