beat the first eight worlds in Super Mario 3D World last night. Unlocked time attack & ghosts on the old levels, and opened up Star Road too. Those star road levels are fkin serious, jesus christ…

Sako is beast with any character sniffle
Dat Desk combo
for those of you with pc streets its super easy to mod it for the capcom cup ultra build. links on the front page… so you can try out changes and red focus etc
Blazbue character Kokonoe is gonna start being banned from tournaments because she’s apparently ST Akuma good. Is it a good idea to ban a character like this before tournament results to keep the game hype going, or should multiple tournaments for the game be ruined (and people’s dislike for the game be made stronger) before you ban someone like this? Apparently she has block string infinites that build enough meter to lead into an unblockable super (which then kills you), and if she ever hits you with a stand jab anywhere on screen, she has a death combo. Your only option is to burst the first time you block or get touched (and then never get hit for the remaining two rounds), or hope your opponent screws up.
its worth it for this one ricky
lol that sounds completely retarded ha ha. they should run both tournies with and without koko and see how it goes.
That’s the power of pettanko
I’ve heard a good point about banning her, too… BBCP’s competitive life is going to be short enough as it is. Probably will fade away once GG comes out… So why not make the game more exciting while it’s here, instead of endless Kokonoe mirrors. Character saturation definitely isn’t good for the early life of a game (Early SFxT and Injustice, Brawl, MK9 and now KI is turning into Sabrewulf fests, etc)
Also, BBCP is amazing. Just finished Makoto’s trials :).
post up a vid of how broke this character is in action plz
i like watching super busted games
edit: found a vid of the guy showing off one touch kills, the infinite blockstring and a bunch of cheap looking setups. any match vids of it?
Top 8 at Apex this weekend during winners finals I think, Lord Knight switched from his main to Kokonoe after he lost a game and basically came back and perfected his opponent a bunch of times in a row.
blue jackets tearin it up!
Man I really can’t wait for Hugo to get here.
what if he sucks, though?
woot just been informed ive got a new job that ill be starting in 2 weeks! hopefully the days of earning a shitty wage will be behind me now! plus ill get most evenings off too!
The facts have been skewed a bit so that the character can get banned and we have another case where the NA FGC is acting like little bitches again and want to cry ban instead of stepping their shit up and learning how to deal with the character. There were initial talks when she was first release to ban her but what pushed things over the edge was the discovery of a block string infinite which isn’t completely full proof. The proof of concept was this:
The arguments being presented to ban the character is that she has no bad match ups, really good tools, high damage, and unblockable setups (majority of the cast have ways to escape it). Though we could probably say the same thing for select top tiers in SF4 and in general anime fighters are full of BS that naturally balance itself out.
Anyways, in regards to the block string infinite. People have discovered ways out of it by instant barrier guarding it, which reduces the frame advantage of the guard string, gain you 2x the meter for a counter assault (alpha counter), as well as pushing Kokonoe far enough away from you that she can’t perpetually continue the block string. There might be ways around this for the Kokonoe player but they need to make on the fly adjustments to keep it going. Burst is also another option to get out of this but Burst is not always available to you depending on what you did. The counter arguments is that all of this can be baited out by the Kokonoe player but a lot of people fail to realize that the player needs to make hard reads to bait all of this out and baiting stops offensive momentum.
People also bring up how several of the top players in Japan failed to beat the current best Japanese BBCP player 2 week old Kokonoe. However, nobody knew the match up at the time and that player using Kokonoe was the only person in Japan that was really exploring the character. He also had prior match up knowledge of the characters/players he was facing so while he’s new with the character there are some general strats that he can apply that will give him a slight advantage. Basically, the other players had to figure out the neutral game, how to punish/os her reversals, her general mix up game, and her set ups into the unblockable on the fly.
As time progressed, the top players in Japan were getting use to fighting the character and were getting better results when playing against this Kokonoe player. While he was still winning the majority of the sets the matches generally became closer and closer. Also, the tournament results in Japan don’t have that many Kokonoe players placing high.
The TOD scenario in that video requires the players burst and two 1 frames after the unblockable super, which even the best player in Japan can’t consistently do nor does he go for it in match play. He also rarely goes for the unblockable and wins through his neutral game and mix ups.
You can watch Dogura (you should remember him as being the best SF4 Bison player in Japan) vs Tsujikawa (The best BBCP player in Japan).
Both Tsujikawa and Dora have weighed in on the situation and said let it rock with Tsujikawa putting the NA FGC on blast. Dora has made the best point stating that there are people who have picked up the game or quit the game because of Kokonoe. By banning her there’s the potential that you gain and lose players. However, leaving her tournament playable will also force players to explore their own characters which will promote learning and growth.
Ultimately, if the main argument to ban Kokonoe is the blockstring infinite into the unblockable for a TOD then I would want to see this being done in tourney play on a consistent basis before calling for a ban. Anything new that’s discovered that is potentially game breaking needs time to develop so that a proper decision can be made. However, the anime fgc is so volatile and likes to jump on flavour of the month games that BBCP’s life cycle might not live long enough in NA to really determine that. Also, there are a lot of NA players who refuse to play the character because they ‘would be winning tournaments all the time with her’ so it doesn’t give the opportunity to prove one way or another. The level of play from the NA BBCP community is pretty low overall with the last few tournaments having all the low tier characters winning/making top 8.
We live in a very different time than before but I really question what the FGC would do nowadays against ‘BS’ characters in the past like 3S Chun/Yun, MVC2 Mag/Storm/Sent, and CVS2 Sagat/Blanka/A-Sakura/A-Bison to name a few scenarios.
who here is a professional web developer? aka someone who makes websites for a living?
