You make it sound like Cammy would be doing her dive kicks at unsafe distances. It’s not always that easy to just n. jump and counter. She has ways to make dive kicks and most of her moves safe.

You have to be clear on when her dive kick is ‘bullshit’ safe. That situation where you guys are whining about cannot be created from just anything or anywhere. It has to be specific. Anything outside isn’t ‘bullshit’ safe.
You people whine about losing to Cammy because she is ‘so easy’ or ‘so bullshit’ that players can pick her up and magically they can start raining you down with un-counterable, totally invincible, totally ambigious dive kick just DON’T KNOW how to play against Cammy. I can go as far as to say that her vortex is easier to manage than VS Akuma’s or Seth’s mix up.
Go grab a friend and have him play Ryu. Then go ahead and do your whatever knockdown SA or backthrow and just throw a dive kick YOU THINK is safe or YOU THINK is ambigious. Have him simply commit to blocking the normal direction and do a reversal shoryu. Come back and tell me that Cammy’s dive kick is bullshit safe and cannot be managed.
There’s NO REASON to block the other way until the Cammy player you’re playing against can PROVE he can do cross ups on you. I’ve played plenty of Cammy and there’s so few people that know how to cross me up properly.
I’m not defending Cammy’s tier list or her dive kick. Sure, describing her dive kick as bullshit is reasonable. I mean, there’s a reason why she is top. No one at the Cammy board is jumping out and claiming she is not.

Alas. I agree with you, most of what you say is correct. But the fact of the matter is…She is still a character with copious amounts of bullshit.
Cammy is top but I don’t think it’s so bad that it requires an emergency nerf. Of course the game could always be more balance, but then people would complain about something else, lol.
I play cammy from time to time and I don’t know what some people are getting so angry about. cammy’s dive kick does not equal free pressure. Unless done right you are going to land at disadvantage and eat a combo. Hell, half the time it’s done right it can be DP’d.
I never understood how people think her dive kick is that good. It’s decent. Now Rufus… that is a stupid dive kick.
All this talk about “oh it can be dp’d so that means that it’s not as great as you think!” It sounds as if dps is the cure for everything… Not every character has a dp. Most of the characters I use don’t have one. Does that mean I should just start only playing characters that do? And to answer WL above, I never said that her shit is uncounterable. Someone else said that dive kicks are stupid easy to counter, and that’s not always the case.
The Dive Kick as a standalone move isn’t a big deal. It’s just that every single combo ending with Spiral = Amazingly safe knockdown pressure. It’s like you get midscreen Bipson pressure from everything. Including the Divekick.
Crouch Tech = TKCS > U1 / TKCS > Amazingly Damaging combo
That would be fine and good, but she just gets so much damage for such little risk. Seth has a better mixup, but if he fucks up just the once, You more or less lose. Ever whiffed a DP against Gouken / Viper / Makoto with Seth? You die. Simple as that. With Cammy, sure you can still die, but you don’t even need to commit to such risky actions.

Distance doesn’t mean much when countering. The moves takes something like 25 frames to hit you, regardless if distance, from the frame where she jumps. The second you see Cammy jumping, you should be reacting. Focus attack or neutral jump solves the problem in virtually all instances. Only EX dive kick can actually be used easily in a vortex.
Seriously, the move just isn’t good at hitting people who are also in the air.
Nope. 95% of the board is in agreement that Cammy is top 5 or better in AE 2012.
The only time the majority of this board ranked Cammy as a non top tier is during vanilla and AE (because she wasn’t) and during the first half of Super (because her strengths were not yet apparent until Sako proved them at GodsGarden).
If you look back in the threads here there was an SSF4 community match up tier list/chart made by the members of every forum here on srk. Guess which character was ranked #1 by a good margin by their forum and ended up at #1 overall?

The problem with these dudes is you can’t refute anything they say otherwise you’re saying Cammy is bottom tier and awful. Arguing on srk has gotten to be unbearable. I’ve actually had a couple people on xbl now ask me why I’m saying Cammy is low tier after I beat them.
It sure does actually. I play against someone who only uses Cammy for the most part, and we went to test the n. jump theory on my wakeup. It is not an option for Makoto at least. If she doesn’t have ultra on wakeup, then there’s not much she can do. If I focus backdash, then Cammy can still tag me before I recover from the dash. If I try to n. jump, I can’t even get off the ground to counter. If I try to ex karakusa, the chances are high that I will just miss him with the grab because of its lack of range and because Cammy can make her dive safe against it. Cammy’s dive beats ex chop(Otoshi) and ex dash punch (hayate).
He meant neutral jump against divekicks used in the neutral game, not oki. If you get knocked down, you’ve got to take the oki, that’s just how it is - not just against Cammy but against every character. If you got hit by either a punish combo or (unsafe) normal xx arrow, the other player earned that safe mixup opportunity.

No offence Happosai, But you talking about the NJ theory and shit. You can just block, Cammy hasn’t found a way to defy solid blocking just yet.
I was talking about the NJ theory because that’s what was brought up as the answer to the dive kick issue. For Makoto, once Cammy is on her, it’s a major problem getting her off so you usually want to try to find ways to beat most of what she can do
so that she can’t overwhelm you as much.

I’m trying to focus on one issue at a time when they come up. The issue I was talking about before was that someone said that n.j. shuts down Cammy’s whole dive kick game which I said that wasn’t the case. Blocking is one of the most important parts of the game, but you can’t just sit there the whole time. Part of what is being discussed is a way around a move besides blocking. At some point, you’re going to either have to try and mount an offense or place some decent counters in if you want to just play defense. But you just want to jump in here and show that you’re missing half a conversation. Makoto has her way around Cammy’s normal dive kicks, but Cammy also has ways to counter that too. No Cammy is going to be just jumping in the air and mindlessly dive kicking. Not if they’re half way decent at least.
properly spaced neutral jumping does shit down divekicks, also proper anti air normals (st.m cr.mk) do too but thats much harder. Guess what, some things in this game you just have to block unless you are confident in your timing. Cammy has dks, seth has dk and j.rh, sak has everything, bison j.jp…id say its easier to aa cammys dks then the rest of those
