Well she isn’t broken by any means, but she is very good. Cammy can play safe without attracting a lot of focus attacks. Her dive kick is still good, but it’s best to use her ex version. Every character has weaknesses though, but I would say she is very well rounded and her strengths more than make up for it.
They only way to play Cammy safely is by sticking to raw footsies and having solid reactions. Having a solid footsie game with any member of the cast is nowhere near “easy.” Let alone for Cammy.
I play a few other characters like Juri and Rufus even Ibuki and Sagat pretty scarcely and none of them have combos that if you mess the links up you’re eating a punish in the same way as a blocked spiral arrow. Blocked spiral arrows = worst punish. I mess up my plink with Juri, I still make my combos safe. I mess my plink up with Rufus, galatic tornado is still safe on block. ect… I mess my plink up with Cammy- FULL punish.
It is somewhat unique to Cammy. And yes to maximize Cammy you need some of the most match up knowledge in the game as learning cannon strike set ups looks like a never ending pursuit.
Can you play with easier combos? Yes. Can you not get so tricky with cannon strike? Yes. But then you’re not maximizing Cammy.
Sit down. I ignored him because his reply wasn’t a rebuttal and because he seemed like the trolling argumentative type. And I recently joined SRK to improve my Cammy game by conversing with Cammy players. Arguing with lames won’t help me at all. .
There are some characters that can mess up combos and still be relatively safe. Many characters have combo enders like shoryuken, tatsumaki, or other long recovery risky moves. The good thing about sprial arrows is they put you in a great position to do more pressure. Chaining the combo is the easier part, the tougher part would be doing the links. Really good players shouldn’t be missing Spiral Arrow THAT often.
Evil Ryu for instance has a nasty 1 frame link with his axe kick that can be easily missed and leaves you open. Viper ends many of her combos with burn kick and those are focus bait.
Of course for all characters, the easier combos are not going to do as much damage or have advantageous setups. To play a character at the top level you will have to learn all of the matchup specific data that’s out there. Even then a decent or lower level Cammy will do far better than starting with say… Viper or Evil Ryu, or Gen for that matter. Dhalsim, etc.
That’s how most characters play safer. The point is that she is still easier to use overall than many characters in the game.
I don’t hate Cammy but she’s no fun to play against. She’s not near as brainless as Seth, Viper, or Akuma though so I don’t think that’s a fair comparison.
Online, her cannonspike bs is really hard to deal with, it’s still good but not near as annoying offline.

every character needs to space themselves properly, specials, normals what have you. This is how the game, and really all games, work. There isn’t some magic character that just gets to throw stuff out for free, not at actual competitive level.

What are you even talking about? How is pointing something out bitching about it? I didn’t say I hated the character or anything of the sort. My point was that she is very very good, something people try to deny by saying she has some insane learning curve or is impossible to use.
I don’t hate the character, I use her myself.
Daigo is one of the best known players but I have a hard time with the idea that he’s the indisputed number 1. It’s not like using a higher tier character is an instant victory so that is really just a strawman.
All characters require proper spacing, all characters have moves which leave them unsafe, and all characters need knowledge to play at the top level. That’s pretty much always been the case.
I want to avoid this thread, but seeing how active it is it is very hard. So I’m just going to say a few things.
I see a lot of people who do not browse this forum. If you are new to Cammy and want to learn, welcome! For the others, who post in this thread to shit on Cammy, just leave. We all have opinions on what character is “easy” or “cheap”, you aren’t going to convince anyone here. No one here is open to discussion, they just wish to force there beliefs on others. It’s pointless bickering and I’m not really sure what kind of enjoyment anyone would be getting out of it. If you want to post something along the lines of “I really hate Cammys dive kick mixup, what can I do against it with _______” then fine, I’ll try my best to help you. Even your own character specific forum might have some more information on how to deal with it (and probably better advice than me). But coming here to tell Cammy players how ‘easy’ their character is has to be the most pointless waste of time and isn’t going to benefit anyone. There are other places you can go and express yourself, but this forum is for learning. If you aren’t open for discussion then don’t bother posting.
The original post was about why people hate Cammy. Seeing as how I hate Cammy, I figured it would be informational for me to explain why. So I did. I’m not trolling the boards looking for opportunities to call Cammy players scrubs, I expressed my opinion when someone basically asked for it.
People tell me they hate Seth all the time, I don’t take it personally.

Seth and Viper are the two most hated. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that they are newer characters and have different designs. Akuma for instance nobody ever really says much about. I think it is because he’s been around a long time and he’s a long time boss character so people expect him to be strong.
But that big naked guy and “SNK chick”, “Screw them!!!”
Might just be a hunch though.
Constructive feedback is fine. Not everyone comes under the banner of mindless agression. I’m happy when people tell me why they hate the character. It gives me more to build on, EG what people find frustrating to deal with, and if they ask for it I can give them feedback on what I feel beats me when I’m playing Cammy so they can deal with situations better. I encourage people to give feedback which can develop discussion that improves both parties. But I hope you see where I’m coming from when I see posts in this thread just stating Cammy is this and that without any real point or actual validation.

If you hate cammy you got to be gay or just stupid in general, i mean when i see her face i just cant say no to her only girl in street fighter that is actually attractive i main cammy since i bought this game and i can say that she is the hardest character to learn in the game. i played gouken,oni,ryu/ken,yun,sakura in ranked games and they are so much easier to learn just takes 8 or 7 trials completed and i pretty much understand these characters . Top tier on my list would be C.Viper , Seth,Akuma,Ryu imo they are the most powerful in this game i have no problems winning even games against these characters but they are extremely boring to play against because their damage is sky high i dont care if people dont agree with me or if they hate cammy because i love her. She is the only character i went up to 19 win streak in a row
