As for dropping Viper, I can’t do it. I’m being optimistic and hoping the BK nerfs won’t make a massive difference. Besides, I need an excuse to use more Seismos anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Lol @ eventhubs. Those are the types of folks you play online and rack up wins against by spamming cr.mp to mp tk over and over again and they keep getting hit until dizzied. Then they say “Did that all combo?? I cant do anything against that shit, wtf broken!?!”

They hate BK because they’ve witnessed it beat their predictable wakeup srk and had a similar “this cannot be!” moment.

I havent read the full blog translation, but from whats been posted here its a bit disheartening that it sounds like all they mentioned in terms of Viper is mostly nerfs. I guess the cr.mp counts as a buff but idk, seems like kind of an odd area to focus on when the move already did its job pretty well and cr.mk was clearly the move that actually needed fixing. Unless they actually made cr.mp faster…that would be great. Where is it coming from that they fixed the hitbox on cr.mk, btw? Just speculation?

I don’t like Viper’s “big buff” being her new ultra. For a character like Chun, whom I also play, the new ultra immediately makes her a lot better. For Viper, not so much. I’m sure there will be uses for it but Burst Time was already a fantastic ultra so I’ll probably just stick with it. As someone else said, it seems like the only advantage of Burning Dance is that it will be easier and less technical to utilize, which is not the direction I’d like to see Viper going. Sure it’s great if you start seeing more people pick up Viper, but for those of us that have no problem already hitting ultra 1 in any given situation, its pretty pointless.

Viper’s big buff is a big buff to allow scrubs to pick her up easier and give her a reliable air to air or air to ground option in certain matchups. That’s about it.

One of the things that killed Viper against Honda was that neutral jump fierce killed almost her entire ground game and even messed up a good bit of her air game. HP knuckle having a few more invince frames should help a bit but an ultra that could potentially keep him from running to the air with neutral fierce would be a huge help in that matchup specifically.

Interesting what will happen between Viper and Ibuki. We will wait and see what happens.
Since Ibuki is new we needs a full analyzes on her.

Even I got my rant little against Viper with Ibuki coming along.
I mained Ibuki and Chun in 3rd Strike.

How do you think its going to work out?

Hmmm My guess. Ibuki being played more. Viper being played less.
As DJ mentioned, Viper’s footsies are pretty bad. Plus the amount of work to master Viper hurts as well.

People reliable to mess up on execution or mess up on landing U1 in combos.
I mean even Marn messing up with Viper sometimes.
Is the Risk worth it?

But I am sure there will be some good Viper players out there still.

I think Viper’s real big buff is the number of “turns,” as they call it, in a typical match increasing. Think that’s gonna help Viper more than it will most of the cast. Gonna be shocked if she doesn’t end up going up on the tier list by a decent amount.

As long as she does about the same amount of damage she used to then its a buff

Well, I thought it over a little, because I was really disheartened about the nerf. Then came to a similar conclusion.
I wait to see if her overall damage is lowered. If FFF damage is still the same, with the nerf to all ultras and srks, she could end up the only real damage dealer of the cast. I keep hope.

I guess bk will see less and less usage…
-ambiguous bk on wakeup: you lose the initiative on a block because of the nerf
-stupid upfront bk: FA 2 becoming so fast, it’s just asking to be killed
-bk juggle to ultra in the corner: who cares, ultra2 will be used in difficult matchups

Yeah Viper’s biggest buff is ultimately the game conforming to make her style of play stronger and less prone to shoryus raping her life. She still needs a stronger ground game or she’ll never see the light of day of top tier. Especially now that burn kicks are not giving real frame advantage anymore.

But I don’t think her damage will be that insane that it will warrant using her over ibuki

Yeah either way Viper is still going to be a mostly gimmick based character stuck in a game where fundamentals like black jab and reversals are king. You’re still going to be able to focus her out of burn kicks and jab her out of knuckles and generally just watch her feint all day until she makes a move and then press a button at her. I’ll still be using Viper obviously since her unique long range seismo game will be useful in some matchups but as far as a powerful mid/close range game Ibuki is going to kill Viper unless they are really rearranging things with Viper.

hey guys im going to get a hands on with the game this week and will be definately testing out a few things with viper and hopefully be recording footage if im allowed. If you guys want me to test out anything just make a list and ill make sure to check EVERYTHING you write.

my list ive compiled so far is;

cr.MK range hit box
LP/MP Thunder knuckle recovery
HP Thunder knuckle priority and start up to see if its been improved
Walk speed
FFF Damage
New U2 combos i could come up with i.e HP TK >> FADC >> U2
check out “new improved” MP and some of her other normals such as standing far MK
Gonna spend one match doing nothing but ENTIRELY using burning kicks to test out the recovery
check out all her normals.

thats all i can think of for now but let me know if ive missed anything. like i said before, if im allowed then ill be recording all of these with my HD camera so we can get a nice clear view of whats happening.
