What are you thinking of KI so far, Jimmy? Honestly, the game seems kind of… I dunno… dry to me? It’s a lot of the same, over and over. Feels like you don’t really have to change up your play-style based on match ups, at least not to the extent that I like in my fighting games. I certainly don’t have the passion to play it like I did with Injustice. (Speaking of, I really wish Ultradavid had more sway in the community, and people actually listened to his pleas ;). He’s trying pretty hard to get people to pick it up lately. Definitely agree with him that it’s the best FG right now. Too bad it suffered the same death SFxT did, due to really stupid stuff at release. And just like SFxT, the game is hideous and sounds terrible…which I guess also lead to its death)
Maybe I’ll care more about KI if a character I like is released.
I find it to be more interesting when you know the other player, thats when it gets really good.
If it’s just a random you basically play super safe and cash out your combos early and it can get boring.
Knowing your opponent and playing long sets with them puts the game on another level for me. Baiting breaks and counter breaking. Shadow Breaks and counters. Baiting those. The neutral game is pretty fun and I like that even if you do make a mistake you are never out of it. I’m still enjoying it alot, but would like to play it offline as well. I’m hoping a few more characters will make it a little more interesting to watch in streams though. I love Orchid and find her a challenge to win with, so it’s kept it fun for me.
I’ve started playing Injustice again as well after a really long break. It’s fun but frustrating at the same time. I basically can’t play the character I want because they nerfed his ass to hell, and the game mechanics make him unviable (clash, interactables)
But it’s still fun if you can find a good connection or play it offline. Defend the North had some absolutely awesome matches to watch on the weekend, was alotta fun, and great to see some new characters.
Revolvers Luthor was awesome, and it was great to see Reo back kicking some ass.
i think the wiiu will pick up sales once smash bros and mario kart drop, but its almost too late. its a shame because its a great system and shit
they really fucked up with the name(nintendo released a statement saying that lots of people thought it was new peripheral instead of a new system) and having 0 launch titles
Even with those there’s no chance at all that it’ll catch up to the other systems. It’s doomed to finish in last place, just like the Gamecube and N64.
Not to hate on it or anything though, I mean I even bought one.
January 29th, my band is playing their DEBUT SHOW at Hexters, the bar I work at, for our first open mic night, which I will be hosting.
I think we can expect lots of people in the bar but it would be great to see some of you guys again whom I haven’t seen in millenia. It would also mean support for the bar and for my band which would be the cats pajamas for me.
real talk the wii u is dead in the water. it would take a miracle to broaden it’s appeal beyond the same nintendo die-hards who buy their games every generation. personally i don’t really care so long as nintendo keeps putting out games i want to play, plus bayonetta 2.
real talk, if you can afford it, buy an expensive PC. consoles are a waste of money. there arent enough console exclusive games to justify buying a specific console. most console games come out on PC anyways.
once the FGC decides on the next gen Tournament Standard console, then i’ll buy that console. until then, i have absolutely no reason to buy a next gen console.
however, if i were to buy a next gen console, it would be the Wii-U because i can’t play those games on the PC.
I think the Wii U and PC complement each other very well. I don’t even see what is not “next gen” about it… Super Mario 3D World looks so good, runs rock solid 60 frames a second the whole time. It could almost be a Disney game or something with how great it looks.
Next gen fighters, haaaaaah
they better all come out on PC. I don’t see myself moving on to anything except Marvel vs Capcom 4 anyway and I don’t think that’s ever gonna happen cuz of all the licensing issues Marvel games have been having since Disney bought them.
Wii U will be fine for, like… 5-7 total games in its lifetime (with maybe a few surprises). Which is fine, to some people it will be worth it for those 5 Nintendo titles.
Nintendo is like Apple now though. All their console games are these highly polished titles where you’re not allowed to step outside the velvet rope. As long as you enjoy the ride they’ve specifically laid out for you through the same Mario-themed set pieces, you’ll have fun. I’m unlikely to buy a Wii U for any first-party Nintendo title for this reason, but we’ll see how their second-party titles are received.
