C.Viper changes/alterations

yea dp’s will still hit u out, but now pokes hit u out.

That’s BS if its true man. So what’s the frames on mp tk hit then?

prob neutral on hit…but ur c.mp takes 5 frames to start…so…yep…

we’ll soon see the new frame data, i hope someone posts a comparison…but i honestly see major nerfs, and with no true buffs…

Just Vanilla, don’t have access to SSF4 either yet.

To those of you that are aware of Viper’s changes, what improvements (if any) did she recieve in this version? I’m depressed reading about the changes to her so far, as I wanted to switch to her in this game, but if it’s really as bad as it seems then fuck that, I’ll just play someone else.

Well, I’m aware of myself making the lk to cr.mp link easier now… to me she seems stronger in the fact that everyone else seems to have lost damage, so i seem to survive longer than normal.

She actually feels a lot better in this game. Like, okay, her jump is a little different, but I was able to hit REALLY ambiguous burnkicks with it that stuff DP. her damage is lower, but is still good and she’s honestly one of the more damaging characters in the game when you start incorporating FFF. Her damage off of that is godlike.

Yeah, her BK got a little nerfed, but you weren’t playing honest if it effects you all that much. Honestly it sucks, but it could be worse. Her health didn’t get buffed. That kind of sucks.

Her ultra does hella in combos still.

I like Viper more than Rufus in this game after playing both. Rufus is easier to win with, IMO, but Viper rapes everyone now who isn’t T. Hawk, Gief, or Honda. Which is fine, because no one likes them because they’re ugly.

I guess Bison is still pretty rough too.

If you want to switch by all means go right ahead. Don’t let what anyone says discourage you from playing a character. If you haven’t played her competitively in vanilla you have nothing to compare to so you can just jump in and drive without stressing about changes. It will be all new to you so her buffs or nerfs shouldn’t matter IMO.

One word of warning though, if you don’t like take losing don’t pick Viper up. Forget about all those crazy match videos on you tube where you’ve seen viper players tormenting the opposition mercilessly making her seem godlike (she is though). Viper is an advanced character so I don’t need to tell you she has a VERY steep learning curve. If you get depressed from reading the posts here you’ll get even more depressed trying to get game with her. I started to question my abilities as a SF player in the beginning stages with Viper as even scrubby players were beating me to the ground. Anyway if you want to play Viper go for it and never give up on her no matter what. Winning with viper is exhilarating to say the least and most players will respect you for even trying to play her competitively.

Raeli, i really wanted to know what made her better, because i dont really see it…better jump…i dont really notice the diff…is it further? closer?

Her ambiguous bk’s were decent in sf4…
Her damage is reduced…even with FFF I dont find it that damaging…like…i dont feel any significant advantage over others

bk’s “little” nerf consists of reducing it by 6 frames, and have it spd-able

so what makes her better? or am i missing something?

haha real talk kybadguy… we all lose…we still lose
we viper wielders are all so depressing…
yea if u got nothing to compare to by all means use her…u’ll just find that shes probably just mid tier now…maybe even low mid.

honda, gief, hawk bison, rog all rape her, and akuma rapes everyone.

she has difficulty with small characters too…like cammy…

anyone with a dp hurts her…

i stuff dps with meaty jump roundhouse lawl

but seriously, game is faster paced now. that helps her rushdown game. everyone does less damage. she’s no longer a super glass cannon, but still makes out like a bandit on big punishes compared to (almost) everyone else. DPs get owned by ambigous bk, AND meaty jump RH now.

only thing I’m sore about is backthrow nerf. that kind of sucks. shit happens though.

finally got super and went training/online ,yep the c.mk>m.tk is fucked on block if you mash through the c.mk, but on the plus side once it becomes common knowledge it’ll be so easy to fake and punish a whiffed dp, not to bothered about it though, wot really gets me is that back throw, so i work to get a knockdown, now its time to apply presasure but i can’t, it’s so easy to dp j.hk now, I’ve tried taking a step forward but now the roundhouse feels like it just slips through my opponents hitbox and lands infront of them, it’s so irratating, why the change? burn kick does feel slow to recover on block but it hardly effects my game since I don’t rely on it.

Also FFF feels exactly the same to me? not sure what was changed about that

Mikoal, that last post made me piddle a little. Small characters shouldn’t give you trouble, especially Cammy. Her Cannon Spike damage got nerfed so much it’s retarded. Sounds like you need to turn off auto-pilot and stop running into shit, and start baiting and punishing. I have a much easier time getting wins in Super with viper.

Hey, I’m really having problems connecting Ultra 1 midscreen now in Super off of Seismo, sjc burnkick. I haven’t hit one on Gouken the entire time I’ve been in training mode, is it possible with the burn kick nerf?

Yes, it’s possible. And yes, MP TK gained 3 frames on recovery on both hit and block, so it went from +1 to -2 on block, and from +3 to 0 on hit. And you’re missing the bonus to that. As people learn that, they’ll learn that they can reversal your next move, which = bait and 40% damage. Allows you to be smarter than your opponent and capitalize for a change, rather than just flying around spamming frame traps and only owning scrubs. THAT is why she is better. She has all of her combability she had in Vanilla with more chances for mindgame punishes.

lol this is completely false lol in no way does that change help you in anyway whats so ever this is not why she is better that change is nothing but a negative impact on vipers game

my thoughts exactly, these “mind games” can still exist if u had the adv
all ive seen are bk and tk nerfs, 3 frames plus!
only thing she gained was c.mp recovery
i mean ok u can CH c.mp, c.hp into ex seismo, but is this that huge that it compensates for the above?
anyways i still dunno what u thinking pete, i cant see her being better in this one…
like i have a few ppl here listing shes better, but her bks are -2, lk bk is -2, mp tk is -2.
so gained recovery on c.mp…links seems easier, sjc ultra seems easier… but she feels slower…

It’s possible still. I’ve done it vs. Ryu in matches. I don’t know if the timing has changed since I never learned to set up for ultra on purpose; only to recognize when the bk just happened to be right and confirm into U1.

FlashMetroid is so concise.
But, if I may ask, if the relative lack of frame advantage is not what makes her better now, I assume you believe something else makes her better than she was in SF4? Is this a change to her, or the fact that everyone else does less damage?

for one . her ultra 2 controls alot of the air now. today i jumped in on a gief purposely , then once i got ultra i jumped in again and he did lariat , i did ultra and it beat it. I was also fighting a ryu and i kept jumping all of his fireballs , he tried to stop me by jumping at me with heavy kick i caught him with ultra 2 in the air . she still can stun you very fast like in sf4 (still very dangerous ) . she is still the best character on the game imo . she can still beat everyone on the game . the new cast wont affect her much she can keep ibuki , and guy out of the air . THawk is a problem , but you can jump over that upward dive it has less priority on the top (try it) . Cody you can rush down as well as guy . makoto (she’ll be chasing you alot and falling for alot stuff) keep her out. flamekicks miss randomly imo now idk capcom changed hitbox or somethin . her medim tk is very punishable now . i went into training mode and was able to lowforward all of her medium tks with ease in sf4 it was never this easy , so that move definitely got slower. Overall I like this new viper and although she took few nerfs she is still really good and looking forward to another year with this great character .
