Cammy Hatred

sakura does have everything  juyst block or you’re probably dead. I dont see any bitching about her… probabky because when you play with good players they understandbthe defensive power of doing nothing

if youre bitching about cammy and you think shes overpowered may I suggest doing something other than hammering on crouch tech?

You have to block dive kicks on your wakeup. If it looks like they’re going for a cross then you can focus attack and then dash out of it, if they’re just going for a dive kick as pressure then it’s the same as Ryu going for a Daigo option select: It’s time to block.

I thought you were talking about a dive kick done while neutral.

Lol. This thread is crazy. Haters are going to hate. Like everyone who knows how to play Cammy says. Space your specials properly or get punished.

…Doesn’t that apply to every single member of the cast?..

You ever play a flowchart Ken?

Yeah, you have no idea what you’re on about.

Not to the same extent as Cammy. Improper spacing with Cammy is a death sentence. The same doesn’t apply to the rest of the cast. Maybe few but nowhere near the whole cast.

Name 1 character that never needs to space specials.

in any game. ever.

Fuck you even need to space in MK + Brawl.

Thank god SRK has an “ignore button.” It’s a godsend like the “mute button” on XBOXLive.

yeah so when someone points out your large amount of ignorance to the basics of fighting games, you can just ignore them and feel really good about yourself!

can someone lock this thread. please hate cammy somewhere else.

Notes from my main character:

If I do my combos from the wrong spacing they are punishable on hit by ultra.

If I don’t space my AA’s correctly I get blown up because they aren’t invincible.

If I don’t space myself correctly in regards to one of my special moves it goes from basically completely safe on block to being able to be punished by most anything.

If I do my primary blockstring from too far out the last hit whiffs and I am -30.

blahblahblah.

FRAAAAAAAAYYYY

These kind of statements give Cammy comunity a bad name.

I mean, Cammy, one of the hardest chars to master ? Really ? When I think of a difficult character to master, I think of Gen, viper, El fuerte, Dhalsim, maybe Sakura, Makoto, Seth, Ibuki, Hakan, Dudley. But Cammy ??? She’s not anywhere near these characters.
Also consider that Chi Rhitty and Banbaban, 2 of the best cammy players, weren’t maining her in AE (they mained yang and yun). They picked her up in v.2012 and are doing very well for a character “that hard to master”.

I use Cammy, Viper, and Evil Ryu and I can definitely say Cammy is the most user friendly. She has a bit more health, easy to do combos compared to Viper and Evil Ryu, easier execution requirements, etc. She’s just all around solid.

Viper is of course powerful, but she is incredible in a few areas but has a few weak areas, like getting people off of her easily. Evil Ryu of course hits hard but doesn’t derpy tools that Cammy and Viper get, and can’t open people up as easily.

Neither Viper or Evil Ryu get the frame advantage on normals that Cammy does, especially up close. Viper is more focued on complex motions, Evil Ryu is 1 frame link heavy with tight timing.

Cammy’s combos are much easier to do with not as much of a fear of messing up. cl hp, far hp, spiral arrow, etc. Even then you have plenty to choose from and if you happen to not have the timing or execution, do simple universal combos that still do good damage. She has several ways around fireballs, good walk speed, anti-fireball ultra, great dp with huge horizontal range, etc.

She’s well rounded and doesn’t seem to be as high risk/reward as other characters, she can play it calm or aggressive. She’s very, very good. Not broken though, but good, just a little too much. It’s funny I play online against other Cammy’s and they say she’s “cheap” or “retarded” themselves. It’s like the people using her feel she’s cheesy somewhat.

Cammy’s higher level combos aren’t easier to do than anyone elses. Watch even the best Cammy’s screw up their links and a bad spiral arrow lets your opponent punish you in the absolute worst way possible.

You also have to have an insane amount of match up knowledge to know exactly which cannon strikes do what, where and to who in order to get the most out of her ambiguous game.

I disagree. Cammy’s combos are nowhere near Fierce Feint Fierce combos or the multiple 1 frame link axe kick combos. The best players drop 1 frame links from time to time and that’s normal, but even then you still have some relatively simple universal combos to fall back on which somewhat less damage but still put you in a good position.

All characters get punished badly if they drop a combo. That’s nothing unique to Cammy. Nor is having matchup knowledge to know what to optimize. I would say that Viper’s game plan is a bit more universal.

Either way Cammy is more user-friendly than a lot of characters, and probably the most user friendly out of the top 5. It’s either her or Fei.

And yes, you have to be really good to play her on a professional level, but that can also be said about any character. Some just have a smaller learning curve.

I have Cammy as no.2 on my tier list(behind Akuma) and do think she can be played very well w/o much of her more difficult links (see Kindevu). But let’s not pretend she has no weaknesses. Short throw range, no safe special cancel bufferable moves, focus bait, and more of an easy to use aa DP than a great one. True it beats most AAs cleanly most of the time w/o some of the strict timing of other DPs, but the horizontal range is overestimated(most of the distance is when she’s airborn) and crossups still can hit her w/grounded priority.

Still. A top character-Yes. Broken/Overpowered-No.

ETA: Execution has far less weight in how good a character is vs their ability to control spacing and timing.
